Have you ever looked at one of those front loading washing machines and thought to yourself, “this would make a great aquarium”? Well now you will. And you’re not alone. Rochester Appliance came up with the idea to add some extra visual appeal to their appliance showroom and got right to work.

They gutted the washing machine. Then they cleaned out the drum, waterproofed the tub, making sure to do everything using fish-safe materials. Added in a filter, air pump, accesses, heater, and water treatment products. It’s just that easy. 3 easy steps. Because of the weight of the tank when filled with water, they opted to suspend it via cables to the top of the machine.

Next they added some LED lights and some cool fish and boom! It’s the best thing to come out of Rochester since the garbage plate. Full instructions on how to make your own here.

These fish may look like they’re only one push away from going over the edge to fish freedom but they’re actually safe and secure on the shelf. The Bubble Tank is a fish tank with a twist. It’s made of hand blown glass with a “bubble” that leans over the edge of a shelf or table.

Designed by Psalt Design, each one is slightly unique due to the handblown nature of the glass (and as such you’ll pay the handblown price of over $500 per tank). Each tank measures about 9.5″ across. Instead of a typical fish tank where the fish is the star of the show in a boring regular shaped tank, with the Bubble Tank the tank is the focal point. Sure the fish are there too and you don’t want to hurt their feelings so tell them they’re still the star but really it’s the tank. Shhhh.

You may have seen one of those fish tank making reality shows on TV (there’s at least 2 different ones on now!) but you’ve probably never seen a tank as edgy as this one by Dean Zeus Colman. The UK based artist is known for his graffiti based art and this is just another example- except that it’s a functional aquarium.

Those are some badass urban fish right there. You won’t see this one in your regular pet store. Typography fans are gonna dig this one. I’d like to get one that says “trapped”. (via iihih)

Fish, they’re not just for sushi, apparently you can also keep them as pets. As most people know, fish are huge fans of old school video games. Fact. So one Redditor’s roomate made a geeky home for his fish- a Super Mario Brother’s setup inside the tank.

Most of the fish are gone because they repeatedly bonked their heads on the question mark cube trying to get some coins. As you can see he used Lego pieces and paint to create the castle and more since Lego has yet to issue a legit Mario set (ooooh weeee what’s up with that? i said what’s up with that?).
