The design of this watch prominently features the iconic glow of the Nixie tube, recognized for its warm orange light that adds a retro yet futuristic charm. This aesthetic is a purposeful homage to an era when technology was valued for its form and function, starkly contrasting the often impersonal feel of contemporary digital devices. The use of genuine Soviet-era IN16 Nixie tubes not only lends authenticity to the watch but also makes it a unique collector’s item due to the rarity of these components, which were phased out for more efficient display technologies.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it incorporates advanced features like gesture-based activation, which lights up the Nixie display with a simple wrist lift, eliminating the need for manual operation and enhancing the user experience. This feature adds a layer of convenience and contributes to the watch’s energy efficiency by ensuring that the display is only activated when needed.

Lift the wrist to wake the watch

The charging experience marries convenience with aesthetic harmony, featuring a bespoke wireless charger designed to mirror the watch’s unique look while delivering efficient power. This tailored solution underscores the watch’s seamless blend of form and function. Further enhancing its user-friendly appeal, the watch is fully compatible with all Qi-standard wireless chargers, ensuring you can keep your timepiece powered using any Qi-certified charging pad. Whether at home, in the office, or on the move, this universal compatibility ensures that your BTF Nixie Watch remains charged and ready, embodying the perfect fusion of retro design and modern convenience.

Easily recharge using any Qi-compatible wireless charging pad

Another cool feature is the timer, which combines the nostalgic charm of Nixie tubes with the practicality of modern technology. Initiating the timer is effortlessly intuitive; a quick double-tap on the watch’s lower button engages the timer mode, priming it for use with just a simple gesture. To start the timer, a single tap suffices, setting it in motion from zero and allowing for precise tracking up to 99 seconds. This feature proves invaluable for a myriad of everyday tasks and moments where precision is crucial, such as timing exercises during a workout or monitoring short intervals while cooking, showcasing the watch’s blend of vintage charm and modern utility.

Double-tap tap lower button to activate the timer feature

The BTF Nixie Watch offers flexibility in time display, allowing users to easily switch between 12-hour and 24-hour formats to suit personal preferences or cultural norms. This feature enhances the watch’s versatility, catering to a global audience and diverse user needs.

The designer combines ergonomic design with an intuitive user interface, ensuring comfortable wear and ease of use. Its thoughtful layout elements cater to user comfort, while the seamless interaction between its vintage and modern components provides a straightforward, enjoyable experience. This approach underscores the watch’s commitment to making advanced technology accessible and delightful to use.

The sapphire glass on the watch’s face ensures durability and clarity

Worn on the wrist, the watch transforms the concept of timekeeping into an art form, blending technological innovation with unparalleled craftsmanship. Including a sapphire surface on the watch’s face is an aesthetic enhancement that ensures durability and clarity. Known for its scratch resistance and hardness, sapphire glass protects the watch while offering a crystal-clear view of the Nixie tubes’ captivating glow, ensuring the time is always visible in its full, luminous splendor.

The sapphire glass is durable and scratch-resistance

The watch comes with two unique case options to cater to different tastes and needs. The 7-series aluminum variant, commonly used in aerospace and military applications, provides an excellent balance of durability and lightness. As a result, the watch can withstand daily wear and tear while remaining comfortable and unnoticeable on the wrist.

For those seeking an extra touch of elegance and resilience, the titanium frame is an ideal choice, offering high strength and corrosion resistance, which keeps the watch looking sleek and new over time, regardless of the environment. These carefully selected materials and customization options reflect the watch’s blend of luxury, functionality, and personal expression, making it a versatile accessory for any occasion.

Besides its technical specifications and customization options, the BTF Nixie Watch provides a distinct identity. Unlike a traditional watch, this timepiece stands out and speaks volumes of individuality, offering wearers the chance to express themselves through a piece that is as rare as it is handsome.

The BTF Nixie Watch combines style, engineering, and history that goes beyond telling time. It invites wearers to appreciate the precision and functionality of a high-quality timepiece and connect with the aesthetic and emotional resonance of a bygone era while enjoying the comforts and conveniences of contemporary technology.

Wear your attitude with Cybertruck-inspired Future Warrior OLED watch from Benly Design

Elon Musk’s darling, the Tesla Cybertruck, cannot be left out of the news, or can it? Turns out not! After inspiring campers, pick-ups, and tents, the ultra-futuristic Cybertruck, way ahead of its time in terms of design and appearance, has now stirred the horology world.

Carrying the same distinctive geometric shape and a powerful metallic touch to it, the Future Warrior OLED digital watch from Benly Design embodies the sense of coolness and futurism. At first glance itself, the shape of the watch reflects the Cybertruck image, impersonating the distinctiveness. The cool look and the automotive styling of the watch make it a desirable timepiece.

