Motorized LEGO Game of Thrones Red Keep Sculpture

I didn’t like Game of Thrones at first, but the show has certainly grown on me and I like it now. It’s one of the few shows that I still like to watch the opening scenes of just to see the moving fortresses and such. The most memorable is the Red Keep.

Some fantastic geek has taken a bunch of LEGO bricks and built their own working version of the Red Keep from the opening titles of the hit HBO show. It rotates, its towers slide up and down, its cupolas spin, and it’s generally packed with awesome. Check it out in action:

The builder of this LEGO sculpture is Claus-Marc Hahn, who created it with LEGO and Mindstorms automation gear. There are over 125,000 pieces in the creation, along with four Mindstorms EV3 controllers and large servos working the show. Epic build, Claus-Marc!

Guy Build Pop-up LEGO Castle: Howl’s Folding Castle

Japanese LEGO enthusiast and all around brick genius Talapz has created a super impressive LEGO creation that has to be seen to be believed: a LEGO pop-up castle.

For this build, he reproduced the Himeji medieval castle, but with an awesome twist. He created it as a giant pop-up book! I honestly would have never believed this was possible, but as you can see, it is, and it is the best LEGO creation ever. You’ll want to watch the video to be truly blown away by this build:

As far as pop-up books go, this is basically a book with one big page. It sits as flat as possible, and opens up to form a 3D model of the landmark castle. You can see it all slide into place as he opens the book. That is some great LEGO engineering.

LEGO Hyrule Castle: Tower Prince

The history of light and shadow, drawn in bricks. MOCer Joseph Zawada has spent more than two years building this massive LEGO model of the Hyrule Castle, which he based on its appearance in his favorite Legend of Zelda game, Twilight Princess.

Joseph wasn’t able to add the reverse arch… things… that connect the outer towers to the main structure. Also it needs more rain, but there’s nothing Joseph can do about that. Here’s Beyond the Brick’s interview with Joseph at BrickFair Virginia:

Those rock pieces will never cease to amaze me. Congrats on the build Joseph!

Fan Made LEGO Minecraft Castle: Steve’s Crib

LEGO enthusiast ZaziNombies made this Minecraft-themed castle at the request of one of his YouTube fans. Made of about 20,000 pieces, the castle is large enough to comfortably house the LEGO Ender Dragon, not to mention ZaziNombies’ cat.

Check out ZaziNombies’ video to see King Steve and the other details of the castle:

Head to ZaziNombies’ YouTube channel to check out his other LEGO creations. He should make a Sims-themed house. With wood and cement and such.
