TORRAS UPRO Ostand Super Shockproof Shield Mate: Protection and Innovation in Tandem

The iPhone 15 series just went live with beautiful new colors and new materials, which will make you want to make sure they’re well protected even more. Phone cases are a dime a dozen, especially for iPhones, but few are able to do their job while still preserving the elegance of the iPhone’s innate design. Even fewer are able to offer value beyond just protection, making them a single-trick pony at best.

The TORRAS UPRO Ostand SS ShieldMate, short for “Super Shockproof,” definitely stands apart from the crowd, pun totally intended. The protective case was meticulously designed to let the iPhone’s design shine through its clear surface while still offering unparalleled protection when, not if, accidents happen, especially when dropping the phone from any height or angle. The high-durability TPU material alone already absorbs 98% of the shock, but it has another trick up its sleeve to add even more protection to the phone and confidence to users.

iPhone 15 Pro Max

Inspired by the air cushion found in many shoes, the TORRAS UPRO Ostand SS ShieldMate utilizes air-filled bumpers around the edges of the case to bounce back external forces from drops and bumps. SGS-certified for 12-foot drop tests, the case is unmatched in offering protection for your precious new iPhone 15. And that’s without making the phone look like a tank heading out for war, maintaining the iPhone 15’s slim profile, and letting its true colors catch the eye of any beholder.

But wait, there’s more! The Ostand line of cases takes its name from the innovative O-shaped ring, a versatile kickstand that offers three functions in one design. The built-in kickstand lets you prop up the iPhone 15 on any flat surface, whether vertically or horizontally, to make short work of video calls and video binges. The MagSafe-compatible ring also lets you wirelessly charge the phone without having to take off the UPRO case, attach MagSafe accessories, or stick the phone to car chargers or even refrigerator doors. Finally, that O-ring lets you hold the phone securely with one hand, similar to other ring attachments but without the awkward bulk that gets in your way.

TORRAS UPRO Ostand R: 360-degree Versatility

If the compact UPRO Ostand SS still feels a bit too much, TORRAS has another option that doesn’t skimp on protection while still offering impressive flexibility of functions. The TORRAS UPRO Ostand R, now available for the iPhone 15 Pro line, brings an extra slim protective case that still boasts SGS and RoHS certifications for drops from a height of 12ft. That’s thanks to the ShockMAT technology that brings full-body protection not just against drops but also against scratches. All these while keeping the phone in your pocket as close to the original thin profile of the iPhone 15 Pro.

Its defining feature, however, is its innovative magnetic ring that functions as a kickstand and holder, similar to the new UPRO Ostand SS. What makes it different, however, is its ability to rotate 360 to any position you want, allowing it to be more flexible and more versatile in the positioning of the phone. The kickstand itself can be set to almost any angle, providing limitless ways to prop up the iPhone 15 Pro for content consumption or creation.

That O-ring uses powerful neodymium magnets so attaching to compatible surfaces is lightning fast. Of course, it’s compatible with MagSafe technology, so chargers and accessories are fully supported without having to take off the case and expose your iPhone to harm. Whether you’re taking an unplanned business call outdoors, shooting your latest social media clip, or simply lounging in bed to watch your favorite TV series, the TORRAS UPRO Ostand SS and Ostand R bring unmatched protection and versatility that levels up your iPhone 15 game.

This shape-shifting kick scooter transforms into electric bicycle and vice versa

Commuting in crowded spaces demands a swift and agile ride that’s easy to store when not needed. A city bicycle, or even better a kick scooter is the best option for an urban lifestyle. If these commuters are high on style and function while not overcomplicating things, it’s the red cherry on top.

When it comes to personal commuters, less is more and vice versa too. So, what if you get the perfect combination of an electric bicycle and a kick scooter in one? To me, that sounds like the ideal product for city exploration or simply going from one block to the other in quick time.

Designer: Ugly Duckling

Having come across countless kick scooters with impressive design and functions, this one is a bar above the rest for its dual utility and compact design. Since I’m a big fan of shape-shifting automotive designs, this one has really impressed me beyond comprehension. Christened the Popup Scooter, the two-wheeled electric bicycle transforms into a chick kick scooter, and the other way around. This gives the rider (and his/her family and buddies) the option to choose the configuration depending on the particular needs.

