DAB Motors’ DeLorean themed e-bike transports you Back To The Future

DAB Motors has rapidly evolved into a niche electric motorbike company that values its French roots. Having numerous takers for their DAB 1α, the outfit has created bold iterations of the acclaimed bike first as a Paris Olympics-themed ride, and more recently as an eye-popping transparent e-bike inspired by the retro gaming consoles.

Just when we thought the French motorhead studio would take a breather, there’s another surprise that’ll garner many more fanatics for the DAB 1α. Draped in a stainless steel body frame, this DeLorean DMC-12-inspired motorbike carries the industrial design influence of a café racer, and of course the retro charm of the timeless DeLorean!

Designer: DAB Motors Custom Studio

November 5 is chosen as the release of this two-wheeler, since this is the day depicted in the flick when time travel was first tested. The custom motorbike is flush with every possible element of the Back to the Future movie and DMC-12’s visual aesthetics. The CNC-machined rims and the vents are classic DeLorean with an ‘OUTTATIME’ license plate taking you back in time. The speedometer on this one-off DAB 1α is capped at 88 mph, exactly the speed for future time travel shown in the movie. A dummy flux capacitor built into the chassis gives it a pure industrial look, elevating its retro charm. To extend the realism, this DAB 1α is paired with a classic skateboard and P-cap, both in peppy colors.

As Simon Dabadie, founder of DAB Motors rightly puts it, “Growing up in the ’90s, cinema introduced me to icons that shaped my imagination. The DeLorean DMC-12, for example, stood out as more than a car — it was a vision of bold design and innovation.” We second that completely as DeLorean has been more than just another classic car that’s admired for a design way ahead of its time. He further adds, “This new bike is an ideal canvas to showcase DAB Motors’ commitment to creativity and craftsmanship, blending technical skill with bold, boundary-pushing design. Just as the DMC-12 redefined automotive aesthetics, this model captures DAB’s innovative spirit, honoring the future shaped by past icons.”

If you are already having daydreams of buying this Back to the Future-inspired bike and parking it alongside your prized DeLorean, hold your horses as it is limited to just one piece. The next best option is to go for the regular DAB 1α and get a trusted auto tuner shop to get the DeLorean-inspired look.

We got an Electric DeLorean before we got GTA 6…

A symbol of the 1980s and cinematic nostalgia, the DeLorean is making its comeback… not as a relic but rather as a forward-thinking electric vehicle. Lynx Motors, a brand known for its dedication to reviving classic sports cars, has announced the launch of the DMC-EV. This modern reimagining of the iconic DeLorean DMC-12 combines the car’s legendary design with the latest in electric vehicle technology, offering a unique blend of retro appeal and futuristic innovation.

Designer: Lynx Motors

The exterior of the DMC-EV stays true to the original design by Giorgetto Giugiaro, with sleek lines that instantly evoke memories of the 1980s classic. However, Lynx Motors has made several updates to bring the car into the modern era. The most noticeable changes include LED lighting at the front and rear, as well as larger, transparent panels that give the car a more contemporary look. The badging on the car has been updated to include both the Lynx and DMC-EV logos, signaling the car’s transition into the electric age. The vehicle also features larger wheels, and owners will have the option to customize the side skirts and bumpers, allowing for a personalized touch that departs from the stainless steel finish of the original DMC-12.

The interior of the DMC-EV, however, has been completely overhauled to meet modern standards. The centerpiece of the cabin is a large touchscreen display that spans the width of the dashboard, providing the driver with all the necessary information at a glance. The seats are upholstered in high-quality leather, adding a touch of luxury to the vehicle. The center console now features a wireless phone charger and a large rotary dial, making it both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The steering wheel has been redesigned as well, featuring a sporty look with carbon fiber accents and perforated leather, further enhancing the driving experience.

Under the hood, the DMC-EV draws power from four high-output in-wheel electric motors, delivering all-wheel drive and ensuring optimal performance on the road. These motors are supplied by a 70kWh CATL battery pack, which provides a range of approximately 402 kilometers on a single charge. The DMC-EV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in under four seconds, a feat that underscores its high-performance capabilities. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with Tesla’s NACS charging port, allowing it to access Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network in the United States, making long-distance travel more convenient for its owners.

