The Igloo Trailmate Cooler Is One Serious Cooler

igloo-trailmate

Planning a party on the beach? You’re gonna need a cooler. You’re also going to need two guys with some muscle to carry the thing down from the parking lot. But not if you’ve opted for the Igloo Trailmate Cooler, which features oversized never-flat wheels that give the thing 10 inches of clearance, allowing one man to simply pull it to its destination. It’s a good thing too because this cooler packs a lot of stuff, with enough room in its 70 quart container for “112 cold ones”. The quality insulation means ice will remain unmelted for up to four days, while a water-resitant storage area will keep your personal items dry while you frolic. The carry handle telescopes out to give you a butler tray upon which to place a drink or three, and tie-down loops make it easy to carry extra gear up top. It’s $300.

This Hippie Van Holds Your Drinks, Keeps Them Cool

vw_camper_van_cooler_1

Back in the days when Volkswagen wasn’t embroiled in an emissions scandal, they made cars everyone wanted to own. The Westfalia became an iconic representation of the 1960’s hippy culture, and it lives on in many people’s hearts as a throwback to a simpler time when music sounded better and Kim Kardashian didn’t exist. Even though the company doesn’t make them anymore, you can still get one in the form of the Volkswagen Panel Van Cooler, a large, wheeled cooler for drinks.

It faithfully reproduces the same trim details of an early Samba model that became an iconic symbol of the free-spirited 1960s, including the original’s eight panoramic roof windows, fabric sunroof, and two-colored paint scheme. An overhanging “hat” (that previously shielded a driver’s eyes from the sun) runs around the cooler’s entire top, providing an easy grip for retrieving one’s preferred beverage from a spacious interior with 3/4″ of insulation that holds up to 24 16-oz. bottles and ice. Made from pressed steel, the cooler has a telescoping 24″-long handle pulls the cooler along on its 8″-diameter rubber tires, allowing you to steer the cooler’s front wheels into just the right spot next to a lawn blanket. Integrated drain hole in the rear.

This cooler is as much of a statement as it is a practical way to keep your beverages cold. But all the attention to detail, and quality craftsmanship means it’s not cheap: $500.

Gear Heads Need A Tactical Can Cooler

imvl_tactical_can_cooler

You’re looking at a koozie. Simple as that. But if you’re going to get a koozie/drink chiller sleeve thing, why not give it some personality. It seems “tactical” is the new “in” look, considering products like the Tactical Baby Carrier or the Tactical Laser-Guided Necktie. Now you can avoid getting your fingers wet from beer can condensation, while giving your drink a bit of a butch look.

– Nite Ops Can Cooler with LED Light
– A ThinkGeek creation & exclusive
– Great for gun and military enthusiasts
– 2 5/8″ opening fits standard 12 oz. beverage cans
– Twist the bottom to turn on/off LED flashlight
– Materials: ABS plastic
– Batteries: 3 AAA (not included)

Of course you may find it outrageous to charge $10 for a koozie, but considering all the “features”, it’s not such a bad deal.

The Artican Is The Koozie Reinvented

Arctican

Summer is upon us, and that means time in the sun with drink in hand, amirite? Nothing can ruin a lazy sunday quite as much as warm beer, so we expect koozies to be popular this year. But these drink insulators are limited in their effectiveness. The Artican is a brand new take on the koozie, featuring “2-layers of vacuum insulated steel & an ice-filled “cooling core” that screws into the bottom keeping your 12 oz. bevvies 3X colder for 3X longer—up to 3 hours in the sun actually.” The core is filled with a “proprietary freezing gel” with a high specific heat coefficient, meaning it can absorb a lot of heat before it starts to warm up, making for an effective temperature buffer. And while $20 may seem like a lot for a beer cooler, just remember the last time you sipped lukewarm lager and you might change your mind.

Yeti Colster Keeps Your Beers Colder Than Any Koozie Ever Could

yeti-colster-1

Cold beer tastes great as long as it’s cold. There are foam Koozies designed to help keep the heat away from your bottle and extend your low-temp taste window, but let’s face it, they sort of suck. Enter the Yeti Colster, an insulating container that accepts a standard beer bottle. Featuring double-walled vacuum insulation, and a rubber ThermoLock™ Gasket that locks in the cold, the Colster is able to keep that beer frosty for hours on end. The “no-sweat” design keeps your fingers dry and un-frostbit so you can keep on high-fiving your bros with impunity all night (or whatever it is you do when you drink beer).

