Stay Fresh Anytime, Anywhere with Stylish Wearable Aroma Diffuser Pins

The sense of smell is easily taken for granted compared to sight and even hearing, but odors and scents actually have an often subtle yet significant effect on our moods and even our health. Bad smells can throw us off our equilibrium, while aromatic scents can either soothe or energize us. Unfortunately, we have little to no control over what we smell or even how we smell during the day, not unless we carry a bottle of perfume with us all the time. A more practical solution would be to have a tiny amount of your favorite fragrance on or near you throughout the day, which is what this ingenious pin offers in an inconspicuous button-shaped design.

Aromatic oil diffusers have become quite fashionable these days, coming in all shapes, sizes, and features. All of them, however, are confined to being used in rooms, often placed on a flat surface like a table or shelf. You could bring a small bottle of your favorite oil with you, but those oils are quite strong if you don’t find a way to diffuse the scent, which is what a diffuser is made for. Portable aroma diffusers are, unfortunately, still bulky and inconvenient to use, especially when you still have to take them out of your bag or purse and put them down on some surface.

The ALMA aroma pin is a simple yet elegant solution that lets you enjoy the gentle fragrance of your aromatic oils without lifting a finger. The pins are actually tiny containers that can hold a pinch of cotton where you drop some of that oil. This effectively diffuses the scent and spreads it around the button automatically; no need to put a container down or hold it in your hand. It’s like your own personal bubble of fragrance that follows you everywhere.

The pins are shaped like rather thick buttons, so it’s actually easy to disguise them and pin them on any soft material, including clothes, hats, bags, and more. Each piece is carved out of a single block of aluminum and is handmade by skilled craftsmen pouring hours of attention and love into each and every single pin. The pins are then dyed using “alumite” which gives them their lustrous colors. This process results in variations in color depending on the production lot, which gives each pin somewhat of a unique visual personality, in turn.

Thanks to their discreet, button-shaped design, these pins can be just as subtle as the scents they diffuse. Whether you want to walk around smelling fragrant all day, want to always smell your favorite oils wherever you go, or make sure your apparel and accessories don’t pick up bad odors, these stylish pins will make your day. With just a drop or two of essential oil, the aroma diffuser pin will let you carry your own bubble of fragrance whenever and wherever you go.

This modular bracelet concept lets you choose how smart you want your jewelry to be

The popularity of the Apple Watch has finally given smartwatches their place in the market, making them understandable and even desirable. Of course, that doesn’t mean that everyone now wants a smartwatch, especially those who prefer mechanical watches or have different aesthetic tastes. Unfortunately, the majority of wrist-worn smart trackers seem to be made with sporty and rugged designs in mind. Given hardware requirements, that’s not exactly surprising, but that shouldn’t stop designers from imagining what’s possible. One such dream is reflected in this minimalist yet distinctive bracelet that throws all smart wearable design conventions out the window, offering a modular piece of jewelry that is smart in more ways than one.

Designers: Akasaki Vanhuyse, Astrid Vanhuyse

If you remove the actual time-keeping function of a smartwatch or a fitness tracker, all you’re really left with are the sensors that actually do the work of keeping tabs on different metrics of your health, directly or indirectly. A display isn’t even necessary since you can always check those figures on a smartphone. In fact, a display might even be detrimental because of the distractions it pushes your way or how it clashes with some fashion styles. Smartwatch designs are primarily constricted by hardware such as displays and big batteries, but what if you could be free of those restrictions?

That’s what the BEAD concept seems to be proposing, offering the same health and wellness monitoring functionalities but in a form that is a bit more universal and, at the same time, more personal. At the heart of the design are the beads, actually tiny cylinders that each hide a single sensor used to track a specific biometric like a pulse oximeter or an accelerometer. Each bead is an independent unit, free from displays or large batteries, performing a single task and performing it to perfection.

The idea is that you can combine any number of these beads on a string or wire to achieve the same collective effect as a fitness tracker. You wear it around your wrist like a bracelet, held together at the ends by magnets in the shape of half-spheres. The wire is white, plain, and unadorned, which puts a bigger visual focus on the beads. Those beads themselves carry a brushed metal finish that helps hide whatever scratches they may incur over time while also giving them unique characters.

You can add or remove as many of these modular beads as you need, only paying for the functionality you actually use. It also makes repairing broken beads easier, since you only need to replace that single piece. Admittedly, the industrial aesthetic might not appeal to everyone’s tastes, but the concept opens the possibility of using different, perhaps more stylish designs that will truly create a fusion of fashion and technology in a simple smart bracelet.

