Nintendo E3 2014: Standing Strong With A Great Showing

Nintendo E3 2014 image

Find out what Nintendo had in store for this year’s E3 2014.

If there’s one thing to appluade Nintendo for this year, it’s sticking to something and making it work. Last year’s E3 2013-timed Nintendo Direct felt ill equipped to face the loud, “event of the forever” banging of the drums from their competitors, both of which had the excitement of new consoles as the anchors to their media showings.

Never the ones to panic and change direction on a dime, Nintendo kept to their unique, Nintendo Direct-styled “digital event” format this year. Albeit much better honed this time around, and majorly focused on the one thing that still keeps the company a widely important figure among the industry and to their fans – their games.

Speaking of which, here’s the rundown of what was shown during Tuesday’s flood of Nintendo E3 news:

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS

Leading off Nintendo’s day was the cornerstone of their fall line up, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. The brawler now sees the likes of Kid Icarus’s godly advisor, Palutena, and Namco’s famous pellet-munching mascot, Pac-Man, making their first ever Super Smash Bros. debuts, in a roster that’s already bursting at the seams with big-name characters.

Nintendo has yet to give a release date for either versions of Super Smash Bros., but it is expected to launch on 3DS first, possibly early fall, and then on Wii U around the holiday season.

Amiibo

After giving the heads up months before that they were entering the interactive toy arena, Nintendo finally revealed Amiibo, the company’s own line collectable figurines centered around their own brands – Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, etc. – that can communicate with certain games, the first of which will be Super Smash Bros.

Support for Amiibo will be worked into future Nintendo titles, and also some previously release stuff like Mario Kart 8.

Yoshi’s Wooly World

Once conceptually titled as Yarn Yoshi, Yoshi’s Wooly World is a future 2015 Wii U title from Japanese studio Good-Feel, known of course for a similar fabric-based take on a long-running Nintendo staple, i.e. Kirby’s Epic Yarn. Who I’m guessing have now appointed themselves as the company that makes really cute-n-cuddly games?

If so, they sit on top alone as the king of adorable mountain with Epic Yarn, and now Wooly World, which has bunch of couch co-op play elements planned for it’s far-off release.

Zelda Wii U

How do you bring a collective Nintendo fanbase to its knees? By showing the next game in The Legend of Zelda series, of course. And Nintendo did just that on Tuesday, with long-time Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma detailing his plans for the next game. Mr. Aonuma described that the next Zelda game – being developed on the Wii U – should be much larger in scope due to better hardware resources, basically an open-world where players will be able to climb the same mountains they see off in the distance.

At the end of his short presentation, a snippet of gameplay was shown featuring a horse-riding Link about to do battle with a nasty-looking monster. Savor this piece of footage while you can, because we likely won’t be seeing more of the game until next year.

Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

Coming this fall for the Nintendo 3DS are remakes of Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire, which both debuted on the Game Boy Advance in 2003. In 2014, they’ll both be using Pokémon X & Y’s engine for their foundation, giving the Hoenn region a lovely 3D facelift.

Bayonetta 2

In October, the much anticipated sequel to one of Platinum Games most beloved action games, Bayonetta 2, finally sees its release on the Wii U. It’s been a long wait for the game, but to make up for it, Platinum is also offering the first Bayonetta with every physical copy of the game. Platinum promises that this version will be the definitive one, complete with some cute Nintendo-themed touches like a wearable Samus suit for Bayonetta.

Hyrule Warriors

September 30 sees the peculiar release of Hyrule Warriors, a co-production between Nintendo and Koei-Tecmo, makers of the hack-n-slash Dynasty Warriors series. Taking the former’s repetitious “defeat massive hoards of enemies in a single arena” play-style, the Wii U title allows players to  control Link, Princess Zelda, Impa, and more, to fight against the forces of darkness. Wave, after wave, after wave of them.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

Kirby is Nintendo’s gaming chameleon, who can easily transition to-and-fro from one type of game to the next. And one such instance was for one of the best games on the Nintendo DS, Kirby’s Canvas Curse, which used a stylus to control the pink cutie through levels and fend off enemies.

