Exercise Fabulously
There’s a new jump rope that will make you look fabulous while you exercise.
This LED embedded smart jump rope will make it fun to… well… jump. Because this LED jump rope is so pretty and shiny and it’s smart, it will also increase your productivity by recording the progress of your jumping number, time you’ve jumped and calorie loss. It’ll also display these metrics in front of you as you use it, through a “persistance of vision” effect. You can also set up your future jumping goals with your smartphone.
The LED embedded smart jump rope is around $89.99 to $258 based on the size you order from, meaning that for once short people have an advantage.

While Everything is Getting “Smart”, Do We Really Need Smart… Socks?
It’s not just because you can do something that you should actually do it. Or at least, we fail to see why adding connectivity to your freaking socks is of any importance at all. That hasn’t stopped a company called Blacksocks from creating the Calf Socks Classic with Plus+. Yeah… Smart Socks.
Imagine your phone could communicate with your socks. Your phone would know:
– which socks belong together, and could help sort them out,
– how often you have washed your socks,
– when your socks were produced,
– when you ordered your socks and
– when your socks were dispatched.
– Your iPhone can also tell you if your black socks are no longer properly black and help you buy new socks. This is something we dreamed about and we have made the dream come true. The result is Smarter Socks – probably the smartest socks in the world. They are undoubtedly the first socks which leave their mark on the internet via the Sock Sorter and your iPhone.
We can just imagine the company meeting where these socks were born, and how many ideas were thrown about until something stuck. We admire the company’s enthusiasm and hopefulness, but given the $189 price tag (for socks!!), we’re not sure the market will respond as enthusiastically.

Stagg EKG Electric Pour-Over Kettle Does Temperature Control
Every morning I make coffee in a French Press by boiling water and immediately pouring it over the grounds; this tastes fine by my unrefined standards. However, more discerning coffee enthusiasts might prefer a different and more specific water temperature; apparently some beans are better enjoyed when brewed at lower temps. The 1-litre Stagg EKG Electric Pour-Over Kettle gives you precise temperature control, and can hold your water at that precise spot for up to 30 minutes. Like many appliances these days, it’s connected and can be remotely controlled through an app. It’s $149.

The Growler Chill Is a Kegerator For Growlers
Getting your cold suds in a refillable growler is great way to bring fresh beer at home. But unless you’re going to drink the whole thing at once, there’s a good chance it’ll go flat in a hurry. The Growler Chill gives you options. It’s basically a tap for your growlers. It keeps up to three standard 60oz. growlers refrigerated and pressurized, right on your countertop. There’s even an oxygen purge system that goes an extra step towards keeping your brew as fresh and snappy as possible. It’s also a connected device that lets you control many of its features through your smartphone. It’s a $389 pledge, on a fully-funded campaign, with delivery slated for August 2017.

Alchemy Makes Cider Out Of Your Leftover Fruit
We’re a wasteful culture, always throwing things out when we shouldn’t. And while the Alchema Home Cider Making System isn’t designed for recycling, it’ll make it 100% more likely that you won’t simply throw out all the fruit your kids stubbornly refuse to eat. Instead, you can use them to make delicious homemade cider. The Alchema will sanitize your materials with medical grade UV-C LED light, and monitor the entire fermentation process as your fruit turn into hooch. The connected smartphone app can even suggest a recipe, so you can make something that tastes even better than whatever random collection of flavours you might’ve haphazardly thrown together. In 1-2 weeks, you’ll have up to 2.4L of tasty cider (about 3 wine bottles), made right at home. It’s $429 on pre-order, with shipping slated for fall 2017.