Designer:  Benly Design

The Benly Design’s watch is priced at $110, pretty affordable for its absolute uniqueness, which sees the watch display divided into two sections within its zinc alloy casing. The bottom half features an OLED panel angled toward the wearer, and the top section has a visible circuit board with an LED backlight.

The angled digital OLED display is a nifty design tweak, it permits the wearer to see the time without twisting the wrist. The display comes alive when the arm is raised so viewing time is easy, without clicking a button or tapping the display, through the mineral glass overlay.

This at-a-glance electronic watch with a nice, visible OLED backlight display, can be your everyday partner unlike those smartwatches that run on batteries or the manual-wound counterparts. The Future Warrior doesn’t require power for charging every day, it comes with a solar panel to keep it going for years without fail.

Complementing the angular zinc alloy case of the watch is the accompanying sandblasted stainless steel strap with buckle clasp. The watch case measures 19mm thick and has a 39.9mm width. By that measurement, the watch is ideally sized for smaller wrists as well, and along with time function, it also has 12/24H, stopwatch, alarm, temperature, humidity, date and day features.

The Benly Design Cybertruck-inspired timepiece is waterproof up to 30m. To that accord, it is suitable for swimming in shallow water or taking it for a cold shower. Making a bold statement with its design and material usage, the eye-catching watch can make for a cool gift to someone who loves wristwatches especially, if you are not a big motorhead with a wristwatch fanaticism yourself.

Bulova Computron D-CAVE watch mashes gaming and NFT in a classic LED timepiece

Digital watches might be sundry and common these days, but they were quite revolutionary back in the 70s, especially during the LED craze. Although it definitely eschewed conventional digital watch designs, Bulova’s Computron was so beautifully quirky in its mix of luxury and technology that it became an icon of its time. We are at the cusp of another major shift in technologies and product designs, and Bulova wants to again be at the forefront of this “phygital” revolution with a special version of the Computron, now with a hand inside the Metaverse jar.

Designer: Bulova

The original Computron itself, as well as its more recent “Re-Edition,” is already a thing of beauty. Designed with an unconventional trapezoidal body, the watch’s unique shape allows wearers to see the time without having to twist their wrists. That is why it has earned the nickname “drivers’ watch” and has since then been unparalleled in that design.

Bulova is now bringing the Computron back with a twist that tries to appeal to a very different crowd. Inspired by gaming aesthetics, the Computron D-CAVE edition watch sports a black stainless steel case with black silicone straps and luminous green highlights that match the watch’s green LED time display. It’s a design that would call to mind gaming brands like Razer and Alienware, which is probably what Bulova and D-CAVE were aiming for.

More interesting, however, is the special edition of the watch that has a mineral crystal case top serving as a window into the watch’s internals. This special edition also comes with an NFT drop that will let buyers wear a digital version of the watch in the Decentraland Metaverse platform. This special edition is still marked as coming soon, but you can already buy the regular “Iconic Edition” for $450 or cryptocurrencies just to complete the circle.

Curiously, Bulova sees the Computron D-CAVE as an entry into a new way of living, putting down its stake in the Metaverse. It positions its first-ever “phygital” product as a representation of how the physical world will integrate with digital life. Bulova naturally also sees the Metaverse as an opportunity to express love for certain brands in the digital realm, like a certain watchmaker’s iconic classic timepiece turned gamer’s lifestyle product.

CasiMod Nuclear Royale is a tougher-looking custom Casio AE1200 mod

Casio AE1200 Nuclear Royale Announcement

The name of this watch may be a trigger for many people, especially those watching what’s been happening in Ukraine, but it is just a nickname for a regular watch. CasiMods have redesigned the Casio AE1200 and we are in awe at the effort the designer put into it.

The classic Casio Royale model has been customized by Benson C. He has been spending time working on digital watch modifications and finds joy in coming up with unique watch designs. Benson has been saying he is knee-deep in watch modifications, and we can clearly see that in the Nuclear Royale.

Designer: Benson C of CasiMods

The Casio Nuclear Royale comes with details that are very technical and industrial. The base watch’s aesthetics get some oomph with the addition of the nuclear symbol. Of course, it may not be the best time to be flaunting such a sign, but we’re just looking at this post-apocalyptic design as just another watch to own.

The watch is CasiMods’ 8th project, so you can see the 008 on top of the watch surface. Some of the modifications the designer made include the addition of metal screws and the nuclear sign. In addition, there is a red dot on the map plus a grid window overlay. Notice the minor weather for added effect, which is also evident on the custom zulu strap.

The Nuclear Royale will not tell you when it is time for doomsday. It will just tell you that it’s time to get moving or work on that task you’ve been putting off to do. Whatever that is, we just hope you finish before the deadline. Your work shouldn’t slow down even if the world seems to be getting crueler each passing day.

