It isn’t everyday that one gets the opportunity to meet Philippe Starck, let alone work with him! The Parisian all-round designer is probably one of the best known names in the industry. Having formed his studio ‘Starck’ in 1970, Philippe worked on a massive variety of projects spanning categories like architecture, furniture design, consumer goods, luxury goods, packaging, and even dabbling with occasional transportation design projects. Philippe has also been lauded for factoring in his philosophy of Democratic Design into his work. Starck has been extremely vocal of his avoidance of unethical projects such as arms, alcohol, tobacco, oil and religion. He has also always implements ethical and ecological aspects into all of his creations but he also loves to inject fun into his designs and the combination of these three elements are always poetic, rebellious and definitely beautiful. His studio, Starck Network Agency, is looking to hire a Junior Interior Architect who shares these views along with a passion for design and learning.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The STARCK agency develops projects in France, the Middle East, the USA and Brazil. In the continuity of our development, we are looking for a Junior Interior Designer Hotel Restaurant H / F.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• In collaboration with a senior project manager who will manage and supervise you
• You will be involved in global hotel projects
• You will be in charge of global design projects including hotels and restaurants in France and abroad (Sketches, APS, APD, DCE) as well as the application of architectural and development concepts, in liaison with the architect and external service providers, in terms of coordination / quality and compliance with Starck specifications

REQUIREMENTS

Training school of interior architecture (Ecole bleue, ENSAAMA, Ecole Boulle, Camondo ou Ensad,…) or a similar architecture school. You have at least 2 years of experience on similar functions, imperatively in a hotel and restaurant universe. You have a successful experience in space and furniture design.

You are fluent in English (necessary).

You have a real affinity with the hospitality environment, an excellent graphic expression and you master the software such as Autocad LT, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup and the Office Pack. Relational and organizational skills, responsiveness, proven creative sense and good management of priorities are essential to succeed in the job.

As part of your missions, travel will be expected.

THE OPPORTUNITY

OXO is hiring a Jr. Industrial Designer who will play a key role in supporting the business in the development of the industrial design through the aesthetics, ergonomics and user experience of the OXO brand.

This highly creative individual should be able to think outside the box while understanding the constraints of design. Applying thoughtful and strategic thinking through the design process while being able to take constructive feedback and work collaboratively.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop new products through strategic thinking and process.
• Assess user experience associated with ergonomics, user logic and interaction of the product.
• Ideate product aesthetics associated with form, color and design language.
• Identify and problem solve end user needs through rigorous user testing.
• Apply research and insights to design; ensuring functionality, user experience and aesthetics are on brand to OXO’s core philosophy – universal design.
• Define color solutions in a purposeful and strategic manner which aligns with the business goals.
• Design within the constraints of manufacturing and cost.
• Align with engineering through all stages of design development.
• Evaluate and assess marketplace and competition.
• Stay current on trends; color, materials, culture that help drive product design.
• Apply relevant research and insights to design goals.

REQUIREMENTS

• 4-year Industrial Design degree.
• Must have 1-3 years of relevant Industrial design experience designing for manufactured consumer goods.
• Solid Works proficient – Must be able to build complex shapes and forms.
• Keyshot proficient.
• Adobe Photoshop and illustrator proficient.
• Strong sketching skills or ability to communicate design intent effectively and quickly.
• Previous exposure to product manufacturing; plastics and injection molded part design preferable.
• Experience working in the consumer-goods realm preferable.
• Effective project management, collaboration and communication abilities.
• Practical hands-on general workshop skills (hand-tools, power-tools, saws, drill-presses, grinders, etc.).
• Demonstrated hands-on design and new product development experience in a professional product design environment.
• Demonstrates strong understanding of aesthetics, design function, and Human factors.
• Ability to articulate subjective ideas in a meaningful and logical manner.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others.
