This seemingly simple arm patch lets you know how much water to drink and when

It isn’t just our planet that’s mostly made up of water. Our bodies, too, have large quantities of water and require a regular intake of fluids to keep them functioning properly. We all know this for a fact, yet few of us take the advice to heart. Those with more active lifestyles are often more conscious of this and hydrate more regularly, but they might not always know the most optimal strategy for the time and amount of water or other fluids to drink. Without sophisticated equipment to monitor your body’s fluid output, you might not know how much to take in. That’s the kind of information that this sensor offers, and it involves nothing more than just slapping a patch on your arm before your run or exercise.

Designer: Nix

The common advice is to drink eight glasses or two liters of water a day, which is fine for most cases and individuals. When you live a more active lifestyle, though, especially if you work out often, when and how you hydrate involves more than that simple metric. Making it a bit more complicated is that different people have different hydration needs and rates of dehydration depending on their activity.

Rather than leaving that important health factor up to guesswork or generic figures, the Nix Hydration Biosensor uses science and technology to actually give you a better picture of your body’s hydration state. It’s almost similar to how our smartwatches constantly keep track of our heart rate, except that it uses a different biomarker and part of your body. This simple device sticks to your skin and tracks your fluid and electrolyte loss through the sweat you produce during activities.

There is already equipment that can measure that data, but these are often bulky machines that can only be used inside labs and involve connecting multiple sensors to your body. This Hydration Biosensor, in contrast, whittles it down to just a hexagon-shaped pod that clips onto a sweat patch that you stick to your arm. Because of the sensor’s lightweight construction and the absence of any wires, the Hydration Biosensor won’t get in the way of any kind of workout or activity you might engage in.

Similar to a smartwatch, the sensor sends its data to a companion device, usually a smartphone, which does the heavy work of analyzing that data to notify you when it’s time to drink up and how much. This might sound like micromanaging, but it’s the kind of efficiency that many athletes live by in order to get the best out of their workout as well as their recovery. At the very least, it will get people more aware of just how important hydration is to our well-being, especially when you start to notice how you get dehydrated more often than not.

Win Back Your Mobility With The Kineon Move+ Light Therapy

We’re all encouraged to keep an active lifestyle to ensure our physical health, but there will always be times when we will feel the strain of activity and exercise on our bodies. It might come from an unfortunate injury, or it could simply be due to natural aging. Not every pain might need medical treatment, but they will definitely need something to alleviate the discomfort and help repair the damage. Thankfully, that doesn’t have to involve expensive services or complicated gadgets, especially with the Move+ medical-grade laser and LED tech from Kineon, formerly known as Reviiv. This wearable device that you can conveniently wrap around your aching knee or any joint for that matter to help your body along its natural healing process.

Wearables like smartwatches and fitness bands have become more common these days, especially because of their health-centric benefits. Most smartwatches these days can monitor heart rate and activities, but some also go as far as measuring blood oxygen levels or even blood pressure and ECG. But while these convenient devices that wrap around our wrists can help diagnose potential health problems, they can’t actually act on any injury or pain other than calling emergency services.

Portable Design – Find fast relief whenever and wherever you feel pain and inflammation.

That’s what sets the Kineon Move+ apart from other wearables because it’s able to reduce pain and kick start the natural healing process to repair damaged tissues. Of course, you don’t have to wear it all the time like a smartwatch, and when you do take it off, you can stow it away conveniently in a portable pouch. Put it on and take it off with ease to soothe aching joints and heal your body.

Dual Light Technology – Deeper penetration and faster results to joints, muscles, and other tissue through our exclusive dual-light technology.

Kineon Move+ uses dual light therapy to pull off this almost magical trick. It uses laser therapy to penetrate deep into tissues at a depth of 5-6mm, bringing relief from osteoarthritis and cartilage damage. LED red light therapy, on the other hand, treats cosmetic and surface-level problems around 2mm deep, making it good for reducing inflammation, improving blood circulation, and stimulating collagen production. Together these two lights coming from three connected modules surround your knee to provide relief and accelerate the healing process.

Sniper Like Accuracy – Design allows for pin-point accuracy on problem areas for fast and effective relief.

Despite the advanced science and technology behind it, the Move+ is dead-simple to use and convenient to carry around. You can wrap all three modules around your knee, leg, or arm, and simply relax while it does its trick. Or you could place the unbuckled Move+ over your shoulder, on your back, or even around your head, basically on any part of your body that’s hurting or needs repairs.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, trying to soothe aching muscles after a strenuous exercise, or even simply trying to promote vibrant and healthy skin, the Kineon Move+ has you covered with its advanced light therapy. And when you’re done, you can simply take out the modules, put the modules inside the wireless charging case, and put the portable case in your bag, ready for the next time you’ll need its healing magic.

MicroMed Pill Dispenser

MicroMed is a concept product design that allows customized doses of medication. It is more of an advanced med dispenser as the doses are based on a user’s characteristics. Data are entered on a companion app to identify and offer the correct dose.

One advantage of the MicroMed is that you won’t need the blister packaging since it is very wasteful. Reduced waste means it is more eco-friendly for a more sustainable future. The MicroMedi also offers a refillable cartridge system, which is an ideal solution, especially for those regularly taking medication.