Nintendo is returning to that same idea with Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, which also focuses on using the touchscreen of the Wii U GamePad to manipulate Kirby in a variety of ways. With an adorable clay-like graphics that you might find in a little kid’s school project, it’s shame the game won’t be ready until 2015.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

Tons more footage of Monolith Soft’s action role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles X that is still being planned for a 2015 release on the Wii U. In this latest trailer: large worlds to explore, awesome-looking mechs, and more awesome-looking mechs. Oh, and a story premise that looks as Anime (in a good way) as they come.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

The brilliance of Nintendo is them being able to take a single portion from one game – and from a great game no less – and turn it into fuller experience by itself. That’s exactly the case with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker for the Wii U, where the star-hunting puzzles in Super Mario 3D World are being splintered off in their own cool thing.

Nintendo says that Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker should be out soon.

Mario Maker

Taking the cue from the level-editing homebrew scene, Mario Maker lets players build their own Super Mario Bros. levels, along with choice of either classic 8-bit/modern Super Mario Bros. graphics. Using the Wii U GamePad, creative-types can arrange platforms, pipes, and enemies to design the wildest of stages to delight (or torture) their friends.

Splatoon

Squid-girls shooting paint splatters sounds like an idea only Nintendo could come up with. It’s a wacky premise for a team-based multiplayer shooter, for sure, but as they tend to do, Nintendo seems to find ways to put a new spin on a conventional genre. Splatoon is targeting a Wii U release for sometime in 2015.

Starfox Wii U

Nintendo only talked briefly about their plans for the next Starfox game, simply alluding that it will take great advantage of the Wii U’s GamePad.

Nintendo eShop – E3 2014 Highlights

It’s time to see what new games will be coming to the eShop later this year. The video below features the likes of Shovel Knight, Moon Chronicles (ep. 2), and more.

Fantasy Life

A new role-playing game from, Level-5, makers of Ni no Kuni and Professor Layton series.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong Wii U

The puzzle series where you control a miniature toy army of Marios to defeat Donkey Kong is making the leap from the 3DS to the Wii U.

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Two of the best crime solvers the 3DS has ever seen are joining forces in Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. This will be the first time North America 3DS owners will be able to play this time-spanning caper that will surely test wits with its clever puzzles and necessary deduction skills.

Pokémon Art Academy

Nintendo is adding some Pokémon love into the the 3DS drawing series. The app teaches users to draw the likes of Pikachu and pals in a simple fashion; you can even take pictures using the 3DS’s camera and turn them into masterpieces.

Art Academy Wii U

The popular drawing series on the 3DS is coming to the Wii U with Miiverse integration so that skillful artists can share their works.

Mario Party 10

The tenth installment of the Nintendo-fied board-game series is giving the menace of The Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser, a larger role (as if he weren’t large enough, am I right?). Check out this latest trailer for the upcoming Wii U title to see what hijinks are in store for you and your friends.

Code Name: STEAM

Separated from all the news that came on Tuesday, Nintendo planned a press-only event on Wednesday to announce a new 3DS game, Code Name: STEAM. It’s being made by studio Intelligent Systems – creators of the Fire Emblem and Advance Wars series – and is a 3D strategy-role-playing game that lifts its steampunk-looking graphical style from the Silver Age era of comics.

Nintendo says that Code Name: Steam will launch sometime next year.

Steamboy Puts Everything That’s Good About Steam in Your Pocket

Steamboy

Steamboxes will be some mean gaming machines when they’ll hit the shelves, but you know what could be even better? Most of your Steam library in your pocket. Steamboy promises to bring all that and more.

Steamboy was unveiled at E3, on the last day of the trade show, and despite expectations, it wasn’t developed by Valve. Instead, this handheld gaming console was brought to life by the Steamboy Machine group. Some think that this is one of the first manufacturers of the highly-anticipated Steam Machines. Supposing that this is indeed a project that’s endorsed by Valve, the fact that the game developer opened SteamOS to manufacturers might encourage the latter to create all sorts of Steam machines, Steamboy being among the first ones.

Despite not being developed by Valve, Steamboy borrowed a lot from the Steam Controller’s design. According to the teaser images and the promo video, this portable gaming console features haptic feedback-based touchpads that resemble quite a lot the ones that the Steam Controller is equipped with.

The specs of this device are by no means spectacular, but they’re decent enough for playing most modern games. More precisely, Steamboy packs a quad-core CPU that is paired to 4GB of RAM. The built-in memory card only has 32GB, so there might not be enough room for many games. The resolution of the 5-inch 16:9 touchscreen hasn’t been disclosed, yet, but since this is as large as the one of Nvidia’s Shield, gamers shouldn’t have any problems.

