Flappy Bird to Relaunch in August With Multiplayer

Flappy Bird

After being pulled from the App Store and Google Play Store by creator Dong Nguyen, Flappy Bird will be returning in August, complete with multiplayer.

You don’t make the world’s most notoriously difficult game without treading on a few toes, at least not in Dong Nguyen’s case, as the Vietnam-based developer brought Flappy Bird to the world’s mobile devices causing players to lash out in frustration at just how hard it is to control the game’s aerially challenged character. It wasn’t just the usual slew of anger either as it spilled out in acerbic runs of racial abuse and verbal bile that saw Nguyen pull the game from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store in an effort to get everyone to leave him alone. Predictably, given how popular Flappy Bird is, it didn’t quite work with plenty of people still chomping at the bit for a chance to play Flappy Bird once more (some people have even gone to the length of renting out phones just to play it) and so as a result, Nguyen is set to bring the game back in August.

His decision to bring Flappy Bird back to our mobile devices once more is unclear, but the game’s creator did explain what we can expect from Flappy Bird v 2.0 when he revealed his plans to news outlet CNBC. Nguyen says that the number one reason why we shouldn’t expect the new version of the game soon is because he’s going to add multiplayer to it. The game already has some subtle multiplayer aspects – if you call complaining about the game or boasting about your score to your friends ‘multiplayer’, that is – so adding a tangible multiplayer mode to Flappy Bird would likely soothe the pain of being absolutely rubbish at it.

Furthermore, while Nguyen’s idea sounds great, there is a question of whether or not Flappy Bird will reach its once-meteoric heights of as many of the mobile success stories we’ve seen (e.g Angry Birds) have been sustained efforts, with the developers in those cases never deciding to pull their star game from virtual store shelves. Too, after Flappy Bird was removed from sale, an actual Flappy Bird MMO (of sorts) was released and while it was God awful (lag was a key feature of said MMO), it may have dimmed the light of Nguyen’s upcoming Flappy Bird rerelease so we’ll keep you posted once we know more.

Flappy Bird Creator is ‘Considering’ Rereleasing the Game

Flappy Bird

After the popular mobile game Flappy Bird was taken off of the App Store and Google Play Marketplace, the game’s creator has now said that he may rerelease it.

Releasing a mobile title is not all fun and games. The majority of mobile titles don’t account for the millions in revenue that the app market as a whole continues to make, with its creators having to work hard to make them a continued success. For those mobile titles that do prove to be a hit, the hard work continues still as support and fan feedback make up a large part of a developer’s continued work on the game. Dong Nguyen, the Vietnam-based creator of Flappy Bird, a simple tap game that is both bright and colourful yet difficult to ‘master’, knows this well, as backlash to the difficulty of the game from fans as well as suggestions that his game may have stolen some art from Nintendo’s Super Mario games led Nguyen to receive a lot of hate. As a result, he took the game off of both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Marketplace, but now, in a new interview, Nguyen has revealed that he may just rerelease Flappy Bird.

Nguyen’s comments about a possible Flappy Bird rerelease were made during an interview with Rolling Stone, with him saying to the magazine that he is “considering it”, but his rereleased version of Flappy Bird would come with a “”warning [to] take a break!” Other than Nguyen’s comments to the magazine, the likelihood of a Flappy Bird rerelease is otherwise unclear as he also has several other games in production.

These games include an ‘untitled cowboy shooter’, ‘a vertical flying game called Kitty Jetpack’ and an “action chess game” called Checkonaught, which is reportedly set to be released this month. However, money may prove a good incentive for Nguyen to rerelease the game once these aforementioned in-development titles have been released as Flappy Bird reportedly earns him tens of thousands of dollars in revenue a day, so we’ll keep you posted once we know more.

How to Download Flappy Bird

Flappy Bird image

No longer on the app store, one of the most popular apps is one of the hardest to find but with our step by step guide we teach you how to download Flappy Bird.