Lynx Motors has opened reservations for the DMC-EV, with a starting deposit of $2,500 USD. While the exact pricing of the vehicle remains somewhat ambiguous, with figures ranging between $249,999 and $299,500 USD, the demand for this reimagined classic is expected to be high. Deliveries are slated to begin next year, and the DMC-EV will join Lynx’s lineup alongside the GT1e, another electric restomod based on the 2005 Ford GT.

Custom DeLorean DMC-12 electric plug-and-play kit breathes clean life into an aging classic

DeLorean Alpha5 is DMC’s take on the electrified future, all set to release the modern roadster later this year. The interest in an electric version of the iconic car, made famous by the Back to The Future franchise, took a long time to materialize, but finally, it did.

Coming back to the present, the EV still has some months to roll off the manufacturing lines. Perhaps the perfect time for Electrogenic (UK-based EV conversion specialist) to release a plug-and-play kit for the DeLorean DMC-12. As surreal as that might sound, this drop-in solution will beef up the performance of the otherwise coughing DeLorean. The company has previously designed specialized kits for famous models like Land Rover, Porsche 911, Jaguar E-Type and a custom 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom II for Jason Mamoa.

Designer: Electrogenic

Well before the Cybertruck honed about the stainless steel exterior, the DMC-12 had it back in the late 1970s. Now Electrogenic is revamping the drivetrain of the gull-winged car and making clever changes to the overall design. All this while maintaining the integrity and signature DNA of the original vehicle. While the official electric DeLorean coming to life pretty soon has a futuristic aesthetic, different from the original, this kit will preserve most of what made it a cult favorite.

Designing an electric drivetrain for any car model is no ordinary feat, let alone doing it for a car from the 1980s. The company states that its version is future-proof and is completely reversible if the client doesn’t like it for some reason. Going back to the old engine seems unlikely for proud DMC-12 owners who’ve decided to take the leap I believe. Coming onto the specifications, the conversion kit has 43 kWh batteries placed right where the original fuel tank would reside. The upgraded DeLorean will have 160 kW of power and 229 lb-ft of torque at its disposal. Like all Electrogenic kits, this one also comes with fast charging capabilities. The only limitation due to the chassis size of the vehicle is the limited range of 150 miles but I’m not complaining.

No cutting of the chassis is required as the electric kit’s battery packaging is designed smartly. Although the battery package adds 40kg to the overall weight of the V6 DeLorean, the powerful new electric drivetrain brings down the acceleration time. It will be capable of going from 0-60 mph in five seconds compared to the ten seconds on the original. Modern EV features are also a novelty here with inclusions like regenerative braking and driving modes depending on requirements. On the inside, the car owners can opt for a bespoke virtual dashboard, Launch Control, improved air conditioning or Apple Car Play.

This all roader DeLorean packs power with 4×4 drivetrain and kills with its sharp looks

DeLorean DMC 12 is a cult favorite even after so many iconic cars have made their presence felt and then faded away eventually. The rear-engine two-passenger sports car spiced up the early 80s with its futuristic appeal but couldn’t manage to survive in the closely contested power domination landscape owing to its underpowered engine.

The company revived this nostalgic ride after decades of anticipation as an electric avatar last year with production promised for 2024. That gives concept designers yet another chance to muster up their imagination of a DeLorean with a refreshing new perspective.

Designer: Jeremy Dodd

Look at this imaginative concept that pits the sports car against the rugged terrain with a makeover. Dubbed the DeLorean All Roader, this is also an electric version but with some modifications to the original’s blueprint to appeal to the adventurous kind. The 4×4 drivetrain makes it capable enough to venture on the dirt tracks, but the ride hide makes me believe otherwise.

Jeremy has reinterpreted the original to have roof rails for carrying your skis in winter or loading other adventure gear that fits. The engine sits on the rear and the front hood has ample space to stash luggage and trip essentials so that the interiors can be used just for relaxing when parked. That rear windshield flows down to make space for an extra wheel carrier, and to be frank, it adds character to this DeLorean’s rear profile.

The front grille section has been modernized with sharp LED headlights and the rear follows suit with peppy taillights. Overall aesthetics have the sharpness balanced down by the white paint job. The black rims add contrast to the look, but as I earlier, the ride height needs to be increased with dampers if you want to confidently take it on rough roads.

