LEGO Releasing 4,049-Piece Iron Man Hulkbuster Build Set

Priced to bust wallets at $550, the LEGO Avengers Hulkbuster set is the toy giant’s largest Marvel set to date, with an impressive 4,049 pieces. For reference, that’s $200 more but only 277 pieces more than the LEGO Daily Bugle set. Those extra 277 pieces must really be expensive ones.

The set will be released on November 9th and is also the largest LEGO mech set, standing over 20.5″ tall with an optional Iron Man figure that goes INSIDE the mecha. It features light-up arc reactors in both hands and chest, as well as several other new LEGO elements like special glow-in-the-dark and gold bricks. The whole upper body is articulated for posing and includes a Tony Stark in Mark 43 suit minifig. It is currently listed in the coveted spot #3 on my Christmas list.

With the popularity of both LEGO and The Avengers, I’m sure the set will be a hit. Although how many people will be willing to dig $550 out of their wallets to buy one remains to be seen. Of course, there are probably a lot of LEGO and Avengers fans out there that are richer than I am. Most of them, actually.

Towering 4,049-piece Hulkbuster LEGO set for Iron Man fans’ delight

Hulkbuster suit is Iron Man’s most ambitious build and now it is coming to the LEGO realms to the delight of fans. Even better, this will be the largest build of the 2022 LEGO collection and the best-ever Iron Man Hulkbuster coming in a colossal 4,049-piece set. However, it is also the most expensive Marvel set ever released at $550 beating the 3,772-piece LEGO Daily Bugle set.

Iron Man’s iconic armor is purely inspired by the suit appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and boy do we love it. Attention to detail in this MCU LEGO set is highly intricate with things like posable arms for orienting the big mecha in various configurations and an accessible cockpit to place the Iron Man Figure which is not a part of this purchase though. Compared to the earlier build, this 20.5-inch tall and 9.5-inches long masterpiece shadows the Iron Man buildable figurine by a long way.

Designer: LEGO Group

The towering collectible has movie-accurate features including the cockpit inside the red and gold-plated armor, or the information plate showing the techie data. For those who always trip over the little details, there’s the Tony Stark mini figure in the Iron Man suit which adds a unique touch to the LEGO build when stacked up from scratch. To keep the realism going, there are authentic details such as the 3 light-up arc reactor adorning the chest and also present on the hands.

Putting this LEGO set up brick by brick will be a satisfying experience for collectors and Iron Man fans alike. The fact that this build will get fans up close and personal with the undaunting force is in itself an experience. For LEGO VIP members the Hulkbuster LEGO set will arrive on November 4 while others can lay their hands on this cool MCU buildable from November 9.

Sculpted BB-8/Hulkbuster Mashup Figure: The Sithbuster

Let’s face it, with Disney owning both properties now, Star Wars and Marvel are practically begging for a crossover. And to give us an idea of what that probably wouldn’t look like, artist Adam of the YouTube channel North of the Border sculpted this 1:12 scale BB-8/Hulkbuster armor mashup. Sith and Hulk alike, beware!

I particularly like the BB-8 inspired paint job. The amount of fine detail Adam was able to achieve is most impressive, and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he could thread a needle on his first try. For reference, I struggle to thread a needle for my grandma at all until she eventually tells me not to bother – she’ll just get one of her favorite grandchildren to do it for her.

Now that I’ve planted the seed of a Star Wars/Marvel crossover in my own mind, it won’t stop growing. Will I start writing my own fan fiction?! No, but only because I’m too lazy. I will, however, start creating my own fan fiction in my mind, which takes significantly less effort than writing and can be done in the bathtub.

8-Foot-Tall LEGO Hulkbuster: Brickbuster

If you have a rampaging Hulk on your hands, you need Tony Stark to show up with his Hulkbuster suit and take care of business. But if Tony isn’t around, maybe this giant LEGO Hulkbuster statue will scare him away. Then again, maybe Hulk will just smash it to pieces. Either way, this thing is awesome.

This amazing statue is on display at The Toy Store UK, where it is destined to have it’s picture taken with thousands of kids and adults. This thing stands over 8-feet-tall, is 7 1/2-feet-wide and weighs over 2000 pounds. It took over 940 hours to build, and has a million bricks in it.

I would love to have this on display in my home.

Hulkbuster Costume is Ready to Take on a Hulk Cosplayer

Veteran costume maker Thomas DePetrillo aka Extreme Costumes recently showed off his take on Iron Man’s Hulkbuster suit. The costume is 9’6″ tall and 6’6″ wide and has LED lights and eye lasers.

Here’s a brief profile of Tom with a few behind the scenes shots of the Hulkbuster:

It’s not the most accurate or polished costume you’ll ever see, but it’s still very impressive, and surprisingly agile for its size. Check out Tom’s YouTube and Facebook pages for more of his work.

LEGO Hulkbuster Concept: Minibig

LEGO already has an official Hulkbuster figure, but MOCer Raymond Chow’s concept is beefier and more imposing. Even better, Ray built it using actual LEGO. I wouldn’t be surprised if he used the helmet from the aforementioned Hulkbuster toy.

Ray spent nearly two weeks and used around 800 pieces to build his concept. He also said he’s a Gundam fan, and it shows in his take on the armored suit’s chest and legs. He doesn’t have an Iron Man minifig yet, hence the silly cameo.

Hulkbuster Blueprint Shirt Should Be a Redprint

One of the coolest parts of Age of Ultron is when Iron Man faces off against the Hulk in his Hulkbuster armor. It’s sort of like an Iron Man suit for Iron Man. ThinkGeek has a new shirt that celebrates all the Hulk busting awesomeness.

hb-shirt-2zoom in

Clearly, Iron Man expected to have to put the smack down on the Hulk at some point since the suit of armor was ready and in orbit. It even has replaceable parts that fly out when needed.

The only problem I see with the shirt is that it is blue, shouldn’t anything Iron Man related be red? Color aside, this is an awesome shirt to add to your geeky wardrobe. You can get the shirt for $19.99 at ThinkGeek.