The smooth transformation happens courtesy of the hydraulic cylinder which in normal bicycles is used to adjust the ride height. This hydraulic mechanism is capable enough to lift an adult person, so, lifting and lowering the ride’s body shouldn’t be a problem at all. At the core level, the concept is not just another blueprint that looks good on paper but falls flat on its face when it comes to creating the actual prototype or even a production model.

As per the designer, the future will be dominated by one-person mobility, and to cater to the demands of either sporty driving or comfortable riding experience, design is going to be a challenge. The Popup Scooter has the potential to satiate everyone’s needs since it can evolve into a two-wheeler no one knew existed, but everybody would want in their garage.

This height adjustable kickstand scooter with fingerprint recognition is a must have for 2021!

Kick scooters come in all shapes and sizes – some are compact while others are lightweight. Finding a scooter that has both these features is a rarity, and to top it off, if there are other practical additions (that are so 2021 worthy), then it’s a hard one to give a miss. This electric kick scooter designed by Jaekyoung Oh is ideal for standing or sitting commute – giving riders the freedom to choose one as and when required. The shift can be done in under a minute by pushing and pulling the lever using the lock holder for the ultimate convenience of riding without missing out on the fun element.

Dubbed the A R C _ Electric kickboard, this minimal kick scooter’s design has a very modern approach – keeping in mind practicality of use. Things like the foot support can be toggled depending on the sitting position by simply pressing lightly with the feet. To ensure no one has unwanted access to your ride, it comes with a fingerprint recognition system with intelligent security built into the display that also shows the vital telemetry like the level of charge, real-time speed, and navigation details. As for the looks, the kick scooter comes in a very cool black and silver metal combo for the overall body design, well complemented by the hip yellow-red on the handlebar to spice up things for urban users.

The simplicity of this kick scooter’s design is what makes it so desirable – ideal for an urban lad who’s looking for a convenient commuter powered by pure electric energy. Jaekyoung has actually managed to understand what a user truly wants in their kick scooter, and this design a testament to that fact!

This transforming automotive design takes 3 forms – e-bicycle + e-scooter + e-kickboard, giving mobility to the entire family!

Simplicity is the name of the game these days as the idea of minimalism is getting popular by the day. So why not have two-wheels that can deliver that promise of a minimalistic approach for the urban commute? A simple frame design that can be easily converted into a utility e-bicycle, e-scooter, or even better, an e-kickboard. South Korea based mobility designer Jung Soo Lee has mustered up the niche idea of a two-wheeled commuter for the whole family inspired by the simple line, and that’s the reason she likes to call it the One Line.

The idea is darn simple – a line is the mainframe of the commute, and depending on who’s going to use it, One Line can adapt to that form. It can be a classic Korean bicycle with a basket (having integrated light) to keep the groceries you just bought from the supermarket or fresh flowers for your lover. Then in another avatar, it can take the shape of an electric scooter for faster commuting from one place to the other. One scenario for usage is the e-kickboard, wherein the line frame design now functions as the platform for standing. For the first two iterations, the battery is placed under the seat with LED indicators displaying the remaining battery levels.

Unfortunately, Jung Soo only gives a glimpse into the design of the e-bicycle configuration and I personally would have loved to see it morph into an e-kickstand or an e-scooter. Even for the e-bicycle design, there are few things that are unclear. There’s isn’t any visible braking handle or brake mechanism, or it can be assumed, Jung envisions this one to have a braking mechanism similar to that of old school bikes – you just push back the pedals to achieve the resistance to stop. The chain stay isn’t visible either and it has to be said that the chain or the belt drive is neatly disguised in the design which in itself is a design victory of sorts.

That said, the concept looks absolutely gorgeous and practically feasible to create. Only if we could have more insight into its functioning or the other two configurations that are left for our imagination – this would have been a perfect project to put more light on!