Top 21 Ways to Organize Your Jewelry and Keep Them Neat

Jewelry comes in different shapes, sizes, and lengths, so each piece needs to be stored properly, and sorted by category. Maintaining an organized system not only safeguards your jewelry items but also simplifies the process of identifying jewelry that requires cleaning and keeps a record of your collection. Also, this approach assists in preventing the loss or theft of jewelry. However, before arranging your jewelry, examine each piece, eliminate those damaged pieces, donate pieces you will not wear, and mend pieces that need repair. Adopt these suggestions for the secure and efficient storage of your jewelry.

Designer: Amie Freling-Brown

1. Jewelry Drawers

Dedicate a shallow drawer in your bedroom or closet specifically for jewelry storage that ensures convenient access to your pieces. Introduce compartments of various sizes that allow you to categorize different pieces of jewelry such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and other items into distinct slots. If the drawer is deep, you can double the storage capacity by placing an additional jewelry tray on top of the first one.

2. Wall-Mounted Jewelry Organizer

Designer: Keebofly

Purchase a wall-mounted jewelry organizer to install near your dressing table. Alternatively, you can transform a shallow cabinet with a velvet or fabric internal liner, incorporating hooks for suspending necklaces, dividers for earrings, tiny drawers, and sections for arranging bracelets and watches, as shown in this example.

3. Jewelry Organizer Trays

Designer: FanBeautyLife

Three-sided coin gets people thinking about ethical and sustainable banking

Sometimes, a coin is just a coin, something that you need to pay for things and to actually live. Sometimes, it can also be something that can make you think about other things, like how that item you’re holding can have an effect on things like society and maybe even the planet in general. Normally, coins and money are all about consumerism but it can also go beyond that. And also, it can look unique enough and pretty enough to warrant a conversation.

Designer: Bonka Circus

A communications agency in Belgium has helped local bank Vdk to create the world’s first three-sided coin that is not just heads and tail but also have another side to it. It’s not an actual coin but something that is more decorative and commemorative, although they did have the approval of the National Bank of Belgium and the European Central Bank. It has the one-euro design on one side of it but again, it doesn’t have any monetary value. But it does represent what the bank stands for which is to get Belgians thinking about choosing “for themselves, the region, and the planet”.

The result is pretty similar to an actual euro coin but with three sides to it, looking a bit similar to a ring although there’s no hole in which to wear it. The idea from the bank was to “triple your thinking” and this metaphor was translated into the coin. This was also a collaborative effort A 3D studio converted the design, milling experts made a mold, a gold and silversmith polished and gilded them in a gold bath then turned it into the three-sided creation we now see.

As part of vdk bank’s vision on sustainable and ethical banking, this coin will initially be given to bank employees. Supposedly, it will also be launched later this year in the French-speaking part of the country. It’s a pretty nice trinket to have and maybe also get people to start really thinking about how they do their banking and what effect it will have on the world around them.

Enso Silicone Space Rings: Celestial Digits

Enso makes a line of celestial themed rings printed with cool space patterns like the phases of the moon, a solar eclipse, and what I assume are some sort of alien glyphs. Maybe if we can decipher them, we’ll discover the secrets of interstellar travel! They’re made from comfortable silicone, so you don’t feel like the ring is suffocating your finger like a traditional wedding band (maybe I’m just projecting),

The rings are available in whole sizes 3 to 14 and, just like all Enso silicone products, come with a lifetime guarantee. So if you somehow do manage to destroy your ring, they’ll replace it. And, God willing, you’ll learn not to do whatever it was you were doing when you destroyed it in the first place because it’s probably dangerous. I just hope you still have your finger.

I actually bought a silicone wedding band to wear whenever I’m exercising or working in the garage, which is still in the package it came in because I haven’t been to the gym, and I don’t have a garage. I’m prepared, though; that’s the important thing.

Blood Bath and Skinny Dipping Rings Feature a Tiny Swimming Pool for Your Finger

Because high fashion is something I probably won’t ever understand, Studio Cult is selling rings that resemble tiny swimming pools. Available in Blood Bath and Skinny Dipping varieties, the $375 silver rings feature little resin-filled pools, complete with a ladder and diving board. And just $375 apiece? I only wish I had twelve fingers so I could wear more than ten.

I’m not sure about the Blood Bath version (it’s a little morbid for me), but I could see myself wearing the Skinny Dipping one and daydreaming about it being summer in the middle of winter. I keep telling my wife we should move somewhere warmer, but she keeps reminding me moving costs money, and I refuse to part with my Beanie Baby collection. They’re going to make a comeback; you just watch.