And ok, yeah, at $30, it’s pretty damn expensive. But if you’re the beer-by-the-beach kind of person, it might be an investment worth considering.

Yeti Hopper Cooler Keeps Your Drinks Cold For Days

yeti-cooler-3

It seems the time is ripe for coolers to receive an update. After the furore caused by last week’s announcement of the Coolest Cooler, it’s only fitting to see news about yet another kind of innovative drink-chiling container. The Yeti Hopper Cooler is a waterproof bag with a 1 inch insulation throughout. It holds a massive 5.2 gallons of anything, which in theory is supposed to be a healthy mixture of loose ice and beverages. The zipper is watertight, which means you can toss it around and not worry about contents spilling out. And the claims are that the insulation is efficient enough to keep things cold for days. Whether that’s true or a marketing stretch on the word “days”, we don’t know. We can tell you that it’ll be available in October for $300, which is a hefty price to pay for something like this. Still, we haven’t come across many shoulder-mounted 5.2 gallon cooler bags, so you might be limited in your options if this is something you really want.

Coolest Cooler Is The Swiss-Army Knife Of Coolers

coolest-cooler

With the summer in full swing, coolers are cool again. And the coolest of them all really appears to be, well, the Coolest Cooler. Having blown way past their Kickstarter goal ($1M+ raised with a $50k goal), it appears lots of other people agree with the vision. See, this 60-quart cooler doesn’t just keep your liquids frosty, it also doubles as: a blender, a set of Bluetooth speakers, a USB charger, and more. There are LED lights to guide you to your drinks in the dark. There are tie-down straps to secure your other gear atop of it. Hefty tires ensure you don’t get bogged down in the sand. Internal dividers keep drinks separate from ice, if that’s what you want. Heck, there’s even a bottle opener.

It’s a pretty mind blowing cooler, and you’ll have to pledge $185 to get yours. That’s still much less than the expected $300 retail price.

eCool Beer Cooler Uses The Earth To Keep Your Suds Frosty

ecool-beer-cooler

Warm beer is as appetizing as cold soup (sorry, gazpacho lovers), but keeping the temperature down on your malt liquor does usually use up some electricity. If this thought rubs you the wrong way, take a look at the eCool Beer Cooler: it uses the coolness of the earth to keep the temperature down. Dig a deep hole, place the eCool in there, and you’ll have access to 24 beers that will be as cold as your ground is. Granted, if you live in a really warm climate, this may not be that cold. But in campgrounds and other places far removed from the grid, the eCool seems like a fantastic, if not ideal, solution. Also, the beers will allegedly not freeze in the winter, which could make this work year round.

Beers are shuttled up and down through a crank-powered conveyor belt, and installation procedures are described thusly: ” It’s advised to use a garden drill, but can be installed with a shovel as well, if you’re a real man (emphasis ours -Ed.). The earth cooler’s top is very well isolated and maintains about the same cooled temperature throughout the whole container.”

You’re going to have to be a “real man” with a deep wallet as well if you want to own the eCool, as the asking price is around $285.

SpinChill: Cold Beer in 60 Seconds

SpinChillTake two really smart Mechanical Engineers from the University of Florida, give them a luke warm beer and they come up with a brilliant idea. They used their knowledge of engineering, heat transfer and their love of cold beer to come up with the SpinChill.

They found that cooling a container of liquid in a tub of ice took much longer than if that container was constantly spinning. The reason for this has to do with heat transfer. If the container is just sitting in the ice the outside layer of the liquid cools and it insulates the inner liquid which slows down the overall cooling process. By spinning the container it allows the warm liquid in the center to reach the outer edge where it can be cooled instantly.

You would think that by spinning a can of a carbonated beverage it would make it explode and spray everywhere upon opening. Again, these guys are pretty smart and go into great detail on their site about the difference between shaking a can and spinning one. We won’t go into that amount of detail in this post, but trust us, it won’t explode. Immediately after spinchill-ing your beverage, you can open the can and have a nice refreshingly cold beverage in 60 seconds.

One of the things we wondered about was bottled beverages. It says on their site: “The Spin Chill quickly cools almost any container of beer, soda, or wine by spinning it in ice.” But they don’t show it being used with any bottled beverage. For $29.99 you can own one of these now, or for $12.00 you can buy just their “Chill Bit” which has an adapter to run off of your own drill.
