Get Trigger-happy with the Vert!ca Vertical Camera

vertica_vertical_camera_layout

Due to our trusty smartphones, the vast majority of us always have a camera on our person, and this may have you questioning the need for a separate point-and-shoot. But when it looks like this, you’ll soon stop asking that question.

This is Vert!ca, and it challenges everything we know about how we use compact camera systems. Starting with the device’s orientation, while conventional cameras are designed to be used horizontally, Vert!ca, like its name would suggest, is geared towards a vertical orientation, for easy handling in one hand. Rather amazingly, its orientation doesn’t alter when it comes to capturing a landscape image. A rotating display allows for fast angle switching without changing hand position!

An Apple-esque touch-bar is located towards the top of the device, allowing for efficient control of the aperture, ISO, shutter speed and exposure. Also packed into this compact device is vision recognition, an AI assistant, intuitive smart gallery and contactless charging, all with the intention of creating both a beautiful and innovative camera!

A Product for Cat Lovers!

rub_cat_tower_layout

If you’re a cat owner, or if you have ever been into a home where one of the occupants is a cat, you will be aware of just how much hair cats shed, this will be even more noticeable if you are in fact allergic or have respiratory issues. This is the issue that Hyojeong Lee identified, and the solution came in the form of Rub Rub Rub.

With a design that has been inspired by the natural action of a leaf bursting out from the stem, this beautiful looking product combines the humble cat tower and the vacuum; a series of combs protrude from the central pillar which the cat can rub along, the homeowner then presses the button, positioned on a playful cat toy, that activates the vacuum and the loose fur is collected in the base.

Individuality can be expressed through the colored mats and this combined with the stunning design and practical functionality, makes for a very desirable product!

Never Miss a Package Again

unbox_smart_mailbox_layout

For anyone who regularly receives packages (which is just about everyone thanks to Amazon), securing your packages once they’ve arrived is problematic if not entirely stress inducing! You don’t leave your house unlocked, so why would you trust your items to stay on your doorstep? The time is approaching for homes and apartments to be equipped with personal package drop-offs. Designed with this in mind, the Unbox aims to make receiving packages a cinch.

Integrated into the exterior wall near your home’s entrance or other access point, the smart system can be accessed by couriers using a scanner or directly from the homeowner’s smartphone app. Users can monitor the interior of the container, identify the person dropping off, and keep an eye on things with integrated cameras and sensors that will alert to any breaches. Minimalistic in aesthetic, it seamlessly integrates into your home’s exterior look.

This Fan Sucks!

fantone_01

Literally… it blows and sucks! As more urban-based companies lean toward work-from-home policies, so does the need to have better indoor air quality at home. Designed with this in mind, Fan Tone by designer Hyojeong Lee is an interesting twist on the ceiling fan that does double duty as an indoor air cleaner that rids your home of harmful particles.

It can easily replace any existing fan or installed as a new fixture as it integrates into any standard electrical system. The unit utilizes a HEPA filter system and directly targets air where it matters most. Its fan system also ensures air is circulated for more comprehensive cleaning that stretches beyond room boundaries. It’s also equipped with wireless connectivity so it can relay information to a smartphone app that will give you real-time air quality stats. This also means it can work in tandem with any smart climate control system to provide more efficient cooling during summer months. No one would blame you for not wanting a big, bulky, asymmetrical object as the focal point of your room… but the idea of combining ceiling fans with air-cleaning tech is long overdue!

Can you Feel the Groove

Grooveat is here to disrupt the music streaming and audio industry in one big swoop. Grooveat is the music app and audio set that provides a suitable tracklist for you in real-time, based on your current taste of rhythm, not genre. What really makes the Grooveat something different, is the collection they appear to provide. Beginning with the music streaming app and following onto its own personalized Grooveat audio equipment – something we haven’t seen with the likes of Spotify. The earbuds here are edgy, maybe a little harsher than needs be at first glance, but it makes a lot more sense when looking at their integration with the speaker. The speaker has an interesting material mix – the outer shell being made from glass, housing the internal electronics and bridging the main interaction points and the speaker itself. The glass is disrupted at the rear with what seems to be a cone shape housing the audio equipment. I must say, I do enjoy the use of the headphones having a second function here, being used to navigate the menu and control the volume but I do wonder will this lead to more wear and tear for the headphones with prolonged use. That being said, this is a very cool concept and I’m sure if this hit the shops tomorrow it would do exceptionally well.