Different strokes for different folks, that’s my motto. Maybe you’ve been waiting your whole adult life for a little $375 swimming pool ring filled with blood. Who am I to judge? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I totally am, but who am I to? I’m just a guy waiting for them to make a hot tub version.

These elegant colored glass pieces are actually dyed using crushed stones

Just like with clothing, it’s also too easy to take for granted how glass-based products can actually be harmful to the environment in the long run. While glass itself is made from sustainable resources, the dyes used to give them vibrant colors are toxic to the environment. Even worse, colored glass can’t easily be recycled because of that mixture and because it’s nearly impossible to bring the material back to its natural transparent state. To make decorative glass truly sustainable, a new method of coloring glass needs to be developed, and one designer embarked on a journey of two years and hundreds of miles to come up with a solution that matches Haute Joaillerie in elegance but surpasses it in sustainability.

Designer: Salome Maarek

Glass is beautiful and useful in so many ways. It is used in furniture as functional parts of tables and shelves, and it is used in decorative pieces that require reflective or transparent surfaces and faceted forms. It can even be used in place of precious stones, and, of course, stained glass has been in use for centuries. As beautiful as it may be, colored glass apparently has a dirty secret. They are, unfortunately, toxic to the environment both in their production and disposal.

In searching for a better way to make beautiful glass, Jerusalem-based Salome Maarek looked to natural stones for the answer. The designer initially considered dyes from fruits and plants but realized that they had their own negative environmental impact as well. Stones, on the other hand, are in abundance, but Maarek didn’t just grab any stone. The stones are locally sourced, that is, they come from different regions in Israel. And to make the process environment-friendly from start to finish, the stones were gathered while journeying on foot or by bus.

The glass itself is made from typical ingredients like silica, sodium bicarbonate, dolomite, and the like, while crushed stone powder is mixed in to act as natural dye. The stones themselves come in various forms like potash, copper, sand, and clay, and this variety has resulted in different colors and textures. So far, the process has yielded colors such as moldavite green, turquoise blue, indigolite, amber-orange, and tourmaline yellow, all without the use of harmful chemicals and materials.

There are some considerations that make this sustainable way of making colored glass a bit more difficult than normal, harmful colored glass. For example, the glass was melted at only 1,200C for hours, which is a lower but more sustainable temperature. This meant that the glass had to be mold-blown rather than using a more common hand-blowing technique.

The result, however, is definitely worth all that work, with a beautiful piece of colored glass that can withstand pressure up to 5 tons. It can also survive temperature changes without cracking, unlike regular colored glass. And even if made with unconventional materials and methods, the result is glass that can be used as a more durable alternative to Haute Joaillerie, offering gorgeous pieces of gem-like glass that don’t show a single clue that they were colored using ordinary stone.

Aether Diamonds and Fine Jewellery are sustainable and magically made out of air

Aether Diamonds Made Out of Air

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend—that’s something many people believe, but others think it’s no longer valid for most ladies these days. That’s because as the earth ages, we are learning to become more responsible in caring for the environment. There is a call to become more sustainable for a better future, and so everything should be green, eco-efficient, and environment-friendly as much as possible.

Sustainable fashion is advancing, including most handcrafted products manufactured using fair and ethical processes. It also includes items made with eco-friendly production and packaging and made from organic materials. In addition, sustainable footwear and apparel have entered the sphere of eco-warriors, and soon, we’ll get to know more about sustainable jewelry.

Designer: Aether

Aether Diamonds

Technically, real jewels come from nature, but there is a move to develop sustainable jewelry. This means they should be made from sustainable materials or be made using sustainable processes. For those who love luxurious items yet are trying to be more conscious of the environment, there is the ironic question of how to keep buying diamonds when mining for the precious element brings environmental devastation and can severely damage the land.

People have been wondering if there is a sustainable alternative when it comes to diamonds. We have the answer: Aether—a company committed to creating carbon-negative diamonds from the air in the world. Green diamond lovers will probably approve of this because it gives them two things: eco-efficiency and diamonds.

Aether Diamond Jewelry

Can one be environment-friendly and love luxury at the same time? Thanks to lab-grown diamonds that are already an excellent alternative to naturally-mined diamonds, we think it’s possible. Aether’s diamonds are made out of the air, believe it or not–and the company has proven that there is plenty of room to improve when it comes to science and technology.

Aether is bringing together science, craftsmanship, and design. No need to spend much on diamonds gained from unethical mining. This business has undoubtedly moved further in the last few decades, making Earth healthier for the next generation. The air used isn’t just the regular air we breathe—it’s the polluted air that abounds that are being transformed into gems.  And so they’re not exactly the kind of expensive diamonds that may cost millions but they are just as beautiful– something that can be the perfect alternative.