MicroMed Portable Medicine Dispenser Design

The MicroMed includes a reusable capsule to ensure nothing is thrown away. This way, too, stuff that usually ends up in landfills is lessened. In addition, the medicine dispenser boasts a minimalist aesthetic, so users are not intimidated to use it. Taking meds can already be stressful for some people, but this med container offers an easier and more convenient user experience.

The caps and cartridges are color-coded for easier identification. A user can easily differentiate the medications as needed. You will know if it’s time to refill because of the clear view. The dispenser is small enough for you to put in your bag. It’s perfect for everyday use and traveling because you can just slip it inside your purse or pocket.

The designers worked on this product design to respond to a recent presentation regarding the blister packaging effects. The team was aiming to help in the elimination of unnecessary packaging. Some blister packs are already recyclable, but total elimination can be more helpful.

MicroMed Portable Medicine Dispenser

There is a new goal to reach a circular economy in the design world. There are many principles to consider, so it’s not exactly easy to do. There are many factors to consider, plus the need to do proper research. The people behind the MicroMed did interviews and research to have an informed design process so we know this product is well-designed, innovative, and intelligent.

This air quality monitor tracks 5 factors and recommends changes for health

People are now more self-aware than ever about hygiene. In many ways, the global pandemic has served as a wake-up call for all us to make necessary changes in our lifestyle for better health. From simple habits to gadgets like air purifiers, these changes should stick in our daily routines even after the situation calms down. The first step to better health always starts at home and we usually don’t think about things like the air quality surrounding us unless there is a crisis. Devices like the Awair air quality tracker are here to make our homes a little more pure and safe.

We may not know this but, indoor air can be 5x more polluted than outside as we are constantly exposed to factors like paint, furniture, carpet, air fresheners, toys, and more. The air quality can have a major influence on allergies, asthma, focus, sleep quality, skin health, and overall well-being apart from just physical health. The Awair 2nd-edition air quality monitor can track it all for you and even give you personalized recommendations to improve the air in your space. The smart device records the 5 most important factors that affect your health like fine dust, chemicals, CO2, humidity, and temperature to give you a report straight on your phone with changes we can make to up the quality.

The Awair Score is a color-coded scale that lets you know the quality of your air and what changes you must make to improve it. The scale is from 0 to 100 with 0 being poor air quality and 100 being very healthy. It is compatible with smart home devices like Ecobee, Google Home and Alexa so it seamlessly integrates itself in your ecosystem. You can control it via voice commands or an app on your phone when you aren’t home. Even the physical monitor is designed to match all interior styles with its wood frame and subtle silver interface. If you wouldn’t drink dirty water then why breathe dirty air?

A medical device that gives you doctor-free monitoring from top to toe!

I am guilty of going to the doctor for the smallest concern because there is no way for me to analyze what requires immediate attention. I am sure that I am not the only one who Googles symptoms and then descends into panic. It would be so much easier if there was a device like Kala, conceptual health monitoring smart kit that provides a complete non-invasive medical check-up.

A quick look at how much time, money and stress this could save us – 1/5th of doctor’s consultation time is spent on non-medical issues and there are more than 13.5 million GP appointments that do not require medical attention, most of these can be attributed to the human nature of worrying and because there is no other way of ruling out how we feel. Devices like Kala that use existing technology in innovative ways can pave the way to make monitoring devices digital, smaller, non-invasive and most importantly, accessible.

Over 60% of the world’s deaths are caused by heart disease, stroke, cancer, respiratory disease, and diabetes. The first step in diagnosing these ailments requires simple tools like a stethoscope, thermometer, blood pressure pump, and self-glucose monitor – Kala includes all of these and more. It tests lung functions, temperature, blood glucose, blood oxygen, stethoscope, electrocardiogram (ECG), blood pressure which can reduce panic doctor visits and save time on follow-ups too.

Kala uses artificial intelligence to read and translate data from the device into understandable diagnostics for the user. The smart device is trained to recognize normal and abnormal values – so it cannot diagnose diseases but it can warn you when something does not seem right about your vital statistics. It has been designed keeping in mind that apart from regular check-ups at home it also serves for emergency check-ups, hence the results are in a simple green or amber color for the user to quickly grasp what’s happening and take action if needed. It is crucial in eliminating anxiety while waiting on an appointment date and lets you monitor your health at home which can save many of us from the spiral of overthinking a small allergy or heartburn. It is also a great way to find out if it is a concerning situation and then taking the right call which can also end up saving time in many cases.

One of the coolest features is that it is independent of smartphones and the internet which is a major advantage thanks to the built-in AI but also has the sync-to-your-phone feature to look back at results. If you don’t have a smartphone that is fine too, it includes a built-in thermal printer so you don’t have to rely on any other external factors to do a well-rounded test and keep the results – this is especially helpful in lesser developed regions where users may not have smartphones to sync and track their health data. The parts are made from stainless steel which retains a clean and sterile surface. The rest of the box uses recycled plastic. One of these devices can help an entire community where medical facilities might be scarce, it makes good health accessible to everyone.

Kala is the future of having an efficient and accessible health management system for individuals, communities, and reduce the load on medical facilities.
