Casetify’s new AirPods Case isn’t pocket-friendly… but it’s definitely a collector’s item

“Let me wear my AirPods…”
*proceeds to pull an Iron Man helmet out of their backpack*

I’ll be honest – is Casetify’s latest AirPods case practical? Hell no. Is it cool? Oh absolutely. Partnering with Marvel, the company debuted a few Iron Man-themed accessories, although none as on-the-nose as their AirPods case. Designed to look exactly like an Iron Man helmet that opens up to reveal your TWS earbuds, this little number comes with a stand you can place it on a carabiner clip in case you want to strap it to your backpack… and the best part, light-up eyes that should surely grab the attention of fellow enthusiasts.

Designer: Casetify

Designed for the AirPods Pro and Pro 2, the case is roughly fist-sized, and comes with a painted plastic finish (although a chrome-plating would really seal the deal). The Iron Man head opens just the way the helmet does in the movies, although that doesn’t open the lid of the AirPods Pro case… you still need to flip the helmet open, and then flip open the AirPods case lid to get to your TWS earbuds. A bit of a hassle, sure, but heck… does it look cool.

The Tony Stark-esque holder doesn’t charge your AirPods Pro, however. It’s merely just an outer cover for storing your AirPods in, eschewing that boring white plastic exterior for something more edgy and cool. The best part, however, is the fact that the eyes actually light up. Relying on a single CR2032 coin battery, the eyes on the helmet glow in the signature blue when you shut the helmet, shining for 2 minutes before they dim out automatically.

Priced at $122, the Iron Man AirPods Pro case isn’t specifically pocket-friendly (both physically and fiscally), but it’s definitely worth adding to your collection if you consider yourself a comic-book aficionado or just a fan of the franchise. At least it’s big enough that you won’t be able to accidentally lose it, right??

These futuristic Iron Man sneakers concepts will make you feel like a superhero

Over the decades, certain fictional characters have become iconic brands themselves, spurring numerous themed products to tickle fans’ fancies. This is true for childhood friends like Mickey Mouse and Hello Kitty, as well as for more mature characters like superheroes such as Superman, Batman, and Iron Man. Branded apparel often simply use color schemes or character art, but few actually make you feel like the character unless you start getting into the realm of cosplay. These sneakers concept, however, throws all those conventions out the window to present designs that straddle the line between fantasy and reality, making you wish that this footwear did exist just so that you can literally step into the shoes of an iconic superhero.

Designer: Khalil Zahirian

Some superheroes, especially the most popular ones, are designed to be controversial, often to prove that even those who wear tights and capes can be flawed. One shining example is Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, whose escapades as a playboy and an alcoholic may make some question where his moral compass really points to. Few, however, will ever doubt the genius inside the armor, and this collection of sneaker design concepts tries to showcase that creativity in a form that you could wear without looking too overbearing.

There are a few design elements of the Iron Man costume that have become iconic throughout different versions. There are the predominant red and gold colors, of course, but there are also the “Repulsor” lasers that shoot out of the supes’ hands. The movies have also put the spotlight on the glowing blue Arc Reactor chest piece. One important element of the armor that is often overlooked is the boots that make it fly.

All these elements are smashed together in a single piece of footwear that leaves no room for doubt that these are Iron Man sneakers. Not only does the color scheme match expectations, but there are also plenty of embellishments that take the design a few levels higher than simple branded footwear. The cutouts on the top, for example, are clear nods to the aforementioned Arc Reactor, while the blue lights around the soles and even on the outsoles give the image of shoes that are ready to blast off at any moment. The faceted surfaces, atypical of most sneakers, give it an armor vibe, even without the brushed metal finish.

Some elements of these concepts seem to be feasible today since we already have sneakers that light up at every step. Others, like that metallic sheen, might be a little harder to pull off. The shoes are definitely not designed for practical use or even comfort, as there are no clear mechanisms for loosening or tightening them. It definitely comes close to being the ultimate Iron Man sneakers that fans would definitely wear proudly when they finally become reality.