The designer of the watch, Benson, has been modding watches since 2018. He began with watch modding with mechanical watches but had since been doing digital watch modifications. He is now on his 8th mod after embracing the beauty of digital watches and the fact you can do more with them compared to mechanical watches.

Benson has always been interested in different designs, including minimalist, technical, retro-futuristic, and military. He implements those designs in different watches, as seen on other versions of the Casio AE1200, including The Greens and The Mountaineer. You see, there are other Casio Modding enthusiasts, so the Nuclear Royale definitely has an audience.

The designer uses dramatic and animated aesthetics for the digital watches as they are easy to apply. He also implements weathering and ads more hardware for effect. To goal of this Casion modder is to deliver wearable watches that have their character.

Casio AE1200 Nuclear Royale Design

To review, the base model is a Casio AE1200. It is a basic digital watch that offers world time and an LED light with Afterglow. It comes in a plastic body with an LCD. It is a multifunction watch with a battery life that can last up to ten years. It is not a rugged watch like the G-Shock but is ready for rough use. It also offers a 100m water resistance, so the watch can stay safe underwater if you drop it or if you’re diving.

Casio often revives the classics with modern versions. While the Nuclear Royale isn’t an official product from Casio, it certainly commands attention. The watch can stimulate your imagination as the theme is relevant these days. We are not anticipating World War III, but with this watch, you can probably contemplate what’s been happening. We know we can only do so much, but we can start helping by not being apathetic and unaware of social issues.

Casio AE1200 Nuclear Royale Prototype

Custom Casio watches are nothing new, but we find them more interesting these days. It doesn’t have to be expensive or shine like a diamond for a watch to stand out. It only needs to look different from those you see in the market.

Casio watches are not that expensive, so you can do anything you want with them. We remember that quirky Casio Vintage Pac-Man Edition Watch and the Casio concept that arrived with a removable face dial. Only true blue watch collectors may understand the hype, but there is something more special about owning timepieces that you cannot find anywhere else. Good thing there is CasioMods for designs you won’t usually see anywhere else.

Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 brings a modern touch to a classic timepiece

Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 Where to Buy

Girard-Perregaux is a name known for luxury watches. One of its most popular designs produced in the late 70s was the Casquette. It was released in 1976 up to 1978 so every piece from before is now considered vintage. Over 8,000 units have been sold and until today, pieces are still sought after by watch collectors. It’s about time Girard-Perregaux introduces a new version of the retro timepiece. The Casquette 2.0 has just been announced but as of this writing, all pieces have been sold out online.

Designer: Girard-Perregaux

Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 Digital Watch

The watch still maintains the original’s design language but with a number of enhancements. The new version boasts a ceramic case and a Grade 5 titanium caseback that are hypoallergenic and scratch-resistant. Those are just some of the watch traits that make this Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 a worthy buy.

Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 Luxury Quartz

The watch comes with an ergonomic case that fits all users. The lightweight watch is only 107g so comfort to the wearer is not a problem. The unit uses Girard-Perregaux’s very own quartz Calibre GP3980 tech that shows the time, date, and day plus a few additions.

Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 Specs

Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 Image

There is a titanium badge and titanium pushers placed on top of the watch head. The period GP logo is seen on the lower right part of the head. The design includes a ceramic bracelet partnered with a folding titanium buckle. What makes it safe to wear is the rubber interior that also provides flexibility. This part makes it more comfortable compared to the original Casquette.

About 8,200 pieces of the original Casquette were made but now, the Swiss watchmaker has decided to release only 820 pieces. That makes every piece that will be sold very special. It’s already sold out online but you can try buying from stores that carry the luxury brand.

The quartz movement of the original Casquette has been retained here as well but with a few additional functions. The watch also now shows the month, year, second timezone, chronograph, plus a secret date in red tubular LED numbers.

Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 Design

The Girard-Perregaux has always been known for watches with timeless style and premium quality. The vintage Casquette has proven that a luxurious design can last a lifetime. The second version delivers the same opulence but now looks more modern. It can definitely last another 46 years just like the original version.

The Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 is a mix of vintage, modern, and industrial. Retro watches being given a new twist seem to be all the rage these days. We doubt Girard-Perregaux and other watchmakers will stop with such a move. Most watch aficionados don’t mind the premium price tag as long pieces are unique, interesting, rare, or vintage. The Casquette 2.0 comes in a boxy case and costs $4,700.

Casio’s vintage Pac-Man edition watch is just quirky enough to be a great memorabilia!