Compared to the upcoming Alpha 5 – that’s got a very boxy, contoured profile – this one retains the original’s DNA in a subtle way. I would any day choose this personality of a DeLorean over the inevitable Alpha 5 that’s going to look like any other sports car out there.

DeLorean Model JZD gull-winged coupe all set to revive memories of classic DMC-12

After a lull of decades, DeLorean Motor Company finally pulled the wraps off of its grand tourer and created quite a buzz. The American automotive swagger revealed the electric coupe Christened Alpha5 after a gap of nearly four decades and now yet another DeLorean beacons above the horizon. However, it’s not a DMC product, but rather a marque by Kat DeLorean – the daughter of the original brand’s namesake.

A direct lineage to John DeLorean, the new brand dubbed DeLorean Next Generation Motors (DNG) has teased its first model all set to become a reality in 2023. Watch the Model-JZD (an acronym for John Zachary DeLorean) all set to revive the nostalgic memories of the classic DMC-12. Gosh, it looks so similar to the sports car that shot to fame after its appearance in the Back to the Future franchise!

Designer: DNG Motors

As per the currently available details, the DMC-12 knockoff will roll on the production lines in January 2023 at Kat’s backed company at the Detroit, Michigan factory. Going by the timeline, the official unveiling is expected by the end of next year, probably in time for the festive season. Despite being so close to production, the details of the gull-winged Model JZD are scanty, as not much has been let out in the official press release. One thing that’s been made clear is the fact that DeLorean Next Generation Motors is in no way associated with the DeLorean Motor Company.

Even at this point in time, it is not clear if the coupe will be powered by an internal combustion engine, an all-electric powertrain, or a hybrid of both. According to them, the new company is “not supported or endorsed in any way by John DeLorean and we do not wish to be associated with their actions against his Legacy.” Speaking of which, Kat has an engineering background and has been closely associated with her father’s iconic designs. Therefore, the Model JZD is also deep-rooted in the values of “quality, safety, longevity, and affordability” of John who passed away in 2005.

In her Instagram post, Kat clearly speaks passionately about her dream to build this company and give back to society. She very passionately says that these cars will fuel everyone’s dreams, and the more successful Model JZD will be, the more opportunities it’ll create for upcoming models under the brand name.

DeLorean Omega 2040 is a baja-themed off-road EV built for post-apocalyptic world

DeLorean Motor Company has satisfied automotive lovers’ longing to revive cherished memories of the “Back to the Future” movies with its gull-winged Alpha5 EV launch. The American automotive company is not stopping at that though as they’ve teased two more concepts. One of them is aimed at the near future while the other is for a dystopian world set in 2040.

The two concepts were revealed at the inaugural DeLorean House’s “A Glimpse Into The Future” event at the Pebble Beach Automotive week 2022. While the 2024 Alpha5 Plasmatail concept is the extension of the fresh coupe, we are more interested in the off-roading capable Omega 2040 concept.

Designer: DeLorean

This Baja-styled concept is nowhere close to reality by 2022 standards, but then, we are talking of the year 2040. The electric vehicle will be tailored for off-road trails, perhaps designed for a radically changed topography owing to climate change and human-induced drought. DeLorean themselves is labeling this design as something that’s a complete detour from the traditional automotive design.

The two-seater vehicle also seems like a mix of race truck and moon rover from its lower half – the wheels and chassis to be precise. That bumped-up ride height, and the chunky wheels with those rims are made for a post-apocalyptic world. The independent suspension system on all four wheels hints at its high-performance quotient without any doubt. Coming from the house of DeLorean, it’s not surprising since they are accustomed to creating futuristic rides.

Headlights and taillights on the Omega 2040 are the sharpest designed you’ll ever get to see on a four-wheeler. The windshield follows down to the rear with an array of honeycomb-shaped solar panels on the panoramic glass. Overall, the Omega 2040 boasts an aerodynamic design for EV drivetrain efficiency. Those robust-looking spoilers extended out of the body both on the front and rear add an air of dynamism to the EV concept, and we love it!