A kickstand is the most interesting feature on Acer’s new 2-in-1

Of all the new Switch laptops and convertibles that Acer unveiled today, the most eye-catching is the Switch 5. It's a slick 12-inch Windows 10 hybrid with what the company calls an "auto-retractable" kickstand that lets you adjust the angle at which...

The Photo-Friendly Kickstand!

I love almost anything animal-inspired and so do the designers at Zoo Gear! The team was formed from an appreciation for design and cycling, and they’ve started a collection of wildlife-inspired bicycle accessories. The first in the series is called Pelephant – a kickstand of sorts that positions the bike perfectly upright and balanced rather than leaning. But why?! Because it’s perfect for photography and cyclists love to take pics of their beloved bikes! Many riders will find a coke can or rock to prop up their bike, but now they can get the perfect shot with just one flip of the Pelephant kickstand!

Take a Load off with a Human Kickstand

It’s tough being a human. All of that standing around and bearing your own weight can be tiring. What’s a poor old meatsack to do? Well, you can get the Mogo. This stick is basically a kickstand for your butt, so that you can take a load off whenever it gets to be too much.

mogo kickstand

This monopod props you up whenever you need a break from walking or standing and features telescoping sections that extend from 18″-37″. It has a fiberglass reinforced seat, and a reversible rubber base that switches from hard surfaces to soft for when you are on either turf or sand. It’s designed to support up to 200 pounds.

It’s great for long lines or just, you know, being lazy. It sells for $80(USD) over at the Focal Store, and should be released this September.

Microsoft airs its first Surface tablet ad, focuses on keyboard, kickstand and… dancers?

Microsoft airs its fist Surface tablet ad, focuses on keyboard, kickstand and dancers

Considering how interested we are in trying out Microsoft's new Surface Windows 8 tablets, it turns out we should've been practicing the art of dance instead of blogging. The first TV spot for the tablets aired tonight during Dancing with the Stars, fitting, since it featured an entire troupe of dancers and was directed by Jon Chu, best known for his work on flicks like the Step Up series and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. While it didn't expose any deep details about the hardware, its potential pricetag or the software running on it, it appears Microsoft will separate itself from the pack based on that slick Touch Cover, Type Cover and kickstand. At the end it teases "coming 10/26" and promises a future behind the scenes video from the ad, but that's it. Check out the minute-long spot itself embedded after the break and let us know if you spot any new information about the slate.

RIM applies for patent on tablet with concealable keyboard, keeps your QWERTY love a secret

RIM applies for patent on tablet with concealable keyboard, keep your laptop a secret

RIM just can't quit keyboards, and neither can many of its fans: even the BlackBerry PlayBook has an official Mini Keyboard case. It almost shouldn't be a surprise, then, that the company is applying for a patent on a tablet design with a stealthy keyboard built-in. The layout hides a full, hinge-attached QWERTY keyboard from critics (and accidental key presses) underneath a back-mounted cover. When an owner's urge to use physical buttons becomes overwhelming, the keyboard swings into action and relies on the cover as a kickstand. It's a clever solution to lugging around a separate keyboard or specialized case, but it's hard to say if RIM will implement what it's learning into a finished product -- the firm isn't in the best position to experiment with new tablet concepts, and we've already seen a few imminent solutions to the concealed keyboard problem from other vendors. That said, the patent does show that the folks in Waterloo would like to keep a love of keyboards alive in the tablet era, even if it requires some subterfuge.

TidyTilt Stand: The Smart Cover for iPhones

Have you ever wanted to mount your  iPhone on your fridge? Or shrink your Smart Cover to work with your iPhone? Now you can do both thanks to TidyTilt. The stand part of this accessory is interesting, but what I find the most novel are that the magnets of the cover are strong enough so that you can mount your iPhone onto any magnetically-responsive surface.

It’s a multi-purpose cover that doubles as a kickstand, earphone cord manager, and iPhone mount. It’s definitely an interesting accessory, though it will undoubtedly interfere with your favorite case.

TidyTilt was part of a successful Kickstarter campaign, and is now available in stores for iPhone 4 and 4S. It sells from TT Design Labs for $29.95(USD) in six different colors. It’s also available on Amazon and other online retailers.