The similarities between the Steamboy and Nvidia Shield don’t stop at the display, though. Much like the graphics card manufacturer’s handheld console, the Steamboy will be able to stream games over Wi-Fi. On top of that, it might be able to support PC games natively, even though that hasn’t been confirmed, yet.

If and when this device will be launched, the Steamboy Machine team will open the doors for a lawsuit, as the Reliable Corporation’s floor cleaning products bear the same name.

And here is the promo video for the Steamboy. I wish they had used a less Inception-esque soundtrack.

Let me know in the comments section below what do you think about the Steamboy. Are you excited about the prospect of its launch? Would you buy such a device?

Sony E3 2014: A Great Showing Of Diverse Games

Sony E3 2014 Yoshida image

Sony stepped up to the plate on Monday night to present what it had in store for its PlayStation platforms in 2014 and beyond. And it was a lot.

The first day of E3 2014 has come to a close with Sony’s E3 press conference. And from start to end, minus a few diversions here and there talking about “services” and “television content”, Sony Computer Entertainment brought out a sharp, laser-focused array of video games. Lots of them. All from within Sony and from third-parties big and small.

That’s business as usual around E3 time, of course. But more so in regards to Sony’s “for the gamers” mantra they so boldly claim. With that said, let’s get right down into what was shown during their E3 show. E3 HYPE TRAIN SET COURSE!

Destiny

From the start was Bungie’s Destiny, the sci-fi shooter from the former Halo developers that looks in fine form judging by its latest trailer. It shows off the game’s “Humans terraforming Mars” lore and in-game action. Sony also announced that the Destiny beta will first hit the PlayStation 4 on July 17, with a “first look” alpha coming to console this Thursday, June 12 that fans can get into through Greatnessawaits.com/Destiny.

Sony also announced a Destiny PlayStation 4 bundle that will go on sale September 9, which comes packed with a white PS4 console – that looks quite pretty (and also like a giant white chocolate Kitkat) – and a copy of Bungie shooter.

The Order: 1886

Despite the bad news of it being delayed to early 2015, Sony still moved forward with studio Ready at Dawn’s first crack at their own PlayStation 4 release by showing a new trailer for The Order: 1886. The cover-shooter blends a lot of fictional items – survival-horror and steam-punk Victorian-era England in particular – that sets itself up nicely for its upcoming release next year.

Entwined

Next, Sony surprised us with a marvelous-looking game for the PS4 where you control an abstract flying dragon on a tale about love. The even more surpassing thing though, was the news that this small-team made title would be available today, June 9, for $10. And true to their word, the game can be bought buy right now through the PlayStation Store.

Check out its trailer below and see if it warrants a purchase.

InFamous: First Light

Hot on the heels of its March release, Sucker Punch is pushing out more content for inFamous: Second Son with a DLC expansion called inFamous: First Light. No worries if you haven’t got around to playing Second Son (but do so anyway, because its good and all), First Light is a standalone title that you can buy separately on the PS4 soon.

LittleBigPlanet 3

Sackboy is back with new cute friends and new fun levels to romp through in this latest installment for the PlayStation 4, coming in December. The game seems to be designed with friendly couch co-op in mind, as each new Sackboy pal comes with their own unique platforming talents.

Better yet, LittleBigPlanet 3 invites players to not only discover the user-generated levels in this upcoming title, but also in LBP and LBP2 via backwards compatibility.

Bloodborne

I’m quite certain you will die a whole flippin’ lot if there’s anything to by the trailer for the upcoming From Software title, which is joint project between Sony’s Japan Studio and the makers of the Dark Soul series. Bloodborne finely summons the developer’s great sense of making dark, brooding themes and should be something to behold (and feared difficulty wise) when it launches exclusively for the PS4 in 2015.

Far Cry 4

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 4 had a big spot at Sony’s presser with a new trailer that showed an exploding sample of vehicles, weapons, and rampaging elephants(?) within the game. There was also talk of an interesting PlayStation 4-only feature that allows folks who own the PS4 game to invite their friends to join them Far Cry 4 co-op missions even if that person doesn’t own it.

Dead Island 2

You want more zombies? Well, deal with it because you’re getting them anyway via Deep Silver’s follow-up to their first zombie-smashing title in Dead Island 2. Thankfully, Deep Silver doesn’t try to take the genre seriously, and their trailer for it at Sony’s E3 presser represents that in laughing style. There’s also an exclusive 30-day online beta for the game in the works, too.