Drool over your favorite superheroes and villains as superbikes in this eye-popping AI-generated series

Most of the superheroes have one thing in common – they have a cool set of wheels that adds to their heroic presence. While we already went bonkers over the AI-generated helmets and footwear, deep down I wished there was a bike that would perfectly match popular superheroes. AI-generated mash-up of cars in the style of famous designers was consolation but I was always longing for more…

This crazy wish has been fulfilled, and in a way more than I could ever envisage. This is an imaginative mock-up of what superhero sports bikes would look like and the results are jaw-dropping. Midjourney AI tool must take most of the credit here, along with the creator’s unique keywords to generate the intended artwork.

Designer: Synergy Art AI

King Cobra, the famous supervillain from the Marvel universe who’s the enemy of Thor, Captain America, Deadpool and the Falcon would appreciate AI for such a cool ride to hop on. There’s the intimidating scaly form done in matte black and gold acescents that matches the character’s mean personality.

Then there’s the Aquaman bike which gets the familiar green hues and bronze inserts of the superhero capable of controlling aquatic lifeforms telepathically in their language.

The super-speedy Flash has superhuman reflexes and is known as the Scarlet Speedster for obvious reasons. To match his physics-defying abilities, the sports bike has a dynamic presence, ready for the ultimate Need for Speed. I guess this one will be the fastest of them, ready to shatter all the salt flats records once and for all.

Another supervillain getting a supercool two-wheeled monster is none other than Bane. “The Man Who Broke the Bat” forcing Bruce Wayne to give up in a fight, gets an equally powerful superbike to celebrate his victory.

Next up on the AI’s list is Firestorm who’s basically a fused entity with extraordinary transmutation powers. The ability of particle manipulation to alter the structure of any substance is adopted in a sports bike with a super fearsome persona. The glossy shades in deep red, gold and black do complete justice to the superheroes’ character.

One of the most famous superheroes of all time, Spiderman gets a matching ride to scout the city filled with thugs and villains. The AI-generated bike has an exoskeleton-like frame to match Spiderman’s creepy yet cool look in matte red and black.

Last but not the least, the AI algorithm gets Iron Man’s larger-than-life presence to perfection. Just imagine Arno Stark (previously Tony Stark) riding this supercool bike in the fictional city of the Marvel world.

If I must pick canny little details missed by the AI, then the handlebars on some of these are designed wrong and most of these rides don’t have footpegs. Somehow it reminds me of the missing fingers of humans generated by AI which are otherwise impressive as hell creations. It would have been great if Flash got an electric sports bike, Bane had a muscle cruiser and Iron Man had a sports tourer to keep things versatile. That said, this artwork is perfect to go up on a superhero fanatic’s Wall of Fame!

LEGO Releasing 4,049-Piece Iron Man Hulkbuster Build Set

Priced to bust wallets at $550, the LEGO Avengers Hulkbuster set is the toy giant’s largest Marvel set to date, with an impressive 4,049 pieces. For reference, that’s $200 more but only 277 pieces more than the LEGO Daily Bugle set. Those extra 277 pieces must really be expensive ones.

The set will be released on November 9th and is also the largest LEGO mech set, standing over 20.5″ tall with an optional Iron Man figure that goes INSIDE the mecha. It features light-up arc reactors in both hands and chest, as well as several other new LEGO elements like special glow-in-the-dark and gold bricks. The whole upper body is articulated for posing and includes a Tony Stark in Mark 43 suit minifig. It is currently listed in the coveted spot #3 on my Christmas list.

With the popularity of both LEGO and The Avengers, I’m sure the set will be a hit. Although how many people will be willing to dig $550 out of their wallets to buy one remains to be seen. Of course, there are probably a lot of LEGO and Avengers fans out there that are richer than I am. Most of them, actually.

Towering 4,049-piece Hulkbuster LEGO set for Iron Man fans’ delight

Hulkbuster suit is Iron Man’s most ambitious build and now it is coming to the LEGO realms to the delight of fans. Even better, this will be the largest build of the 2022 LEGO collection and the best-ever Iron Man Hulkbuster coming in a colossal 4,049-piece set. However, it is also the most expensive Marvel set ever released at $550 beating the 3,772-piece LEGO Daily Bugle set.

