This Folding E-Bike from FUELL also boasts an impressive 110-mile range

As a veteran in the motorcycle industry, Buell’s foray into the world of e-bikes with the Fuell brand has already seen impressive offerings, from the urban-friendly Flluid e-bike to the cyberpunk fantasy motorcycle Fllow. Delving further into the electric segment, FUELL’s latest electric bike is a mind-bending body-bending wonder. Designed to cater to both city commuters and outdoor enthusiasts, the Folld-1 e-bike blends cutting-edge technology with a robust design, setting new benchmarks in the folding e-bike segment.

The e-bike’s highlight is the fact that it folds in half, making it much more convenient to carry around and travel with. The Folld-1 relies on a unibody magnesium alloy chassis, which also conceals the bike’s built-in battery. The use of magnesium alloy not only reduces the bike’s overall weight but also maximizes its durability. The folding design of the Folld-1 makes it a practical choice for urban dwellers who may have limited storage space. It can easily be folded and stored in small spaces or transported in a car trunk for outdoor adventures.

At the heart of the Folld-1 lies a powerful Bafang rear hub motor. This motor delivers a nominal output of 750 watts and 85 Nm of torque, allowing the bike to reach a top speed of 20 mph. Contrary to popular belief, these specs aren’t all about raw power; they also ensure a smooth ride across various terrains, from city streets to more challenging off-road paths. Compliant with European e-bike regulations, the Folld-1 also offers a version with a 250-watt motor limited to 25 kilometers per hour.

The battery is a core component of any electric vehicle, and the Folld-1 doesn’t disappoint in this regard. It’s equipped with a 720-watt-hour battery, boasting Samsung cells, which provide an impressive range of up to 70 miles on a single charge in the lowest assist setting. If you’re using full-assist at maximum speed, you can still enjoy a range of about 30 miles. The battery is removable, which adds a layer of convenience for charging.

Other notable features include a Shimano Altus 8-speed gearset, Tektro HD-E 350 hydraulic disc brakes, and a foldable rear rack capable of holding up to 22 pounds of gear. These components not only provide a reliable and safe riding experience but also enhance the bike’s utility​​​​. For those who prefer not to pedal, the Folld-1 comes with a convenient throttle control. This feature allows the rider to cruise effortlessly without pedaling, adding to the overall convenience and ease of use of the bike​.

The Folld-1 is currently priced at $2,495, with an introductory offer reducing it to $1,995. This pricing positions the Folld-1 as an affordable option in the e-bike market, undercutting even its non-folding Flluid e-bikes by a significant margin.

The Buell brand gets a revival with this gorgeous Cyberpunk electric concept

Meet the Buell XBE, a fan-made revival of the popular Harley Davidson subsidiary that shut shop in 2009, but never left our hearts. Combining a little of Buell’s rich automotive legacy with the newly formed FUELL brand started by the same Erik Buell, the XBE is a futuristic racer that looks to the stars but doesn’t forget its roots. It still has the broad, aggressive style of its former brand, albeit with an electric powertrain as opposed to the internal combustion engine you usually find in Buell’s previous motorcycles. Look at the rear wheel and you’ll also see the six-pointed star built into the wheel rim – a signature trait found in all of Buell’s creations.

The XBE is an exquisite-looking beast that feels distinctly different from Buell’s racers, as well as from its spin-off FUELL’s commuter bikes. It has the kind of rough aggression you’d expect in a bike its size, but the chiseled, low-poly design with straight lines gives it an elegant futurism that’s oddly appealing to look at. The front forks are edgy and muscular, and designer Cauchy’s been incredibly judicious with the use of curves, resulting in an e-bike that puts the dynamic in aerodynamic.

Unlike FUELL’s Fllow commuter, the XBE retains its cafe racer aesthetic and does have an arrogance and audacity that the graceful-looking Fllow doesn’t. Sitting on it makes you feel powerful and respected, although I’m not entirely sure how comfortable that cantilever seat would be to sit on. The entire upper surface of the ‘fuel tank’ doubles up as a display on the XBE, becoming a rather unique dashboard that’s large enough to display a whole variety of visual elements. It isn’t quite unclear what those transparent panels on the sides of the bike are, on the left and right of the battery pack, although they do somehow color-match the windshield on this BMW Motorrad concept.

The Fuell Flow brings electric tech to Buell’s legendary cafe racers

If you were ever a fan of Buell’s motorbikes, you probably weren’t to happy to hear them being absorbed by Harley Davidson. Eric Buell (founder of Buell Motorbikes), however, has moved on and founded a new bike company, rather sardonically named Fuell. And this bike right here, is The Fuell Flow.

Designed to be the vanguard of urban mobility, the Fuell Flow is a fully electric motorbike available in both 11kW and 35kW variants. With a comfortable 125 mile range, and a motor that sits on the rear wheel, eliminating the need for a transmission belt or chain, the Fuell Flow makes for a comfortable urban ride. It features a connected dashboard, 13 gallons of storage on-board for bags and whatnot, and is even customizable, allowing you to switch motors, batteries and chargers. And what’s truly the best bit is that it combines the talent and expertise of Eric Buell, the founder of Buell Motorcycles, and Frédéric Vasseur, Formula 1 Alfa Romeo principal engineer. The Flow does a pretty good job of capturing the soul and aesthetic of Buell’s café racers, and giving them a modern touch with liberal use of straight lines along with the combination of black and silver with just a dash of green!