Flappy Bird image

Don’t let the small detail stop you. Flappy Bird may have been taken off of both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t play the game, even if you don’t have it downloaded. Dong Nguyen’s popular bird floating title isn’t gone for good, despite the developer delisting the game on account of getting too popular. However, the game has been posted elsewhere and we’ve got a step by step guide on how to download Flappy Bird.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: Neither Walyou nor the writer of this article can be responsible for any files or software that you download. The guide is merely a suggestion and it is up to you to take the risk!

1. Download the Client

The method that we’re using is called ‘torrenting’, which is effectively peer to peer file transfer. In other words, someone else has the Flappy Bird file and torrenting is the way to get it!

Before you even think about finding a plucky young app hoarder to source Flappy Bird from, you’ll need a torrent client (if Flappy Bird was a house, a client is the front door you need to go through). Personally, I recommend uTorrent, a torrent client that tells you an estimated download time, download speed and lets you manage all of your torrents in one handy list!

2. Find a Torrent

If Flappy Bird is a house and uTorrent is the front door, then the torrent is the key to unlock it. Finding a torrent is the trickiest part of all this, mostly in part that due to copyright laws and the fact that torrents give us free access to paid things (torrenting can also let you download TV shows and movies), many popular torrent sites are blocked depending on which part of the world you live in.

The most torrent popular site is The Pirate Bay.

3. Choose a Torrent

As you can see in the image above, searching for ‘Flappy Bird’ gave me a list of 11 results. Obviously, due to the nature of torrenting and downloading files from the Internet, there is the likelihood of some torrents being a scam (hence the legal disclaimer) but a telling way of weeding out the real from the fake is how many seeders (people who have the file and are uploading it) and leechers (people who don’t have the file and are downloading it) there are. The bigger the numbers of each, the more you can trust the torrent.

Some of the search results are labelled for Android/iOS compatibility so check out the categories (as well as the description and comments for any extra compatibility info you can gather) before downloading.

4. Download the Torrent

Once you’re satisfied with the Flappy Bird torrent that you’ve chosen, click “GET THIS TORRENT” above the description.

If you’ve installed uTorrent, then the torrent should load directly into the client and start downloading and once it’s completed, there will likely be a file of Flappy Bird ready to install, somewhere on your computer!

5. Install Flappy Bird

Now that the torrent is downloaded, all that’s left to do is install it on your Android or iOS device of choice.

It may be slightly more difficult to get the Flappy Bird file onto an iOS device (something that I cannot advise you with), so if you’re planning on torrenting the game for your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, I recommend that you keep this in mind if you’re expecting the install process to be easy.

If you’re using an Android device, however, things are relatively smooth. For the most part, the process can be as easy as connecting your Android device to your computer (via USB cable), finding the Flappy Bird file on your computer and copy and pasting it over to the appropriate folder on your device (pasting it into a folder called ‘Apps’ or ‘Games’ would likely be your best bet).

Once Flappy Bird is all installed and ready to go, all that’s left to do is play! And if you need tips on how to be a good Flappy Bird player, be on the look out for a Flappy Bird tips and tricks guide on Walyou later in the week.

Flappy Bird Shoots To The Top Of Every App Rank

Flappy Bird

There’s a new app in town, and it’s blowing everyone’s mind with its quick success. It’s name is Flappy Bird, and some users have called it the “Dark Souls of casual gaming”.

Flappy Bird

Both Google Play Store and the iOS store have the same app currently topping the charts: the video game Flappy Bird. Its success has taken everyone, even the author, by surprise and is an unprecedented event. What is the app exactly? Well, it’s basically an app with pixel art reminiscent of Super Mario Bros on its SNES incarnations, but with gameplay akin to that of Jetpack Joyride, except that with an extremely, unprecedented level of difficulty. The game was released for iOS in May of 2013, and is now more popular than ever. Creator Dong Nguyen is as surprised as we all are by the level of success and said “Press people are overrating the success of my games. It is something I never [wanted],” Well, just enjoy it Mr. Nguyen!