Magika 2

The sequel to the multiplayer dungeon-crawling role-playing game from Paradox Interactive is coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4 sometime this fall.

Grim Fandango

A remake/remaster of the classic adventure game from Double Fine is in the works for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. No release date yet.

Let It Die

Suda 51 (No More Heroes, killer7, Lollipop Chainsaw) is known for his crazy action titles, and his upcoming latest – developed alongside GunHo Online Entertainment -  is no different. Let It Die is set for a PlayStation 4 release sometime in the near future.

Indie Spotlight

Ahh… my favorite part of the show, especially from Sony, who has been the champion of Indie games for quite some time. Tonight they revealed a cool line-up of appealing titles such as Broforce, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, Not A Hero, Titan Souls, and The Talos Principle.

Abzu

The creators of the soulful Journey on the PlayStation 3 are back with a new game for the PS4. And like before, the crew has once again recreated an amazing-looking visual and audio experience dealing with the wonders of the deep blue. Absolutely breathtaking.

No Man’s Sky

Hello Games possibly stole the show this evening with their first full trailer for No Man’s Sky. My mouth dropped when I saw this future PS4 title in motion, seeing the game’s impressive, procedurally generated, massive sci-fi universe span out seamlessly from land to space (without immersion-breaking load times to boot), and I bet you probably will too.

Project Morpheus

Sony’s virtual reality headset will have a small showing at E3, but it will be most tech demos for expo goers. Reportedly, all gaming-focused projects are still in development. Although, one bit of relevant info is that the head-mounted display will work with the PlayStation camera peripheral on the PS4.

Free-to-Play Games

More free-to-play games are on their way to PlayStation 4, with the likes of Planetside 2, Loadout, and tons more releasing for the console later this year.

PlayStation Now

Sony’s game-streaming service will launch on the PlayStation 4 starting July 31 as an open public beta. Afterwards at a later date, users on both the PlayStation 3 and PSVita will be able to then access and stream over 100 games from Sony and its third-party partners. There’s also plans for the service to launch on select Sony TV sets.

PlayStation TV

Announced last year at the Tokyo Game Show, the mini-console that allows remote play of PlayStation 4/PS3/PS Vita games on any TV its connected to will final make landfall in North America for $99. Sony will also sell a bundled version that comes with a Dual Shock 3 controller, an 8 GB memory card, and a voucher for The Lego Movie for for $139.

Mortal Kombat X

The gameplay reveal for the next Mortal Kombat game from NetherRealms studios also showed up at Sony’s E3 presser – and yeah, it the typical blood-flying, bone-crushing fisticuffs the series has been know for. This time, it’s for next gen.

Powers

Sony is producing a live-action television series based upon the Brian Michael Bendis comic book Powers, which releases on all PlayStation devices around December. For PlayStation Plus subscribers, the exclusive series will be free to watch for all who are members.

Ratchet & Clank: The Movie

Insomniac Game’s famed, space-adventuring duo is heading to the big screen with a full-length animated feature coming out in 2015. Alongside it, a reboot/reimagining of the first PlayStation 2 game in the 3D-platforming series is being developed. No clue on how that looks, but we do get to see an awesome trailer of the movie.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Here’s a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the tactical stealth game in the long-running popular series that is coming for both the PS4 and PS3 in 2015. Continuing from Ground Zeroes, the game continues to unfold the saga of Solid Snake’s legendary soldier papa, Big Boss. The trailer is all kinds of emo, but the kind I love dearly.

Grand Theft Auto V

Rockstar Games is bring its hit open-world crime game Grand Theft Auto V to the PlayStation 4, which also lets PS3 owners transfer their current GTA Online save file over to the PS4.

The Last of Us Remastered

The enhanced PlayStation 4 port of 2013′s best game (of the forever) on the PlayStation 3 finally has set-in-stone release date for next month – July 29th. The title not only comes with The Last of Us, but also its fantastic expansion DLC, Left Behind.

Batman: Arkham Knight

Bats, as I like to call him, is making his way to the PlayStation 4 as well, but sadly it won’t be until 2015 at the latest (that’s pretty much the theme of this year’s E3 with almost every game, everything is 2015). Here’s a nice trailer of the game to at least to keep us busy with for the time being.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Closing out Sony’s E3 press conference was none other than Naught Dog studios and, of course, Uncharted 4. We get to see what feisty adventurer Nathan Drake is up to this time in this very brief story-set-up trailer, which was captured footage from a PlayStation 4. It looks fantastic. It’s also not out until 2015. *Sigh* Oh well.

