A Live/Work Station that Knows No Bounds

The SCARAB makes remote living and working feasible from virtually anywhere. Highly adaptable to a number of environments and working scenarios, it can house two occupants for extended periods of time for a variety of missions ranging from reconnaissance to research.

SCARAB is highly adaptable inside and out. It can be configured with a height adjustable leveling base for a variety of terrains or even configured on water with a specialized pontoon floating system for off-shore uses. capable of being configured to the unique requirements of the customer with specifics like kitchen units, shower, lavatory, sleeping quarters, storage and work areas.

A large matrix of battery cells under the interior floor panels and an emergency backup generator allow for sufficient use of electronic equipment and lights. Freshwater holding tanks and an on-board filtration system ensure clean potable drinking water for two week periods. As for interior air, a centralized air-filtration and climate control system ensures that occupants have a clean, temperature controlled climate.

For the affluent angler

hyperlien_yatch_1

Bringing the cool quotient of saddlebags (seen mostly on lowriders and muscle bikes) to the yacht world, the Hyperlien is a luxury mini-boat for the financially-endowed fish-lover, with two dedicated ‘saddle-bags’ on the outside of the yacht for your angling gear. The yacht also boasts of expandable seating on-deck for those family’n’friends fishing sprees.

The saddlebags are quite large and can easily hold gear for a large group. These bags can also be unfastened from the yacht for when you’re not fishing, or if they affect the ability of the boat to swiftly cut through the water.

Designers: Janus Huang, Nissan Kao & Eric Wang.

Rodeo for books

saddle_scanner_1

My design mentor has a brilliant saying. Find the frustration and hack it. You know how annoying it is to scan books. Especially fat ones. The spines tale a lot of stress, not to mention that little gradient you get in all your scans where the page bends inwards and meets the spine. Overall, it isn’t a good experience for you or the book. The SaddleScan changes that.

For starters, it looks like a miniature alien built a tent on your desk. SO intrigue works well for any design’s visual aesthetic. And now for the frustration hack. This novel scanner has a unique design that allows your book to naturally rest on it. Dual scanners on each face of the SaddleScan take clear un-distorted images of both the pages, making your life a little less complicated. And the book’s happy too. It wasn’t forced to perform a split! Imagine that being done to you!

The SaddleScan is a Red Dot Best of the Best award for the year 2015.

Laser Precise Time

Love the Bullion Wall Clock for its innovative use of metal and laser, just to tell the time. Three steel medallions are artfully stacked upon each other and are wall mounted using a magnetic mechanism. The topmost medallion is stationary and houses a circular array of laser pointers to demarcate the hours on the wall surface. The middle and bottom medallions both rotate, and each houses a laser pointer that indicates the minute and hour hands respectively.

A gentle inward tapering on the side faces angle the lasers towards the wall surface. Once mounted the unit can be turned on and off with a gentle press on the face.

Bullion Wall Clock is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner.
