New Craftsman Toolboxes Can Be Unlocked with Your Smartphone
Tools are pretty expensive, which is why we buy expensive toolboxes, so we can organize them and lock them up so our tools are safe. The problem with toolboxes are the keys. If you lose your key, you are going to have to replace your toolbox – or at least call a locksmith. Well, Craftsman’s new toolboxes fix that problem.
Craftsman’s Pro Series storage units have Bluetooth-connected locks that can be opened and secured using a mobile app. As long as you don’t lose your smartphone, you should be okay. You can also set up a proximity lock through the app, so it will only open when your phone is within a certain range. The chest can also be opened remotely using your phone if you want to give someone else access while you’re away. It can even let you know if it’s been tampered with. Of course, you can still use a key if you want, but what fun would that be?
These toolboxes will be available this October in sizes ranging from 26- to 52-inches wide. The drawers can each support up to 200 pounds, so you can load them up with a lot of heavy tools. Here’s another great feature: Underneath the top lid is a larger compartment with a built-in six outlet power strip that has two USB ports for charging tools or other devices. These are some really useful new features.
It’s about time they updated the toolbox. Prices will range from $730 to $1550, depending on size and configuration.