Iron Man’s iconic armor is purely inspired by the suit appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and boy do we love it. Attention to detail in this MCU LEGO set is highly intricate with things like posable arms for orienting the big mecha in various configurations and an accessible cockpit to place the Iron Man Figure which is not a part of this purchase though. Compared to the earlier build, this 20.5-inch tall and 9.5-inches long masterpiece shadows the Iron Man buildable figurine by a long way.

Designer: LEGO Group

The towering collectible has movie-accurate features including the cockpit inside the red and gold-plated armor, or the information plate showing the techie data. For those who always trip over the little details, there’s the Tony Stark mini figure in the Iron Man suit which adds a unique touch to the LEGO build when stacked up from scratch. To keep the realism going, there are authentic details such as the 3 light-up arc reactor adorning the chest and also present on the hands.

Putting this LEGO set up brick by brick will be a satisfying experience for collectors and Iron Man fans alike. The fact that this build will get fans up close and personal with the undaunting force is in itself an experience. For LEGO VIP members the Hulkbuster LEGO set will arrive on November 4 while others can lay their hands on this cool MCU buildable from November 9.

Custom LEGO Iron Man figurine comes with movable arms and legs, and even a glowing arc reactor!

Even with its brick-ish appeal, this rather fun-looking LEGO Iron Man (Mark 43) comes with an impressively maneuverable design. The figurine stands tall, its arms and legs adjustable… and the cherry on the cake? Movable fingers that let it shoot repulsors, grab objects, or potentially snap its fingers in an air of defiance to Thanos!

Created by LEGO Master Builder Ransom_Fern, the Iron Man Mk 43 is actually a mashup of two separate LEGO sets – the Infinity Saga Iron Man (code 76206), and the Eternals in Arishem’s Shadow kit (76155). The result is a figurine that’s much larger than the original Infinity Saga build, and arguably better looking too. Ransom_Fern spent two full months putting this piece together and the result is a much more proportional action figure, with a better silhouette, a great stance, and the same classic appeal.

Designer: Ransom_Fern

For Ransom_Fern, the brief was simple – make a better version of LEGO’s own Iron Man figure. “The two things I absolutely needed this to do, is look pretty, and stay together”, he said. The entire ordeal took roughly 30 hours over a span of two months. Random_Fern mixed and matched pieces from two Iron Man lego kits and one Eternals kit, eventually creating his new figure (with quite a few extra parts left over).

The new build stands almost perfectly, with a flatter back, better shoulders, and a nearly spot-on set of boots that are just the right shape and size. For the most part, this MOC (My Own Creation) is positionable, with moving fingers, and even a glowing arc reactor, activated using a switch built into the back of the suit.

This BMW Motorrad superbike radiates those sick Iron Man helmet vibes

A café racer built for the kill with a definitive sense of balanced beefy look. This superbike concept is a good reference point for future BMW Motorrad bikes, and for Marvels to ponder over a cool two-wheeled machine for Tony Stark to save the world from the clutches of evil without much fuzz!

Iron Man is one of the most happening superheroes who lives life in the fast lane while dealing with wicked terrorist groups. All that fame, charmer’s appeal, and rides of choice like the Audi R8 go well with Tony Stark’s image. So, how about adding a dapper two-wheeled ride to the collection?

Designer: Sabino Leerentveld

This drop-dead gorgeous café racer designed by Sabino Leerentveld instantly sparks the visuals of Tony taking on the bad guys in sublime style. The ability to snake through the crowded city streets in hot pursuit, or simply show off the sublime style quotient arriving at the next big Stark Industries meeting. Complementing the Iron Man helmet when it comes to life, the BMW Motorrad CH4 superbike has Tony Stark influence written all over it. Right from the aerodynamic geometric shape to the big fat wheels meant for a high-speed adrenaline rush.

