Maintaining a neat and tidy kitchen comes in pretty handy when you’re cooking, and you actually know where everything is! Or else a therapeutic cooking session can turn into a mini-mental breakdown. And to help you keep your kitchen organized and spick and span, we’ve curated a collection of super handy storage products. From a storage system that operates with suction and can be used on any surface to a smart food storage device, these innovative kitchen organizers are the ideal storage solutions that your kitchen needs! Utilize them to organize your kitchen in a way that would make Marie Kondo proud!

If Tupperware completely revolutionized how we stored food in rigid containers, the Silicone Zip Top completely revolutionizes how we store… period. The flexible design of the Silicone Zip Top comes with a flat base, allowing it to stand on tables and other surfaces, and has the signature zip-to-seal band running across the top. The thick silicone construction and reliable zip/clip mechanism at the top make it much more secure than regular zip-lock bags, and the fact that it doesn’t come without a lid (which just might get lost) gives it an edge over plastic containers. The platinum silicone used to build the Silicone Zip Top bags make them infinitely reusable, practically indestructible, unstainable too, impervious to heat or cold, dishwashable, and most importantly, food-grade.

Let your OCD run wild with the SOUL Kitchen by SVOYA Studio! This modular design is an organizer’s wet dream. It allows for an open kitchen layout with detachable units that anyone can transform to their liking. A variety of unique shelving units can be combined in any order to hold glasses, organize dinnerware, store wine, and more. Better yet, as your needs and style change over time, so can your kitchen! “The design of SOUL Kitchen operates on the principle of “nothing more” without sacrificing on functionality. All within a single kitchen, one can create a combination of units or separate them into groups according to the preference of each family member. With this total kitchen concept, individuality can be maximized. Since starting from a clean slate is always possible, one can also change the spatial interpretation of the kitchen as his or her life philosophy evolves,” explained SVOYA Studio.

Gabriel Steinmann created P0 (pronounced pio like the letter and number) which stands for ‘project zero’  – a storage and shopping solution for food that aims to reduce consumption emissions. P0 helps us to switch to and maintain a plant-based diet and reduce the amount of food waste. The design blends organic and sustainable materials with an earthy aesthetic to invoke warmth and a more personal relationship with the items we use. Its ceramic body and textile lining help encourage a deeper appreciation for the food we consume and make us more aware of how much food we actually need to minimize wasting it. It is also a practical and attractive utensil in your kitchen – “a symbol of change, of becoming a little bit more human,” as rightly described by Steinmann.

Building on a concept that’s done the rounds for quite a while now (and has even seen success in 2008 at the Electrolux Design Lab), Samsung’s Cube Refrigerator takes a modular approach to cold-preservation. Quite like the Flatshare Fridge that secured the winning position at the Electrolux Design Lab more than a decade ago, Samsung’s Cube fridge is stackable and allows you to add carious units together to create the fridge of your choice. With its minimal styling, the Cube can be placed anywhere, from your kitchen countertop, to even right beside your couch in the living room, or even in your workshop, where you’d possibly like to keep a couple of brewski’s to sip on when you’re working on your DIY projects.

There is a Korean practice of covering food with a cloth (Sang bo) which has been a tradition for centuries and has worked well – a ramie or silk fabric covering keeps it ventilated in the summers while a thicker fabric keeps it insulated in the winters. Inspired by this, the Mother’s Heart was designed to keep food fresh and retain its original nutrient quality. It is a simple device that is crafted like a dome food covering and an accompanying base plate. The covering has a dial on top and that lets you adjust the settings based on the food you’ve cooked. You can select between refrigeration or warmth and there is a timer feature that lets you select for how long you want to keep it running.

Slock’s designer, Minki Kim, viewed the area from a different viewpoint and identified that common food storage systems focused primarily on functionality and overlooked the usability, making the containers difficult to carry around, especially multiple at a time. Slock’s design allows three containers to be carried using a curved, comfortable handle. When the user arrives at the table, the rather clever, sliding structure allows the three containers to lie horizontally on the table with ease, avoiding accidents and unwanted spillages. The combination of curved glass, unusual round form, and pared-back color options allow for Slock to seamlessly integrate into the kitchen’s interior décor.

Created by Jorge Álvarez, with NOS Design, Wholeder’s storage system uses suction so that it can optimize storage space in every room (plus it has a pretty clever-sounding name too). The suctioned lid allows for easy application on any wall or flat surface, making it functional in not just the kitchen, but practically any room. Whatever might need to be stowed away for later use can be stored with Wholeder. These minuscule storage bins also work for traveling as they come in varying sizes in order to store the ideal amount of anything you like. Something to keep in mind about storage systems is that they still have to be maintained. Silverware trays easily fill up with food crumbs and mason jars should be sanitized when used to store hygienic products.

Meet the Chef Caddy. It is to a chef what a well-organized CD rack is to a deejay. Designed to be modular, the Chef Caddy holds spices, curry-pastes, pre-mixes, dried herbs, seasonings, and oils in its magnetic body that allows you to snap elements together. Designed by Casey Moulton, a speed-chef in his own right, Chef Caddy uses a system he developed years ago, to make food preparation blitzing-fast by simply organizing your seasoning by cuisine. Clubbing seasonings and oils into cuisines like French, Thai, Mexican, Indian, or Italian, Casey found it was much easier to sift through spices without having to dig around in a cluttered spice rack for that one badly labeled bottle.

