Superhero ‘Serum’ Cologne Bottles: Scent of a Hero

This series of conceptual superhero ‘serum’ cologne bottles look very well designed. They were rendered by Charlotte, North Carolina based digital design firm Animink. I can definitely see superheroes wearing these colognes.

superhero cologne 620x775magnify

They look amazing and all have cool names to go along with the hero design. Like Hulk’s Rage, Batman’s Dark, Spider-Man’s Web and so on. Hey, you work up a sweat being a superhero, and deodorant only goes so far. You have to smell nice. Those costumes probably smell like 50-year-old cheese at the end of the night.

It ain’t easy being a hero. You might say that it stinks. Hit Animink for more designs.

Eau De Death: Zombie Repellent for the Apocalypse

Eau De Death

Shows like The Walking Dead give a glimpse of the future that could be in the case of a zombie apocalypse. Doesn’t look like a bright future, does it? If you believe the apocalypse is coming, then the first thing you have to do is take measures to make sure that you don’t get bitten. You don’t have to smear yourself with zombie gunk or wear clothes worn by the undead. All you’ll have to do is spritz on Eau De Death and you’ll be fine–in theory, that is.

Eau De Death was thought up by chemist Raychelle Burks. It essentially smells like rotting corpses, so this will not only ward of the dead but scare off the living as well. It’s essentially a mix of chemicals that the body naturally produces during decomposition: putrescine and cadaverine. A few drops of methanethiol are added into the mix to give it that nice rotting egg scent.

It’s not for sale, but at least we’ve got the potential first line of defense when the zombies come crawling.

Stan Lee Cologne Smells Nothing Like Stan

Stan Lee Cologne

This cologne might have been named after Stan Lee. Heck, it was probably inspired by him or created with his seal of approval. But don’t be misled, because it smells nothing like Stan ‘The Man’ himself. Unless he wears the cologne himself, of course.

It’s being made by JADS International, which was also the company behind the Avengers cologne. The Stan Lee cologne is described as being as “adventurous as Stan’s superheroes, yet it can make you feel a bit villainous.” Apparently, that’s how Stan wanted it for his fans who might be picking up a bottle or two of his signature cologne.

It has Stan’s personal touch as it possesses crisp blends of bergamot, ginger, white pepper, basil, and violet layered in with accords of cedar, vetiver and musk. This enticing scent will make you a “True Believer”.

Each bottle of cologne retails for $24.99.

Batman and Superman Colognes Make You Smell Super, Man.

Want to smell like Superman or Batman? Now is your chance. When you’re fighting crime, you want to smell your best. Otherwise, at the end of the day you are just going to smell like Joker sweat from beating up the Clown Prince of Crime.

batman superman colognes

You wear that tight suit all day and night, you fight bad guys, you fly around or zip from one building to another. You’re bound to work up quite a sweat. That’s why a super hero needs a super cologne.

The Batman cologne smells like Bergamot, Lavender, Black Pepper, with Cardamom, Geranium, Warm Patchouli and a hint of Vanilla Bean and Musk. The Superman version smells like Fresh Ozone, Ginger Zest, Lemon Sorbet, Crushed Greens, Nutmeg, Blood Red Grapefruit, with hints of Warm Amber Egyptian Musk. They each sell for $19.50 over at Hot Topic.

No word on when you’ll be able to smell like the other members of the Justice League.

Photokina 2012 wrap-up: Canon, Nikon, lust-worthy Leicas, a full-frame Sony compact and more

Photokina 2012 wrapup Canon's 6D, lustworthy Leicas, a fullframe Sony compact and more

The sun is setting on Germany's monster of a photo show, but Photokina didn't come and go without shaking up the industry. The biennial trade show drew all the big names -- Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony and many more manufacturers all had their latest wares on display for tens of thousands of photographers, journalists and local attendees -- with each company releasing a suite of impressive products. Canon and Nikon made an impression with their $2,100 6D and D600 full-frame DSLRs, while Olympus, Panasonic, Sony and Fujifilm each upped the ante with new mirrorless lineups, and Leica demoed its new M, which for the first time brings live-view and video capture to the high-end rangefinder series. The fun doesn't stop there, though -- there was plenty more to explore, and you'll find it all in our wrap-up just after the break.

We’re live from Photokina 2012 in Cologne, Germany!

We're live from Photokina 2012 in Cologne, Germany!

Germany just can't get enough of Engadget, it seems. Just two weeks after the close of IFA in Berlin, we're back in the land of Bier and Honig, for a camera-fueled journey to Cologne. This giant photography trade show is held only once every two years -- the last Photokina was way back in 2010 -- and it's arguably the industry's biggest event, drawing manufacturers the world abound to launch their latest prosumer and professional devices. We won't likely see a blockbuster product like Samsung's Galaxy Camera, but there could be another Android shooter or two in store, along with plenty of updates to last year's advanced compacts and mirrorless cams, and a modest spattering of full-frame DSLRs. We'll be bringing you all the news as it happens, so keep your eyes peeled to this very site to catch the action as it goes down.

Gamescom 2012 wrap-up

Gamescom 2012 wrapup

Cologne, city of cathedrals, chocolate museums and -- at least for the last week -- a little bit of cosplay. While Gamescom largely concentrated on the latest titles coming in the next year, there was still plenty to see for gadget obsessives -- especially when it came to PC mice and keyboards. Sony also had a few tricks up its sleeve at its press event before Gamescom had even begun in earnest. After the break, gorge on all the gaming hardware of note, in case you missed it on the first round. Tschüss!

We’re live from Gamescom 2012, in Cologne, Germany!

DNP We're live from Gamescom 2012, in Cologne, Germany!

Europe's premier gaming event starts today. In fact, Sony got the party started a little early, with its own press preview last night. The PlayStation maker is the only one of the Big Three to offer up a show here, but that shouldn't mean there's nothing else to see -- this is the place for game devs and manufacturers to make an impression on Europe's tastemakers and games journalists. If you're in the area, the show even opens up to Joe Public later this week. But if the Rhine seems a little too far away, there's nothing to worry about, we'll be bringing all the notable hardware additions -- just point your browser to our Gamescom 2012 tag. Our sister site, Joystiq, is also out in force in Deutschland, so check the More Coverage link for their take on what Gamescom's got to offer.