The dual-toned bike comes in cool white & black combo for weekday commutes, while the striking metallic silver and yellow combo is a god sent for the weekend fun. Sabino keeps the rear half and side body of the bike exposed – revealing the muscular character of the hunky ride. Just look at that dual wishbone suspension, reinforced swingarm, big exhaust pipes, and the drive motor giving it the luring appeal modern bikers will find hard to resist.

If you ask me, this motorbike is an instant attention grabber. Who wouldn’t want to take this one for a high-speed stint on an open highway? The BMW Motorrad clan identity is instantly identifiable with the subtle contours mated to the sharp looks. CH4 is rightfully the Chris Bumstead of the superbike world – just look at those contrasting body parts shaped like toned muscles!

This Guy Makes Helmets for His Cat

Rémy Vicarini and his cat Cathode have made a name for themselves on the Internet. Not because his kitty does tricks or anything, but because Rémy likes to dress Cathode up in tiny, custom-made helmets. I’m not sure if they actually offer any protection, but it’s not like human cosplay armor does either.

Rémy designs a computer model of each helmet them outputs them on a 3D printer. They’re custom-sized to ensure a snug fit to Cathode’s little head. Of course, he makes holes in them for Cathode’s ears to poke out to keep them from getting bent – plus kitty just looks cooler that way.

Among his creations are a motorized Iron Man’s helmet, a bike helmet, an astronaut’s helmet, a motorcycle helmet, and a LEGO knight helmet. You can check out some more of Rémy and Cathode’s stylish headgear in the videos below:

Engineer designed and built his own functioning mechanical prosthetic hand and it looks like a steampunk beauty!

It looks like equal parts Iron Man and the Winter Soldier, and it makes really cool whirring and clicking noises too!

Most people look to 2019 with a certain fondness and nostalgia, but the year proved quite difficult for Ian Davis. Not only did he lose 4 of his fingers in a freak workshop accident, but he was also diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, an aggressive type of cancer. To add figurative salt to his wounds, Davis found out his medical insurance didn’t cover costs for a prosthetic hand because ‘he only lost his fingers and not his entire hand’. Determined not to be shaken by this strange detour life forced him to take, and also empowered by his sheer willpower to keep creating, Davis decided to build a prosthetic of his own.

Relying on his professional knowledge as a mechanical engineer, and taking to 3D printing, Ian embarked on a journey to rebuild his hand and his life. “Being a maker, it was a tough deal,” Ian said as he had to use his hand for everything. Davis even documented the entire process on his YouTube channel through a series of videos that show assemblies, versions, updates, and upgrades. In his latest upgrade, Davis demonstrates the prosthetic’s ability to splay (or spread out) the mechanical fingers… something he says is very rare, if not entirely absent, in commercial prosthetics. The fact that the entire prosthetic limb is engineered from scratch gave Davis the ability to repair and augment his creation, something he wouldn’t be able to do with complex, commercially manufactured prosthetic limbs… especially given America’s strict laws against the “Right To Repair”.

What’s really noteworthy about Davis’ creation is that it’s entirely mechanical and doesn’t rely on electronic components, software, and batteries. In a Reddit thread, he mentions that the mechanical hand has many obvious benefits over an electronic one. For starters, it doesn’t need charging (and conversely never runs out of charge either), but it’s also MUCH faster than electronic limbs. It takes an average of 0.2 seconds to open or close the fist, as opposed to electronic prosthetics that can take 10 times longer. Let’s also state the fairly obvious in that it even looks absolutely INSANE, with the steampunk metal digits and the tiny #15 industrial chain running through them… as well as the whirring and clicking sounds they make as they move.

It’s a relentless process of trial, error, and improvement for Ian Davis. He started working on the concept back in July of 2019, and slowly and surely built new features into his hand to make it better, with the latest addition being the splaying function. Moving forward, Ian also plans to implement an Arduino with a display to gain individual control of the fingers and some servo motors to advance the design.

“My end goal is to get picked up by one of the major prosthetic manufacturers and design hands for them in their R&D department, creating real-world solutions for partial hand amputees. Durable products that you can take to work and actually get jobs done with. Allowing people to get back to their lives, doing things that they loved before the time of their life-changing accidents”, Ian says.