DeLorean reimagined as a bold electric vehicle made for tough terrains

The most anticipated electric car of the decade is finally going to hit the tarmac in August later this year, and I can’t wait already. Yes, the iconic DMC DeLorean sports car that defined the pop culture of the 1980s and spilled far beyond just a couple of decades of fame is going to now be resurrected as an EV model. Earlier in the year, the gull-winged silhouette of the upcoming DeLorean excited all automotive fans, and now they’ve dropped a very clear half shot of the car’s rear, and a press release to keep all speculations alive. So, I can confidently say, the DeLorean is going to be back in the future!

The iconic car is in fact all set to hit the limelight on August 18, 2022, at the prestigious Awards Ramp at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. From what we see in the teaser image, the EV is going to follow the norm with a modern silhouette and this concept gives our imagination wings. If we ignore the rear that looks more akin to the Bugatti Chiron, the EV could be pretty similar to what we see in these renders. A bold form factor with an intimidating front could be on the cards. The side profile has to be sharp and flowing with a supercar-like domineer but slightly bend towards the coupe persona too. As per Troy Beetz, CMO of DeLorean Motor Company Inc,0 “Excitement is rising like the doors of our iconic sports car, and we are revealing the next generation prototype 3 days earlier than planned on the most prestigious stage at Pebble beach.”

Designer: Recom Farmhouse, Kate Brown and Marvin Lübke

The shining silver hue of the Delorean in the official teased image signals a very Tesla Model 3 like skin for the DeLorean, and that’s absolutely understandable. The slightly darker hues of the concept pictured here could be another color option for the buyers. The renders of the DeLorean pictured in the valley of Wadi Rum desert is an indicator of the hyped car’s anticipation amongst the cult followers who want to own anything linked to Back to the Future movie.

DeLorean E mashes up past with the future as a cool eye candy electric vehicle

One glance at this DeLorean EV and I know the past is back, reshaping the future. The two-seater ride has a windshield that opens up completely to the back, giving access to the vehicle, and probably the only entry point to the inside cabin. Yes, it indeed has no gull-winged doors like the classic one!

The DeLorean Motor Company has had its set of controversies, and some even label it as a flawed icon. The first DMC DeLorean rolled out of the production lines in 1980 and just a year later the production was halted with only 9,000 cars seeing the light of day. Presently only around 6,500 DeLoreans are on the road and a clean one carries a value of around $35,000 – $45,000. The chunk of its popularity is attributed to the “Back to the Future” franchise which in itself is a cult favorite movie. There are speculations since long that the classic sports car will make a comeback, and all automotive fans are eagerly waiting for the modern avatar of a car that deserved more than it got!

This concept rendering by transportation designer Onkar H takes a dig at what a DeLorean of the future will be like. Of course, it has to be electric to stand a chance of longevity in the closely contested automotive market that’s going through a metamorphosis for an electric vehicle-dominated near future. An electric DeLorean E powered by 4 high-performance motors and a mid-mounted battery pack is what the passionate fans will take with both hands. After all, it kills two birds with one stone – owning a classic piece of history that doesn’t sound alienated in the EV landscape.

Rightly called the DeLorean E, the two-seater electric avatar of the iconic car is a mashup of the Cybertruck influenced color theme and the modernized edgy lines of the DeLorean. There’s an array of cool LED headlights on the front section and a matrix of taillights bringing in the EV vibe that I liked very much. The windshield is more panoramic now, extending to the roof minus the pillars for an airier feel inside. The hood gets a streamlined geometric pattern to go with the overall flowing character of the vehicle. Overall boxy styling and smooth silhouette of the original DeLorean have been preserved to maintain the nostalgic element. Onkar imagines the DeLorean E in metallic silver and cool blue color variants – I absolutely love that Gen-Z feels of it!

This gull-winged DeLorean DMC-12 in low-rider boots steals the limelight at SEMA 2021

DeLorean DMC-12 changed the landscape of science fiction movies to a level that has automotive fans still reeling over “Back to the Future”. We see the reason though – the iconic 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 “Time Machine” made it through to the elusive club of cars at the National Historic Vehicle Register and is only the 29th car to make it through. The cult status the DeLorean enjoys is justified!

