Get Creative with Adonit Adobe Ink & Slide

Adobe Ink & Slide 01

iPads already pack enough computing power to run Adobe’s Illustrator Draw and Photoshop Sketch without any problems, but to use the apps to the fullest, you need a couple of creative tools such as the Adobe Ink & Slide.

First announced back in 2013 as projects Mighty and Napoleon, the Adobe Ink & Slide could be regarded as a premium stylus and ruler, but in fact their functionality goes way beyond that. Fit for both budding artists and professionals, the two tools can easily turn an iPad into a digital canvas. In all fairness, drawing on a tablet without at least a basic stylus typically leads to inaccurate shapes where precise lines should be. Adobe Ink and Slide, which are now available in our store, Walyou Deals, can improve the way you sketch on the iPad.

You don’t have to give up on sketching while traveling or commuting, especially if you own an iPad. Pack the Ink stylus with you, to draw smoothly and seamlessly, and the Slide ruler to create lines and curves with impressive accuracy. The combo enables you to draw any shape you want, from straight lines and circles to French curves.

The LED light of the stylus will help you notice whether the Ink is on and connected to an iPad. Setting both of these devices up is really easy, and the entire setup process will take very little of your time. The two gadgets aren’t only highly functional, but they are also very durable, as they are both encased in aluminum, and their bodies feel very sleek. If you’re curious about the dimensions, Ink measures 5.6? × 0.5? × 0.5? and weighs 0.04 pounds, while Slide is 3.9? × 0.9? × 0.4?, at about the same weight.

If you’re concerned about compatibility, then you should learn that the Ink and Slide connect over Bluetooth 4.0 to iPad 4 or newer, all models of iPad Mini, including Retina, and the first generation iPad Air. If you decide to use Ink and Slide with non-iPad devices and non-Adobe software, you’ll only have access to stylus functionality.

Adobe Illustrator Draw and Adobe Photoshop Sketch, the two apps that the Ink and Slide were designed for, can be downloaded for free from the iTunes Store. On top of that, you can use these two items with a Creative Cloud membership. There is a free option for this, too, so you don’t have to worry about spending any additional money besides what you’re paying for the accessories.

Adobe Ink & Slide are available as a set on Walyou Deals, where you can save 85% off the retail price. In other words, you will only pay $29.99 instead of $200, but for that you’ll have to hurry, as the offer expires in 6 days. All sales are final, and shipping is free to continental US addresses. Deliveries are expected to take place between February 12 and 15.

iBed iPad Lap Desk: iWant One

There are tons of keyboard add-ons for the iPad, but who are we kidding? Admit it, you’ve found it hard to actually get anything worthwhile done with your iPad. A few hours of browsing Reddit here and a few rounds of playing Magic there and suddenly it’s 4 AM. The perfect time to fire up Netflix and catch up on Archer. So really, we don’t need a keyboard. We need the iBed.

It’s out of stock – unsurprisingly! – from maker Kikkerland as of this writing, but you can get the iBed from Taylor Gifts for $19 (USD) or from Amazon for $15. I know what you’re thinking. Don’t. Don’t buy one then use it to eat while you poop. Come on man. Even slackers have standards.

ORA Speaker Wraps Around Your iPad to Give You Surround Sound – Literally

Thanks to it’s less-than-stellar internal speaker, there are a lot of iPad speakers to choose from in the market. Personally, I’ve got my sights set on the ORA. It’s the first of its kind that I’ve seen, and so far, I like what I see.

ora ipad speaker case

It’s basically a speaker that surrounds your entire iPad. Actually, I stand corrected: there are actually eight speakers surrounding the iPad.

Ora Speaker

Now it won’t give you surround sound even though the speakers are all around your tablet, but it will give you decent audio so you and a whole bunch of other people can gather around and watch a movie or two. It also functions as a case for your iPad, and offers an optional front flip-cover that works like Apple’s Smart Cover.

The ORA Speaker is currently up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $99(USD) will get you one, while $129 will get you the speaker along with the matching cover/stand.

