Someone finally invented a suitcase with an inbuilt item checklist

Genius Pack has slowly and steadily become a pretty hard-to-forget name in the travel-accessories circuit. Not operating like traditional companies like Delsey, Samsonite, Rimowa and such, Genius Pack’s business model has always been a research-driven design company. One of those classic crowd-built crowd-funded companies you hear about that put heavy focus on what the target audience wants, Genius Pack’s suitcases have quite a lot of features you still don’t see in mainstream luggage companies… like a dedicated laundry compartment and a modular mesh-storage wall for your belongings, and even a built-in checklist to make sure you don’t forget any of your belongings!

The Genius Pack Supercharged basically builds on Genius Pack’s idea of the ideal bag. You’ve got a hard-shell suitcase made of PolyCarbonate, the same material used in riot gear, so it can quite literally withstand the abuse luggage usually sees at the hands of airline ground staff. The Supercharged also comes with a TSA-Approved combination lock and packs eight 360° spinner wheels, forming its robust outer build. The Supercharged, as its name suggests, also packs an integrated, removable 10,000 mAhpower bank that charges not just phones but also tablets via its dual-USB port layout, and a universal cable that works with Android and iOS devices.

On the inside the Supercharged sticks to a crowd-favorite layout. It comes with two compartments on either side of the suitcase, separated by an array of mesh-lined pockets for segregating all your mini-accessories, and also features perhaps the greatest innovation of all time… An embedded checklist with all possible products listed on it, so you remember what to pack, and never end up forgetting a belt or a hairbrush because you were in a hurry.

A combination of a couple of good and a handful of revolutionary ideas (I still can’t believe that it comes with a checklist!), the guys at Genius Pack very clearly try to define a set of crowd-faced problems and solve each and every one of them. With a cabin-friendly size and a capacity of 44 liters, the Supercharged is small but utilitarian. It packs a robust build that’s backed by a 5-year warranty, an inbuilt power bank for the modern traveler, and comes with a well designed compartmentalized storage for all your luggage, because with that handy checklist, you’re probably not going to ever forget anything!

Solving Travel’s Biggest Problem

Now the biggest woe of traveling isn’t losing your luggage (I’ve seen so many suitcases try to crack this nugget) or lack of modularity (it’s good to go modular, but non-modularity isn’t a concrete problem) or having to lug your heavy bags around (wheels have solved this problem, but the self-driving robotic suitcase we’ve seen on social media seems more like a novelty than a necessity). The big problem one always faces, is having to own two separate bags for check-in and carry-on, and having to plan my packing oscillating between the two of them and whether I need the small bag, the big bag, or both. Now here’s the thought. What if you could have a bag that grows and shrinks in size to fit both the needs?

Well, we’ve seen bags expanding to allow extra storage, but nothing quite like this. The XTEND’s bag literally shrinks vertically in size to meet carry-on dimension requirements, and then expands (when you need to) for when you want a large bag to check-in. One bag literally fits all situations by being compact when you want it, and spacious when you need it, allowing it to be the only bag that can be carried with you as cabin luggage, or transported as checked-in baggage. The XTEND does this using a collapsible inner ‘belt’ or zone, that when opened out, makes the bag up to 40% larger.

Aside from its shape-shifting abilities, it outdoes itself with additional features, including 2 concealed laptop hatches (one for 13″ and another for 15″ laptops), a separate compartment for shoes/magazines/jackets, an in-built power strip featuring 2 USB + 1 MicroUSB sockets, armed with a generous 20,000 mAh battery, powerful enough to charge not just your phones and tablets, but even your laptop! Plus, you’ll be stunned by the number of accessories that come along with the suitcase. If that wasn’t enough, the XTEND even features bio-metric locking! Which means if your bag ever gets flicked prematurely off the conveyor belt, its contents can’t be accessed without the correct finger-print. Not just as a prospective user, but even as a designer, I have to say I’m impressed. The XTEND may just be the most superior, user-centric, consciously-designed piece of luggage so far… and that’s saying a lot.

Snake Salvation Star’s Son to Carry On Snake Handling

The Bible has a couple of phrases in it which condone snake handling for the pious. While they may not be meant to be taken literally, there are as many interpretations as there are people on earth....

Micro Scooter Luggage Helps Make Airports Less Boring, More Dangerous

Airports aren’t much fun, especially if your flight is delayed or you are rushing to make a connecting flight. That’s one of the reasons why this scooter luggage looks pretty cool. You can scoot around, with a coffee in one hand and making your way through the sea of people sauntering slowly to their gates.

micro scooter luggage

Micro Scooter Luggage was developed by Kickboard in collaboration with Samsonite and has a hard-side construction. Its 26L capacity and folding handle make it an approved carry-on. But its main feature is the three-wheeled, folding scooter board attached to the bottom of the bag.

I don’t know what the TSA will say about this thing, and how they’ll respond when you scoot up to security – probably with a full cavity search, but it looks like a smart and fun idea anyhow.

It costs $249.99(USD) and is available at the Kickboard’s US website, or on Amazon.