Bummer about that release date, but at least it’s something quite cool to look forward to – much like the full line-up of games Sony revealed tonight at their E3 2014 presentation. Take a bow Sony, you did good.

Straight From E3 2014: PS Vita TV to hit US stores in the fall

ps_vita_tv

It’s official: Sony’s PS Vita TV is not a Japan exclusive any more, and from this fall onwards America will be able to enjoy the latest Sony console.

These news just in, straight from Sony’s E3 2014 conference. The PS Vita is not a Japan exclusive any longer, as Sony confirmed that the console will be released from the American public. The PS Vita TV is meant to take the PS Vita experience to TV screens everywhere, but at the same time allow streaming from a PS4 to a second TV without having to buy a second console. That’s not all, as the PS Vita TV will be able to play most PSN games, PSOne classics, and everything playable on the PSP & Vita bare a few exceptions (probably the games using touch screen controls or gyroscopes, we imagine, so no Tearaway or Gravity Rush).

The price of the PS Vita TV will be of $99 USD, while a special bundle including a Dualshock 3 and an online code for the LEGO The Movie game will retail at $139 USD, which is fantastic value. We await further clarification when it comes to other regions such as Europe, or Latin America.

Xbox One Exclusives Teased at E3 2014

Before today’s press conference, Microsoft Xbox chief Phil Spencer promised “we are dedicating our entire briefing to games” and unlike last year’s attempt to win our living rooms as an entertainment hub, all but one minute of today’s 90 minute press conference was dedicated to gaming.

xbox one crackdown 620x472magnify

There were dozens of games shown in trailer, teaser and live demo form, but the ones I’m most interested in are the Xbox One exclusives. At the end of the day, the PS4 is a bit more powerful piece of hardware, so I have a tendency to go with that console for cross-platform games.

Among the exclusives shown were the much anticipated Halo 5: Guardians, Sunset Overdrive, Fable Legends, Forza Horizon 2, and Project Spark, But there were also a few surprises, including the return of Crackdown and Phantom Dust, a complete remaster of all previous Halo games, called and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and a totally new IP called Scalebound, from Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Bayonetta.

So without further ado, here are the trailers for the top Xbox exclusive titles show today:

Halo: The Master Chief Collection:

Scalebound:

Crackdown:

Halo 5: Guardians:

Sunset Overdrive:

Forza Horizon 2:

Project Spark:

Fable: Legends

Phantom Dust:

I, for one am totally stoked for the return of Crackdown and Phantom Dust, though we’re going to have to wait until 2015 to get our hands on those titles. On the other hand, I’m going to be playing the hell out of Sunset Overdrive this Fall.

Xbox E3 2014: Microsoft hits it out of the ballpark

Xbox E3 2014

Microsoft’s E3 2014 event has just ended, and the news on the Xbox side of things are all fantastic! Scroll down to learn what happened.

What an exciting time to be a gamer. After the lackluster event Microsoft had at E3 2013, they had an uphill battle to remind gamers why it is that Xbox matters at all. Since the beginning of their 2014 press conference, they made it loud and clear: Xbox as a brand, and Xbox One as a console is all about games, and they had 90 minutes of uninterrupted games, creators and studios to show for it. TV wasn’t mentioned once, letting the games take the spotlight they should never have missed, and Microsoft didn’t just deliver the same old FPS games with exclusive, timed DLC, but a bunch of exclusives that make a serious case for the Xbox One to be a gamer’s console of choice.

What they had to show went as follows:

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

The latest Call of Duty looked fantastic, and seemed to have more of a focus on atmosphere and ambiance instead of being the same shooter of every year. This gives us some hope that they might be up to something cool, although we don’t doubt for a second the frantic multiplayer shooting will be there just the way we remember it.

Forza 5:

Microsoft’s driving simulator looks sharper than ever. The creators thanked the fans for their continued success, and spoke of the great things to come.

Evolve:

Evolve is a game by the creators of Left 4 Dead, and it shows: the game is a co-op shooter where 4 players with different classes traverse a stage looking for a monster, controlled by a 5th player. The action looks simply frantic, and the monster reminds us of Cthulhu.

Assassin’s Creed Unity:

The new Assassin’s Creed game looks like will finally address the issue of allowing players to co-operate when it comes to carrying out the missions. The world (well, Paris) looks huge and populated, and as long as they fix the combat to adapt for the many potential players, this looks like a serious entry for the best title in the series.

