Japan’s In Game Booster Gel Wants to Level Up your Gaming

Ready to take on an marathon gaming session? You might think a highly caffeinated drink like Mountain Dew or Red Bull will help you stay awake and alert, but there’s a company in Japan that thinks that’s wrong. Instead, the guys at Morinaga believe vitamins and other nutrients are the key to a sharp mind and focus while gaming.

In Game Booster is a gel-based energy supplement that comes in 180 gram (6.3 ounce) ready-to-slurp pouches.m The blueberry flavored jelly inside is formulated with 180 calories of energy, along with vitamin A and GABA amino acids. Morinaga claims this combination will help replenish your energy during gaming sessions, and thanks to its gelatin-based composition, it will also make you feel fuller than simply drinking liquid.

I took a moment to translate the label, and it looks like the main ingredients are a fructose-glucose liquid sugar, along with maltodextrin, and real blueberry juice, along with the aforementioned supplements. No caffeine here. Just sugar and vitamins.

The guys over at SoraNews24 recently tested out some of the In Game Booster gel, and thought it was pretty good stuff, at least as jelly drinks go. You can read their full review here. It’s available for purchase from Amazon Japan for ¥1,580 (~$15 USD) for a 6-pack, or ¥9,480 (~$88 USD) for a case of 36.

Jelly Super Mario Brothers: A Bad Trip in the Mushroom Kingdom

If you’ve ever wondered what playing Super Mario Bros. is like when high on drugs, look no further. This video of Jelly Mario Bros. shows you firsthand. It’s basically the first level of the 8-bit Nintendo classic, reprogrammed by Twitter user @schteppe with elastic physics. It’s all jelly-like and trippy and weird.

You can play an early alpha version of the first level here if you want. I hope more levels are coming soon, because this is way cheaper – and less hazardous than taking hallucinogens. There’s something oddly mesmerizing about it. Good luck to anyone trying to do a speedrun on World 1-1. See you in about 5 hours. What, you think you can beat the record? I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly.

So what happens when someone who is actually stoned or drunk tries to play a game that is also stoned and drunk? I want to know. Someone make that YouTube video, and share it with us, please. Honestly this kind of gameplay should have been in the original game, but only for like 30 seconds after each time Mario eats a mushroom.

The Jelly Vibrations

Clean your clothes using only jelly and vibrations! Wow, now that sounds farfetched! According to designer Jee Na Jun, the Vibrate Jelly Laundry concept washing machine does not require any water for washing clothes. It uses the principles of vibration and jelly to rid soiled clothes of dirt and grime. Of course the process of this principle has not been explained by the designer, perhaps clarity will set in if the project moves to the next level of the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab Competition.

Vibrate Jelly Laundry is one of the Top 100 Finalists at the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab. You can vote for this or any other project over here. Voting closes May 16th 2014.

Twitter #Music lead joins Biz Stone's mysterious Jelly project

If you're not familiar with Kevin Thau, you ought to be: he worked on many of Twitter's early mobile efforts, helped integrate it into major platforms and headed up the Twitter #Music app. That's what makes his newly confirmed move to Twitter co-founder Biz Stone's new firm, Jelly, so interesting. While little is known about Jelly beyond its plan for a decentralized service, Thau will be heading up numerous aspects of business operations at the company while it builds "world class mobile products." We'll have to wait awhile before we see his influence, but his presence hints that Jelly is more than just a casual project.

Thousands of Mysterious Purple Spheres Discovered in the Desert

In Tucson, Arizona, locals have discovered a strange collection of purple spheres in the middle of the desert. It’s not yet certain what these spheres are, but analyses are being made to ascertain their exact nature.

mysterious purple spheres

Geraldine Vargas and her husband were taking a walk when they came upon the spheres. Some of the spheres were watery while others were translucent. When poked, they let out a watery substance. Some scientists have speculated that the spheres could be a slime mold or jelly fungus. It’s also possible that it’s a man-made product for plant hydration.

One thing is for sure, these spheres aren’t from outer space as some have theorized. They were localized and seemed to ooze out of the ground.
