R2-A6 Garlic Bacon Dip: Delicious Droid

The next time you have a party, bring out the bacon dip in the form of an R2 unit. You might call this one a gastromech droid. This creamy hors d’oeuvre is made with garlic, bacon and avocado, and looks delicious. It is the creation of Jenn Fujikawa.

In case you aren’t familiar with R2-A6, he is the astromech that was part of the Bravo Squadron in the Battle of Naboo. I’m a pretty big nerd, and I didn’t know that, so I learned something today… two things, in fact: this droid was in the battle of Naboo, and I want some dip.

Make this R2-A6 Garlic Bacon Dip during your next Star Wars party. You can find the recipe and directions at StarWars.com.

Now You Can Leave Tips Using Your Credit Card with DipJar

While most sit-down restaurants offer a way to add on a tip when you sign the credit card slip, It’s a bit of a hassle to have to fish for some loose change or bills in your wallet after paying for a cup of coffee or snacks using your credit card. But if DipJar gets traction, then you might soon be able to leave tips simply by ‘dipping’ your card into the jar.

DipjarDipJar is an electronic jar of sorts that has been programmed to charge you $1 every time you dip your card into it. So if you want to leave a $5 tip, you’re going have to swipe your card five times, so that might sound taxing. But really, how tiring is it to have to dip your card five times into the slot? I’d imagine not very much – though it might wear out the stripe on your card faster.

The DipJar is currently being tested for use in coffee shops, restaurants, cafes, and every other establishment out there that accepts tips. You can contact the crew behind it if you want to get a DipJar for your own establishment. All you have to do is tell them a bit about your store and location and sign up on their site. If they like you, they’ll send you a DipJar so you can start collecting tips electronically.

Dipping Cover: A Simple Solution to an Age-Old Problem

Presenting a solution to the age-old problem of not having a cup to put dips in when you’re at your local fast food joint: the Dipping Cover.

Dipping CoverDesigned by Bae Su-kyoo and Noh Haeun, the Dipping Cover is basically a plastic cover for drinks that’s been redesigned to have a large indent on the lid, which is where your condiment of choice is supposed to go.

Simply squeeze some ketchup or mayo (or a little bit of both) onto the cover, dip your fries or chips into the mix, and enjoy. Just be sure not to drip any into the straw, or else you might end up with a nasty surprise the next time you sip your soda.

The Dipping Cover is simple yet so ingenious that I’m surprised somebody hasn’t already started manufacturing these lids.