Who can forget the sound of the Pack-Man chomping down on the pellets (or cookies) while avoiding the colored ghosts? Hours would feel like minutes playing the title in the good ol’ childhood days. Even to date, the arcade game is legendary in terms of how it influenced our lives and shaped the era of the gaming industry as a whole. To bring back nostalgic memories of the golden times where arcade games were all the rage, Casio has joined forces with Bandai Namco to create a timepiece that’s got a lot of history associated with it. In fact, Casio has revived the memories of their own classic watch from 1978 which was worn by Ellen Ripley and other characters in the movie Alien, back then. Yes, I’m talking about the F-100 digital watch that’s now got a Pak-Man influence in a big way thanks to this collaboration!

It’s like a match made in heaven where two classics fuse to bring a modern-day timepiece to life in a playful design inspired by the world of arcade gaming. I bet you nerds are going to drool all over the Casio A100WEPC Pac-Man edition watch with the golden dial emulating the game cabinet and the Illuminator text (right below the old school time display) resembling the Pac-Man’s pixelated font! The same theme follows down to the classic matte black stainless steel strap which has the Pack-Man’s in-game motifs etched on it. One can’t help but notice the ghosts chasing the Pack-Man and vice-versa when the hero gobbles down the fruits to turn them blue for a feast. Not surprisingly, the case back follows suit with the classic in-game screen etched into the stainless steel covering.

This special edition Casio watch comes with an equally iconic packaging with all the game logos, characters and gameplay perfectly emulated on all sides. Thus far, there is no word on the availability of the Casio A100WEPC Pac-Man edition watch, but the product page does mention the pricing to be 12,100 Japanese Yen (approximately $113). Nonetheless, watch collectors who are big-time Pack-Man fans will want to add this to their collection ultimately when it arrives!

Modern Kisai Sequence Makes a Riddle Out of Time-Telling

Tokyoflash Kisai Sequence 01

The latest Kisai Sequence is yet another original approach at telling-time in a cryptic way. Tokyoflash’s timepiece doesn’t fail to impress people who are into geeky watches.

Unlike previous Kisai watches, which required a bit of time in order to figure out what time it is, Kisai Sequence is cryptic, but also easy to decipher. The alternating pattern of raised cubes is complemented by a custom made curved acrylic lens and some sub-surface digital tube LEDs that create an interesting effect.

Kisai Sequence displays the time in two different ways, but besides that, it has functions that are typical for LED watches. More precisely, it features a date mode, alarm clock, and six user-customizable animations. After all, an LED timepiece tends to be rather bland without such details.

There are four different versions to choose from, depending on the color of the LEDs and of the leather strap. The LEDs can be either red or blue, while the leather strap is available in white or black.

Depending on the way users choose to have time displayed, Kisai Sequence is easy or difficult to read. In one case, time is displayed on two rows and is very easy to ready, while in the other mode, the middle line of the digit is gone. All in all, the second mode isn’t impossible, either, but it may require some getting used to. In other words, the ones who are not aware of how this watch functions may remain perplexed.

Activating the LED display requires you to touch a button. In stand-by, the alternating cubes of the display and of the leather strap leave the impression that you’re wearing a bracelet, and the only detail that might give you away is the differences in color.

For the next 5 hours, Kisai Sequence is available at the promotional price of $109. This can be furthermore discounted by $4 after liking the page on Facebook. Below is a video of the watch in real world scenarios, so you can figure out if you like it or not.

Kisai Sequence charges over USB, fact that makes it really convenient. Fully-charging the included battery takes 3.5 hours, and under normal conditions, this should be more than enough for two months of use.

Tokyoflash Releases a Maze Watch

Never get out of this maze, never get out of this maze. Many people say that trying to find the time on many of Tokyoflash’s watches is like looking at a maze but this new one is actually supposed to look like a maze. The logically named Tokyoflash Kisai Maze watch has two modes- maze and regular digital mode. Press the button and it switches over.
tokyoflash maze Tokyoflash Releases a Maze Watch
The time is actually there within the maze. Once you see how to see the time in the maze, your eyes will adjust so that you can see it every time right away. Stealthy. There’s even an animation mode where a little pixel moves around the maze like an 8bit arcade game. Here’s a video demo:

There’s also a date and alarm modes as well as backlighting with press of a button. You’ve got 8 color choices for the Maze. That’s A-maze-ing (sorry, couldn’t resist that one, I’ll head back to my cavern of shame and hall of dismay).

Want a watch that prevents passers-by from checking the time on your dime? Buy a Tokyoflash. The company's latest timepiece is the Kisai Maze, which hides the info in the negative space of a maze that's only readable with some practice. Available in stainless steel or IP Black, there's an EL backlight to let you annoy the elderly at night and you can watch it being demonstrated after the break. If you snap one up in the next 48 hours, it'll cost $99 (€77, £61), but hurry, because after Thursday morning the price leaps to $139 (€108, £86) -- so now's the time to learn how to be ruthlessly punctual.