Aether Diamond Jewellery

Aether has begun shipping the first batch of orders of diamonds since 2021 after raising about $18 million in funding. By 2022, production is expected to ramp up and perhaps exceed the previous sales. Diamonds made from the air make for a sustainable fine jewelry collection. There is no more guilt when buying from Aether because it’s a synthetic diamond.

How is an Aether diamond made? It goes through four simple steps starting with CO2 capture through a unique technology then moving to hydrocarbon synthesis. Diamond is then “grown” in specialized chemical vapor deposition reactors. Once diamonds are developed, jewelry experts then do things like cut, polish, and set into beautiful jewelry pieces.

The startup is committing to continue to mix sustainability with design and aesthetics. Knowing how the company makes these diamonds, sans mining, child labor, and poor labor conditions make Aether an attractive company. We know it respects not only the environment but also humans. This is something we need this century during all the global challenges, climate change, and humanitarian efforts.

Aether CEO Ryan Shearman said: “Amid global climate change and all of the other challenges 2020 has brought with it, we believe there is currently a great opportunity for high-minded doers to step in and help shape the future. Now more than ever, forces for true and lasting change are coalescing to transform our world into one where massive positive advancements for humanity and the planet are truly possible.” Aether aims to bring change and commits to serve as a “beacon for integrity and transparency in the diamond industry, where so many others have fallen short on that promise to consumers.”

What Aether brings to the table are aplenty—no water is wasted, there is no dirty energy, and no part of earth is uprooted. Another benefit is cleaner air as the diamonds remove the carbon dioxide and clean up the atmosphere. The people behind Aether are said to “make decisions with the wellbeing of life on earth in mind.” The company does not support any depletion of the natural resources, displacement of indigenous people, unfair working conditions, or child labor.

14K Gold and Cubic Zirconia Michael Myers Pendant: Stabbing in Style

What better way to express your fandom for the Halloween franchise than with this Michael Myers 14K gold plated and cubic zirconia pendant? I can actually think of a lot of ways, but that isn’t going to stop me from dropping $650 on this piece from Aporro. I can already close my eyes and hear my wife yelling about the credit card charge.

Did you know the original Michael Myers mask was created by Halloween’s production designer Tommy Lee Wallace using a $1.98 Star Trek Captain Kirk mask he purchased from a costume shop on Hollywood Boulevard and modified by widened the eye holes and spray-painting the flesh a bluish-white? Because that’s true. The more you know!

Unlike the original, this particular piece is brass with a 14k gold plating and a plethora of white and black cubic zirconia adorning Michael’s face. It measures 90mm x 70mm (3.5″ x 2.7″) and weighs 198g. Obviously, it would be far better as a full-size mask I could wear while cutting the grass to let my neighbors know my yard is not one to let their dogs poop in without picking it up.

This YouTuber made a Green Lantern Ring out of an actual meteorite rock

Patrick Adair isn’t your regular silversmith. In his own words, he makes rings “to stand out, not fit in”, and is known to stray away from common elements like gold, silver, or platinum. Instead, Adair’s jewelry is crafted from things like carbon fiber, damascus steel, titanium, a variety of highly eye-catching gemstones, and in this instance, an actual meteorite. While Adair’s methods, materials, and designs definitely set him apart, he even documents his ring-making processes on YouTube for his little-short-of-a-million fans. The video above remains one of my favorites, and has garnered nearly 5 million views. In it, Adair builds a lifelike replica of Green Lantern’s power ring using a block of meteorite rock, and an Emerald fitted into it. The result is nothing short of stunning, although the two-part video should truly fascinate any DIYers interested in the ring-making process.

The ring was pre-ordered by a client who sent Adair a replica of the Green Lantern ring for reference. Making the necessary measurements and design considerations, Adair started by water-jet cutting a piece out of a block of meteorite, before drawing the profiles of the design details on it. A few details (like straight lines, etc) were carved out using a milling machine, while other curved lines and profiles were hand-carved using a sanding disc and drills.

Once the entire ring was carved out of the meteorite rock, deburred, and polished to make it smooth and glossy, Adair proceeded to etch the ring by dunking it in an acid bath. The etching would reveal the meteorite rock’s ‘windsman pattern’, caused by the iron-nickel crystals forming a long structure. The etching process affects all the metals in the meteorite differently, resulting in the unique crisscross pattern that makes the ring look so otherworldly. Finally, an emerald gem was fitted in the top to complete the project before being handed over to the customer. Adair’s meteorite rings can go north of a grand, and I’m sure this one didn’t come cheap (considering he actually bought a CNC milling machine for this) but then again, people spend millions on NFTs and those things aren’t even real…
