This Bed Lets Kids Sleep Under an Imperial Walker

Can you imagine waking up every morning and looking up to see an Imperial Walker towering over your head? Well, if you’ve got $8500 lying around, your kid could experience that thanks to the guys at Tiny Town Studios. These guys create all kinds of amazing custom builds, from pirate ships to giant alligators you can walk through.

This awesome handmade bed lets kids sleep between the legs of an AT-AT while imagining they’re flying along the snowy surface of Hoth in a T-47 Rebel Airspeeder. Of course, you wouldn’t your kid to be lying beneath this thing when it came crashing down, so it’s best not to try wrapping its legs with a tow cable.

The bed appears to be twin-size, but I’m sure with deep enough pockets, you could convince Tiny Town to build you a version with a bigger bed underneath. I want a California King with enough room for me to roll around on it my AT-AT pilot costume. Or better yet, can I get a version with a ladder, and the bed is inside the AT-AT? And rig it up so the legs move and I can stomp around my neighborhood this winter when there’s snow on the ground.

AT-AT Liquor Cabinet Perfect for Serving Up Your Johnnie (Imperial) Walker Black

I’ve always wanted one of those fancy liquor cabinets in my house. I’m not talking about the type that look like an old globe either. I want a really cool one. Perhaps something really original, like one that looks like an AT-AT Imperial Walker. Oh, what’s that you say? Somebody already beat me to the punch? Damn.

at_at_liquor_cabinet

Yep, what you’re looking at here is the most awesome bar for serving up your finest booze – all in the shape of an AT-AT. Luckily, it has yet to be brought down by a snow speeder’s tow cables, as that would be a horrible tragedy. The cabinet appears to be handcrafted from wood and brass, and stands at least 4 or 5 feet tall – unless those guys in the photo are Ewoks disguised as humans.

I know not from whence this tasty morsel of awesome comes, other than the fact that these photos were posted up on imgur back in 2011. If you happen to have been involved in the construction of this monument to geeky greatness, speak up and take credit where credit is due. I’ll be over here in the corner, keeping warm with a Hoth Toddy.

Colin Furze Builds 18-Foot Star Wars AT-ACT Playhouse

A giant tall imperial walker playhouse is every kid’s dream. Well, Colin Furze is making dreams come true, because he built one in his backyard for his kids.

at_act_1

This 18 foot-tall walker was built to scale using an AT-ACT toy from Rogue One for reference. An AT-ACT is just like an AT-AT except that it means extra toy money for Hasbro. Its head is a bit different and it has a cargo compartment in its body. The playhouse has a retractable, electric-powered staircase, and an interior full of Star Wars toys and memorabilia.

It towers over some of his neighbor’s houses and looks like it is about to start destroying things. I love the aerial shots of this thing in Colin’s video:

Obviously, it really rocks to have a mad scientist dad like Colin Furze. I’m not sure that his neighbors would agree though.

Ugly AT-AT Sweater Will Rule the Imperial Christmas Party

This sweater looks to me like something straight out of the ’80s, with teal, purple, and black colors that always remind me of Miami Vice. The AT-AT is white and walking along in what we assume is a winter wonder land of Hoth.

atat-sweat-1

The sweater is made from acrylic, so it probably itches like crazy. Another bit of bad news is that you have to hand wash this thing and dry it flat. If you hang it to dry it will stretch. Fortunately, you’ll probably only be wearing it for that ugly sweater holiday party, then put it back in the closet for another year.

You can get one at ThinkGeek for $49.99 with sizes for men and women ranging from medium to 3X.

AT-AT Walker Bookcase: The Empire Strikes Book

There aren’t many more iconic creations from the Star Wars universe than the AT-AT Imperial walkers from The Empire Strikes Back. Sure, they ended up having an Achilles’ heel (or four of them), but I’d like to see you design a walking weapon that can’t be tripped. Fans of the AT-AT will definitely appreciate this piece of furniture – a bookcase made in the form of the Imperial walker.

Diana over at Bit Rebels spotted this awesome AT-AT bookshelf by Whittled in Wood. It’s perfect for holding onto your Star Wars books and collectibles, and while it might designed for a kid’s room, I don’t see any reason why you adults can’t enjoy it too. It’s handmade from birch plywood and other woods, and held together with screws and dowel rods. That sounds pretty sturdy to me, but you still won’t want to let any Rebel snow speeders get near it with tow cables.

The AT-AT bookshelf is available over on Whittled in Wood’s Etsy shop for $565(USD). While you’re over there, you might want to pick up a Millenium Falcon

AT-AT Groom’s Cake, Attack It with a Snowspeeder Fork

We’ve seen some impressive Star Wars cakes, but this AT-AT takes the proverbial cake. This thing looks amazing and the details are super nice – so nice that it doesn’t even look like a cake. It was made by Cake Central member ChrisTheCook for a friend’s wedding and it stands at over two feet-tall.

If the Imperial March isn’t playing in your head at the sight of this cake, I will need to revoke your geek credentials and lock you up in a dark cell without the internet. With a very talkative Jar Jar!

The cake board is covered in snow to look like Hoth of course, though there’s no signs of any edible snowspeeders or tauntaun.

AT-AT Wire Sculpture: Get Bent on Hoth

The AT-AT Imperial Walker is one of the most iconic machines in the history of motion pictures, so whenever I spy some object made in the form of the classic robot camel from The Empire Strikes Back, it piques my curiosity. I’m especially happy to have stumbled onto this AT-AT interpretation, done up using carefully bent wire.

at at wire sculpture

Artist Jakobi created this AT-AT sculpture by meticulously bending lengths of galvanized steel and stainless steel wire. He says it’s one of the more complex wire sculptures he’s ever created, and it definitely looks like it was challenging to get the shapes just right.

The sculpture measures about 12″ long by 10″ tall by 4.5″ wide, and would look great in an Star Wars collection. You can find it over on Etsy for $120 (USD).  He’s also got a little AT-ST sculpture available for $70 if you prefer your walkers with two legs.

While you’re there, be sure to check out Jakobi’s other cool wire sculptures and paintings, and if you’re looking for other AT-AT stuff, be sure to check out the Imperial Walker cake and the AT-AT PC Casemod.

AT-AT PC Casemod is Cooler Than Hoth

I was just watching that Family Guy episode where they referred to Imperial Walkers as “robot camels,” and they are so right. Not that it makes AT-ATs any less cool – especially when the AT-AT in question is actually a computer.

at at pc casemod 1

Modder Asphiax has put together this Imperial Walker PC using one of those giant Hasbro AT-ATs as the starting point. Instead of Imperial troops, the AT-AT PC has a Zotax Z68 Mini ITX mobo inside with an Intel Core i7-2600K CPU, a Sapphire 6870 GPU and 8GB of RAM.

at at pc casemod insides

The system is cooled by Koolance 370 CPU and mosfet waterblocks along with a Heatkiller NB/SB waterblock, and XSPC pump, 2 x 240 radiators, 4 x 120mm Enermax Fans, and controlled by a Scythe Mediabay. Boy, that sounds more complex than the insides of an actual AT-AT. Then again, they probably didn’t need much cooling on Hoth.

It also has a USB powered Arduino which controls a pair of red lasers installed in its head-cannons. Cool.

You can check out more photos of the AT-AT PC build, and many other sci-fi inspired mods over on Asphiax’ website or his SCIFI OCD Facebook group.
