Transform Business Cards into Cherished Memories with This Minimalist Log Book

Business cards and shop cards are often regarded as boring, impersonal representations of people and places, but that’s partly because we often forget to associate the person with the name on the card. It’s easy enough to forget the first encounter with a stranger who hands you their business card, not unless you actually turn that card into an unforgettable memory. Rather than keep those cards in some container that you forget inside a drawer, why not slip them into this minimalist and profound log book that lets you write down your own thoughts and memories about people, encounters, and events, turning them into small stories that let you cherish these memories and remember them better for days to come.

Some people and events definitely leave a lasting impression, but our frail human minds can easily forget them as well. Photos and even business cards offer tangible triggers to jog our memories, but they can still end up feeling distant and impersonal, more like watching a film from the eyes of an outsider rather than from your own perspective. What better way to ensure you’ll remember the poignant details of that memory than by writing it down? And that’s exactly the kind of space that this Memories Log Book provides, allowing you to make every business card, shop card, or photo a truly personal and memorable encounter.

Using the log book is genius in its simplicity. You simply insert the two corners of a card into the slits and it will stay in place without the need for messy adhesives or cumbersome pockets. It can fit business cards, shop cards, and even small Instax photos, anything you might collect from brief but memorable encounters. Beside each card is an empty space, a blank canvas where you can write your own reflections on the person or event, helping your future self remember what made the card worth keeping. You can even draw on it, if you’re so inclined, creating a stronger association with those people you’ve only just met.

This A5-sized business card file log book can hold up to 120 cards, but you can add, remove, and rearrange pages just as easily as you add cards. An elastic band serves as the binding, running across the height of the book and through cutouts on the top and bottom edges. This innovative system makes it trivial to organize those cards the way you like that you might actually find yourself losing time just personalizing the pages.

The Log Book’s minimalist design extends to its choice of material. High-quality paper is simple yet holds deep meaning, both for our minds and especially our hands. The tactile warmth of each page creates a bond between the person and the cards on that page, and its elegant yet unassuming appearance is a perfect fit for any setting, whether it’s at home, in the office, or even in a meeting. It’s definitely a great gift idea not just for workers but for anyone who loves collecting memories in a more meaningful and personal way.

ECG Business Card Makes my Heart Race

I have business cards at my day job. The problem is that they have someone else’s name on them, and my boss doesn’t want to spend any money so I have to mark out the old person’s name and put my name on them. It’s pretty high class. I’d never get approval to buy a really awesome business card like this one.

MobileECG’s “electroCARDiograph” is about the size of a normal business card with contact pads for your thumbs. When you put your thumbs there, the little display shows you the ECG, which is a representation of heart activity.

It’s not accurate enough for diagnostics but it is accurate enough to see how cool the business card is. Power appears to come from a coin cell battery. Each of this gizmos would sell for $29 or you might be able to build one with the available schematics and code.

Kodak’s CEO Uses 35mm Film Business Cards

Film may not be making a comeback in our cameras any time soon, but it is making a comeback in business card form. At least for one guy. At this year’s CES, Kodak CEO Jeff Clarke was seen handing out business cards made from a strip of 35mm film. Of course!

It makes perfect sense for the CEO of Kodak to have 35mm film business cards, but there was actually another reason. One of Kodak’s big announcements was a hybrid reboot of the Super 8 camera, which comes with a digital viewfinder to help frame shots, but the shots are captured on Super 8 Kodak film, making it the perfect blend of old school and new school.

The camera is cool, but these business cards totally rock.

Star Trek Business Card Case Boldy Hands out Your Phone Number

If you work in an environment where you have to keep business cards on you at all times, it sucks fishing in your pocket for cards when you need them. If you don’t put them inside a case of some sort, they end up all bent, frayed, and crappy looking.

If you want to protect your cards and happen to be a Trekkie, here is the perfect accessory for you. What we have here are two different Star Trek business card holders. They’re the final frontier in business card holders.

One of them has the Star Trek command insignia and the other has an embossed image of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701. Each holds 12 cards and will cost you $29.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

This Business Card Is All about Fire

If you want your business card to be noticed and not just sit in a pile of cards, make it stand out by lighting a fire with it. That’s the idea behind this card from Wildfire Experiential + Event. They are an event design and branding company in Canada. Their business card is the hottest thing right now. Or it will be once you strike a match.

The owners, Kelly Thorpe and Bianca Knop, send a clear message that they will set your brand on fire. Putting a matchbook striker on the card so that people can light a match is a great way to convey that complex message.

The card was designed by advertising agency Cossette for Wildfire. It is a simple and effective message that stands out.

The Swiss Army Business Card

I thought we had come up with every possible use for multi-tools, but I guess I was wrong. We have never seen a cardboard multi-tool before. And it is also a business card. Creator Anthony Cole calls it the Business Knife.

It has the usual knife, bottle opener, and file arms and it may also score Anthony a job or two if it impresses prospective clients. Sure, the knife isn’t sharp and none of these tools will stand up to even the lightest use, but that’s okay. I appreciate the genius of the design and how he put it all together.

Great work, Anthony.

Bronze Spock Business Card Holder Logically Holds Cards

If you have a job where you need business cards sitting out on your desk at all times, you might have a lame and boring cardholder. It probably came from Walmart or Office Depot. You could have stolen it from your pal in the cubicle next door, but we won’t judge. If you need an awesome business card holder that no one can steal from you, this is it. Okay, it might be a target for theft, but if you see it on your buddy’s desk it’ll be pretty obvious where they got it from.

Behold the highly logical Bronze Spock Business Card holder. It holds business cards between the thumb and a ridge in the palm of its hand. Around the base of the bronze hand, it says “Live Long and Prosper.”

Each unit is handpainted and made from polystone resin. It measures 4.25″ x 2.5″ x 6.5″ and is an officially-licensed Star Trek accessory. You can get your own Spock hand for $34.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

World’s Coolest Business Cards Turn into a Tiny Longbow

People hand me business cards all the time, and almost all of them end up in the trash shortly thereafter. If you want me to keep a card you hand me, it had better be awesome. A dude that works for a video production firm called Longbow has created the most awesome business cards in history.

The business cards appear to be made out of thin wood sheets with etched words and numbers. The cool part is that you can remove the sides to create a thin bow that you string with a rubber band.

Once you have the rubber band on the bow, you can use it to fire toothpicks. I can only imagine the damage that shooting toothpicks at coworkers eyes would cause. I think cinnamon toothpicks would be my arrow of choice, that way not only could I poke your eye, I could make it burn too.

The Card Car

Biff Mobile started out as a simplistic wood toy car for children, but with a few modifications it’s become fun for all ages. Whether you’re a car buff or an avid toy collector, you’ll find that it’s a whimsical way to showcase your business cards or even hold your phone.

Play Tetris on the Coolest Business Card Ever!

Tetris Business Card

If you failed to make an impression in person, then the only chance you have left is to make an impression with your business card. Plain old cards are boring. The way to go these days are interactive business cards and Bateske Design definitely got it right with their Arduboy digital business card.

It’s essentially a miniature, Arduino-based card that lets people play Tetris on it. How they managed to cram an OLED screen, capacitive D-pad, A/B buttons, and a piezo speaker into the 1.6mm-thick card is a feat in itself.

Bateske Design are purportedly planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign soon for these interactive cards. Until then, you can make your own and wow potential bosses before thousands of others will be able to do the same.