This modular kit for building and customizing bottles allows you to use multiple members to create storage that suits your needs. With different modules that thread/screw into one another, you can build long or short bottles, and even bottles with divisions in them, giving you the ability to practically create the container you need from the ground up. The Stackup containers come with threading on both ends, allowing multiple modules to fasten to each other. Modules come in different colors, allowing you to create a colorful food-storage totem-pole of your choice, and some modules come with bases while others don’t, letting you either create a stacked set of containers, or an extendable single container, depending on what you’re storing.

Designed for Hans Thyge and Co, Hexagon is a modular shelving unit inspired by one of my favorite geometric shapes, you guessed it…the Hexagon! Hexagon is a system of organizers that is mounted upon a magnetic rail. Created entirely from metal and accompanied by multiple organizers in various shapes and colors, the layout can be customized according to your personal preference and wherever you decide to position it! Placed in the kitchen, it becomes a perfect vestibule for kitchen storage. The hooks can be used for holding dish towels and spatulas, whereas the magnetized panels can be used for storing knives.

Kitchen Appliances that will transform you from a home cook to a MasterChef: Part 2

There’s one skill that has been successfully added to my repertoire of skills during this pandemic – and it is cooking! From a chore that I completely avoided, cooking has now become a therapeutic activity for me. I discovered an inner chef within me while baking banana bread, and concocting some Dalgona coffee! I do believe many other hidden chefs had a similar awakening as me during this pandemic. To encourage and motivate all the inner chefs within us, we’ve curated a collection of kitchen appliances that promise to transform cooking from a Herculean feat to an enjoyable and fun process! These products can reduce your prep time in half, make the little cooking tasks much easier, and help you with tedious and complicated techniques. They make cooking effortless and easy. Enjoy!

Turner designed Carnerie – a conceptual device that will let you grow your own meat in the future! Cultured meat is the process of growing meat from cells extracted from animals. Many experts believe that cultured meat offers us the opportunity to produce meat with significantly reduced environmental impacts and without slaughtering animals. The technology is being rapidly developed across the world and is beginning to be introduced to some high-end restaurants but there has been discussion about whether one day we may be able to grow our own meat from animal cells in our own kitchens. Carnerie is a ‘grow your own meat’ device for around twenty years in the future. It is controlled by an app, whereby the user is able to order cell capsules from local farms in order to grow a variety of different types of meat.

Food One was designed for young people living in cities who don’t have either the time or skill set for cooking multiple meals throughout the day. Beginning early 2020, the pandemic’s quarantine orders forced many of us out of restaurant booths and into our kitchens to cook our own meals. Fully integrated with smart technology, Food One operates as a classic smart assistant, with Bluetooth connectivity and app compatibility to connect to your smartphone or other smart devices. After connecting to Food One’s app, users can choose from a long list of available recipes suitable for cooking with the smart wok. Alternatively, those who enjoy cooking can upload their own recipes to Food One’s app for others to learn and follow.

Designed by Designer Dot, BO-ON is more than just your ordinary rice cooker! This multifunctional electric rice cooker features a double-layered cauldron, so the rice tastes as if it were cooked in a traditional iron pot. The cooker can also be used to prepare frozen dumplings and other ready-to-eat food items. This is due to a hot plate on the top section of the rice cooker. An accompanying app alerts you when your food is ready, so your food isn’t left stale and forgotten in the appliance.

The Open Suite Cooker Hood by Fabrizio Crisa for Elica is designed to keep in mind modern styling requirements and, most of all, modularity to bring out the most in everyday practical usage. The Open Suite merges a hood, a large LED light panel, modular shelving units along with a voice assistant integration that provides feedback on filter maintenance and overall system management. The unit is tailored for all your modern needs – the modular structure of the hood brings flexibility in how you actually want to set up the function and complement it with the visual appeal. This freedom comes courtesy of the 80 cm/160 cm modules that join in endless configurations depending on the user’s requirements and personal taste.

The Dreamfarm Chopula Chopping Sit Up Spatula is a handy tool that can be used to flip and chop food! The flexible product allows you to flip pancakes, steaks, and more with ease. You can then use Chopula itself to chop or slice through those very pancakes and steaks. The multi-curved design of its head reaches the trickiest corners of the pan without any tussle. Available in a variety of color options, this thin little tool is definitely niftier and mightier than it seems!

Brava’s Purelight Countertop Oven uses light as an energy source to cook delicious food at home. Employing the proprietary Pure Light Technology, this oven reaches 500 Fahrenheit in less than a second! The Pure Light Lamps ensure that the food is cooked by utilizing lesser energy than you would need to even preheat a traditional oven. Equipped with multiple zones, the oven can cook different food items at different temperatures. This is the future of ovens!