Dragon Age Inquisition:

The latest Dragon Age really does look like a return to shape for the franchise, with an incredibly fluid an attractive combat. Time will tell if our prediction holds or not.

Sunset Overdrive:

Microsoft’s answer to Sony’s Infamous comes from a former Sony studio. It was created by Insomniac Games, the team behind Ratchet & Clank, and promises to have a lot of action but being quirky and funny instead of serious.

Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha

Are you having trouble pronouncing that? We do too. This is a DLC for Dead Rising 3, which tributes many of the other Capcom franchises, Street Fighter being king among them.

Fable Legends:

The new entry in the Fable series has the blessing and the curse of not having Molyneux behind it. It looks like this entry is a bit on the light side, being a co-op based, relaxed 3rd person hack-n-slash. The cool addition, though, is a “Villain” mode where players take a role analogous to that of the Dungeon Master in classic D&D, and places mobs and traps for the player to fight.

Project Spark:

This is an interesting one: Project Spark lets players create their own mini-games and play with friends. It’s not restricted to one genre, though, and players can try their hand at tabletop games, dungeon crawlers, arcade shooters, and more. Furthermore? It marks the return of Conker, from Conker’s Bad Fur day, and this alone is something to celebrate. The game will be releasing for Xbox One and PC.

Halo 5: Guardians & Halo: Master Chief Collection

It wouldn’t be a Microsoft conference without a million news on the Halo front, but this time they’ve outdone themselves. We saw a Halo 5 teaser which was expected, but also a deep look at the Master Chief Collection. This is a a single disc including Halo 1-4 with their respective multiplayers mode. Halo 2 Anniversary has the ORIGINAL Halo 2 multiplayer, in particular, the one everyone loved, with the same engine as 10 years ago. Players will be able to switch between modern and classic graphics with the touch of a button. Pretty exciting, really, but furthermore, the collection includes Halo: Nightfall, the live action series coming out that connects Halo 4 & 5, and a Halo 5 Guardians Beta.

Inside:

This game looked fantastic. It seems like we’re looking at the next Limbo/Portal, a post-apocalyptic mechanical future, and gameplay based on puzzle solving and stealth. Count us in.

Showing off indie games published to Xbox 1

They showed a bunch of indies, as if in order to contest Sony’s dominance on that field. Microsoft did great, although the footage was really short, they really did showcase a lot of variety.

Rise of the Tomb Raider:

We only saw a short teaser without gameplay, but it seems like this game will gap the transition between the Lara we saw in the last Tomb Raider, and the classic Tomb Raider games. We’re glad to see they’re still focusing on her human side.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

We got to see some gameplay of the latest game in the Witcher series, and it frankly looks fantastic. It looks like it will build on the strengths of the previous 2 games, and give players the freedom to hunt, track, and take on quests with incredible graphics and enhanced gameplay. This was our favorite game from the event.

The Division:

Tom Clancy’s games are back! In the trailer for The Divison we saw a 3D map of the city which we assume encompasses the playable area. Apparently, this tactical shooter has massive, sprawling buildings that can be traversed as well as environments that respond to being shot at. Could this game really deliver, or are we seeing the next Watch_Dogs?

Scalebound:

The concept of Scalebound seems to be small guy fighting big monsters in a very stylish way. Let’s not forget, this exclusive is a game by Platinum Games, the people behind Bayonetta.

Crackdown: (No really, just Crackdown)

Crackdown is back! We seem to have seen a pre-rendered sequence, hinting at the possibility of co-op. Despite the lack of actual footage, the return of the franchise alone should delight everyone.

Mirror’s Edge 2 Teased Ahead of EA E3 Conference

Gamers who have been playing for a while might recall when the original Mirror’s Edge hit the market. The game was very different from anything else that was out at the time. Mirror’s Edge saw a badass woman named Faith freerunning around a city as bad guys tried to kill her.

me 960 620x349magnify

As you jumped from balcony to balcony and ran, people shot at you from helicopters and other places. It was a very cool game, which combined old school platforming with a first-person view. As many fans had hoped Mirror’s Edge 2 is in development and is tipped to be coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.

So far, we have few details on the game. A single piece of concept art has turned up on Facebook. The only tag with the art reads #E32014. We know the game will be part of the EA conference at E3 this afternoon and details on the game should be offered there. I hope that the second game is as original and cool as the first.