ZAGG intros a pair of Bluetooth keyboard cases for the iPad, three pairs of gaming headphones

Zagg

Sometimes at trade shows we see funky-looking Windows 8 devices, other times we see bags filled with a morphing rainbow colors and sometimes we see things whose importance falls somewhere in the middle. That's the situation ZAGG finds itself in this week, as it tries to win attention at IFA amid dozens of laptop / tablet hybrids and 84-inch TVs. The company is in Berlin as we type this, showing off the new ZAGGkeys Pro and Pro Plus, two Bluetooth keyboard cases for the iPad. Both have a magnetic closure, but the Pro version adds backlighting. Those will be available at the end of September for $99 and $129, respectively. Additionally, the company announced a trio of Caliber gaming headphones, including the Stealth, a pair optimized for mobile devices, and the Axiom, which works with Macs, PCs, the Xbox and PS3. Both have in-line controls. Rounding out the list, there's the Vanguard, which offers 7.1 channel audio. Look for these in October, for $60, $90 and $130, respectively. The PR's embedded after the break, though you won't find much more detail there, sadly.

Padcaster SLR lens mount for iPad now available: priced at $149 or $189 for Lenscaster combo

Padcaster SLR lens mount for iPad now available: priced at $149 or $189 for Lenscaster combo

Those who were quite amused by the revelation of that Padcaster back at this year's NAB might want to start prepping their wallets, as the creator's announced it's now shipping the filmmaking iPad companion. Notably, during our first encounter with the Padcatser, we were told it'd be selling for "about $200" once it was released -- but, as it turns out, the SLR lens-mounting peripheral is being priced at a decent $149, while $40 more gets you the Padcaster / Lenscaster combo. That being said, it's also worth noting the company's dubbing this as a "special pricing" and for "a limited time only," with no word on when such promo will be running out. Either way, you can grab one now at the source link below, though it appears you'll have to wait between 2-4 weeks for it to show up at your lovely doorstep.

IK Multimedia iRig MIX review: a mobile mixer built for iDevices

IK Multimedia iRig MIX review

Accessories, iOS has them. Not many devices can boast the same rich and dazzling array of add-ons that the iPhone or iPad enjoy -- from keyboards to docks, arcade cabinets to battery packs. Today's offering? A mobile mixer. The iRig MIX from IK Multimedia, to be precise. It's essentially a mini DJ tool, designed to work with such iGadgets, and brought to you by the same serial audio-accessorizers behind the iRig MIC Cast and AmpliTube. If you think you've seen this fella before, then you likely have, as this got its first glimpse of sunlight back at CES. Now it's here for real, auditioning for your affections as if it were on "American Idol."

While it's easy to dismiss some of the more ambitious accessories as as trying to push the limits of iPad / iPhone functionality to the extreme, it's also worth remembering that accessory X isn't always about replacing object Y. No one ever bought a USB webcam thinking it'd turn them into Spielberg, now did they? But, they might have gotten one thinking it would give their PC some skills it never had before. So it's with this short, preemptive missive in mind that we turn on the iRig MIX, plug in and rock out. Hopefully.

Brydge iPad Keyboard: Admit It Apple, This is a Good Idea

It seems like every week, a new keyboard case for the iPad is released. I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple itself releases its own version, but if they don’t, the Brydge just might be the keyboard case that will win over devoted Apple fans: it looks good, it’s made of aluminum (and it’s expensive.)

brydge ipad keyboard

The biggest selling point of the Brydge is that it just looks beautiful with the iPad, blending well with Apple’s laptops and desktops in both appearance and material. Sure, it also has built-in speakers, a full-sized keyboard and it holds the iPad firmly in place, but you can find those features in other keyboard cases too. Unless it turns out to have a major flaw the Brydge will sell based on its looks alone.

To prove my point, the Kickstarter fundraiser for Brydge met its goal of $90,000 (USD) within a day of its launch, despite not having a pledge option lower than $150(USD). $90,000 in one day, despite the fact that most – if any at all – of the backers have not tested the keyboard case yet and that inventor Brad Leong is a relative unknown.

I’m not saying Leong doesn’t deserve the success or that the Brydge is a scam – heck, I want one – just that he knows how to capture an Apple fan’s heart – through their eyeballs. You can pre-order the Brydge on Kickstarter with a pledge of at least $170.
