Light Up Your Life with ilumi LED Smartbulbs
LED smartbulbs are the latest rave, as they enable you to save energy, while also providing you with some flexibility in terms of colors. ilumi does all that and adds a companion app to the equation, for ultimate customization options.
First seen as a Kickstarter project back in July 2015, the ilumi LED smartbulb really brings home lighting to the 21st century. This little gadget does more than shining light in your room, as it can improve your sleep, complement your mood, and ramp up your music. For a while, Philips Hue was the only option for anyone wanting a change from the ever-so-dull white, but now there’s a new player in town, and it plans to take versatility to the next level.
The ilumi LED smartbulb is available in two versions. The A19 is similar in shape to regular LED or incandescent bulbs, while the BR30 has a recessed top, which makes it look far more futuristic. As many have pointed out while the ilumi was up for crowdfunding on Kickstarter, this LED smartbulb does more than just change colors.
For starters, you can sync it to your music, so you can party like it’s the ’70s again. This feature gets particularly interesting if you’re using more than just one ilumi LED smartbulb.
You can also set it up to wake you naturally with a scheduled sunrise. However, you need to make sure that the phone is within 150 feet from the smartbulb, in order to control it when you’re at home.
More than that, you can turn it on remotely to give the impression that someone’s at home, or you can have the app turn the smartbulbs on and off as you’re moving from room to room. This is definitely an interesting feature that will help you save a lot of energy in the long run.
Just imagine the options people would have if this LED smartbulb was supported by the IFTTT app, like Philips HUE currently is. I’m sure that if enough people asked for this, someone would find a why to implement it, in order to increase even more the versatility of this product.
As for smartphone compatibility, the companion app is available for devices with Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and iOS 6.0+ or Android 4.3+. In other words, you’ll be just fine if you’re using an iPhone 4S and up, iPad 3rd Gen and up, iPad Mini and Up, or iPod 5th Gen, for the iOS side of things, or a Samsung Galaxy S3 and up, Google Nexus 4, 5, and 7, or an HTC One.
You can get the ilumi A19 LED smartbulb for $44.99 (originally $60) on Walyou Deals, and the BR30 model for $52.49 from $70. Both models provide you with a lot of color options, not to mention the sort of flexibility you get from the companion app. All sales are final and shipping is free to continental US addresses.