A great example is this outlandish carbon widebody modification by Boca Raton-based customization shop Salvage2Salvage in close quarters with automotive designer Khyzyl Saleem. This baby stole eyeballs at the recently concluded SEMA 2021 show. The Back to The Future ride was nowhere near this cool when the S2S lead fabricator Tim Moceri picked up a wrecked DMC-12, stripped it down to the barebones, and got down to giving it this drool-worthy makeover. While it looks like a beast from the outside, it doesn’t have the stock V6 engine or the flux capacitor with 1.21 GW of power to make one go tumbling down into the past.

Instead, it gets the 5.3-liter LS3 V8 engine hooked to a pair of Garrett turbochargers – churning out an impressive 1,000bhp. The gearbox is salvaged from a 996 generation Porsche 911, making it a classic mix of retro goodness any automotive lover will be willing to shell out a hefty sum of dollars. Alright, coming back to the mechanical components, the drivetrain is snug in place on the back – the turbo literally hangs underneath the car, making it a sports car you won’t want to ride on the race track chicanes or speedbumps of-course.

The final build seen at the automotive show is based on Khyzyl’s concept renderings, and it pretty much managed to emulate in real life, the vision on paper. It gets right the rear engine louver, blade-style headlights, and the active grid taillights. Or, for that matter the lowered suspension for a low rider-like appeal and the bulbous wheel arches draping the deep dish Sköl alloy wheels. Modern inclusions come in the form of custom wiring harnesses, a soundproof cabin, bumped-up STATUS seating, and the bespoke aluminum trim.

According to Tim, the wide-body kit will be replaced by carbon fiber in the future. So, will the modified KW suspension that’ll give way to an Air Lift Performance air-ride set up to strike the right balance? Until then, this DeLorean classic’s remake will be etched long in our memories.

From Tesla Roadster to DeLorean DMC-12, watch these iconic cars in their badass avatar!

Los Angeles-based digital artist Bradbuilds knows what tingles the nerves of motorheads who can’t get enough of badass four-wheelers. His concept creations are both fascinating as well as practical to a wide genre of audience. All of them are basically a high steroid infusion of what popular vehicles could be in real life. The likes of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Beetle, Corvette, and many other. Bradbuilds’ off-road creations have been loved in the last years or so and here are the ones we couldn’t help but appreciate.

Tesla Roadster Safari

Build for an eventual apocalypse, the Tesla Roadster Safari is straight out from a Doomsday movie plot with the intention of making it through any Armageddon. It gets the Tesla’s all-electric drivetrain and the solar panels fitted on the roof and sides make sure you don’t run out of power while being ambushed by zombies.

Tesla Off-Road Cybertruck

If you are also from the camp who thinks the Cybertruck missed out on something, this creation justifies the belief. Big chunky tires, and a reinforced suspension and steering rods makes this concept Cybertruck a beast ready to conquer any terrain, and that too in style.

DeLorean DMC-12

The iconic DMC-12 gets a boost in its armor courtesy of the elongated suspension and crash protection on the undercarriage. This is matched with the all-terrain tires, the nostalgic Doc Brown’s reactor and rear cooling fans. Who on the face of the earth would deny this DeLorean’s off-roading DNA!

BMW M4 Camping Trailer

Next, we have another one of my favorite creations by the artist – the BMW M4 camping trailer. The personality of the coupe virtual takes a headstand with a one-man camping trailer neatly fitted inside the boot and leading up to the roof. If you like things sexy, this solo ride is the one that fits the bill.

Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech

The perfect cocktail of MadMax and Cyberpunk 2077 takes shape in the form of this mean Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech facelifted for any uncanny chase thrown its way. The fat tires and a robust suspension system lifts the car like it was born that way – it looks so natural. Another one of my favorite from the collection.

Lamborghini Urus Off-Road

How about a Lamborghini Urus for an off-road makeover that’s irresistible? Yes, Bradbuilds doesn’t shy from experimenting with digital designs no one else would even dream of. This off-road Lamborghini Urus is a classic example.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is already a very capable 4×4 off-roader. But Bradbuilds thinks it can get better in a new avatar. The big protruding wheels and the buggy-like rear give a true character of an off-roader that can take on inclines of more than 45 degrees – perfect for motorheads!

Designer: Bradbuilds