We need to have the next refrigerator evolution in the form of Venine – a design conceptualized by industrial designer You-jin Syn. The idea is simple – preserve the core function of the refrigerator – but with the infusion of a design overhaul and added features. The motive is to make it convenient for a single-person household in the smallest footprint possible without compromising on the inherent function of the appliance. Syn’s concept germinates from the need for young apartment dwellers to have a smart and convenient way to gulp down quick meals without much fuzz. Rather than taking all the eatables out of the refrigerator and onto the dining table, Venine brings the possibility of dining on the refrigerator counter.

This kitchen appliance is for the Star Wars fans! The Star Wars Two Slice Stormtrooper Toaster looks exactly like a Stormtrooper. You can slide in two pieces of bread into the toaster, or even buns, waffles, English muffins, and pastries. Once toasted, the food will pop out with the Galactic Empire logo directly on it. Pretty cool, no? This one is a must-have for sci-fi lovers.

The Miso Robotics Flippy Robot is the kitchen assistant we all need! It’s especially handy if you own a commercial kitchen, and need that extra help. The robot can work for 100,000 hours continuously. Once it has been programmed, the AI assistant works automatically by itself, without requiring any assistance or help from you. Although, you can always control the robot and customize its setting via its control screen. I, for one, would love to have a cooking assistant, but I do believe the Miso Robotics Flippy Robot would be more ideal for large-scale kitchens!

The uniquely flexible Trebonn Roll mat is made of two parts. Individual vertical strips made from a knife-friendly polymer, connected together by a flexible, food-grade, dishwasher-friendly silicone mat. The silicone is responsible for the mat’s hinges, and magnetic closure at one end lets you snap the mat shut in place. Open it out and the mat unfolds to reveal a flat cutting surface… just make sure your knife-work isn’t parallel to the silicone hinges (you don’t want to accidentally cut the hinges through and through). Once you’re done cutting and chopping, the mat’s flexible design makes it easy to collect all your chopped bits and pour them into your crockpot, saucepan, skillet, or mixing bowl.

Kitchen appliances that promise to make your morning routine fun, fast, and hassle-free!

Mornings are probably the most hectic part of our daily routine! You have to get up, dress up, make breakfast for yourself (or others if you don’t live in a single-person household), prep your meals for the day, and basically, ensure your day kickstarts on an efficient and smooth note. The most important meal of the day is breakfast, and honestly, it’s the meal I’m the laziest and least enthusiastic to prepare. I’ll just grab a cup of coffee from my fav barista, thank you very much! However, I am making more efforts to ensure I have a healthy and balanced breakfast every morning, and a set of handy kitchen appliances that perfectly meet my breakfast requirements make my mornings much easier! So, here are a collection of nifty kitchen gadgets that are sure to help you start off your morning in the most fun, hassle-free and efficient manner possible.

This conceptual coffee machine is very unlike the espresso makers in the market and it’s the aesthetics that set it apart. It is a dream machine for people who love coffee and space exploration equally (like me!). The compact capsule shape makes it look like a moon lander for your counter and is obviously powered by caffeine which is only the second most powerful fuel after rocket fuel! The designer’s main focus was to retain some of the rawness and the mechanical steampunk look of the traditional Italian espresso makes while maintaining a clean shape that adds character to the product. There is a tubular water/steam container at the back which I feel can be extended down for added support for the appliance. There is also another container for your beans which I assume leads to a small grinder mechanism inside so you only get the freshest cup of joe each time. Overall, the shape is very unique and combines the nostalgic steampunk elements with clean, smooth curves for a balanced modern machine.

Designed by Difei Wang of Hisense Industrial Design Center, the Art Fresh Bar refrigerator is the first in a handsome series that aims to mimic the look of traditional furniture pieces. In fact, it’s not even intended to be placed in your kitchen. Rather, its ultra-thin profile and fine finishes are designed to blend in with your living room, giving you and the rest of the family easy access to all sorts of snacks, beverages, and one-off items like wine and fruit. With an anticipated selection of various finishes and colors as well as customizable compartments, there’s sure to be one to satisfy any taste or use.

Mitsubishi’s Bread Oven is in a league of its own with a promise to serve you ‘the perfect toast’. Mimicking a waffle maker, the toaster looks like it’s come straight out of the ’80s with its retro-esque veneer brown look. Built with a sealed thermal-insulated structure, it can toast your bread without releasing any moisture, ensuring the bread is soft, fluffy, and far from being dry. The metal box is equipped with two plates that can go up to temperatures as high as 500 degrees Fahrenheit. These plates seal the slice of bread, transferring heat to it, and in turn make magic. The electric toaster is amped with four cooking settings; Toast, Frozen Toast, Topping, and French Toast. Select your cooking setting, along with the thickness of your bread (options are 30 mm/1.1″, 24 mm/0.9″, 20 mm/0.7″, and 15 mm/0.5″) and you’re almost good to go!

Made from heat-resistant and food-safe plastic, the Egguins are an innovative way to store, boil, or serve eggs. The hollow penguin shape allows you to slide eggs (both small and large) into it, completing it visually and making it look like a flock of Emperor Penguins ready to dash right into the water (the visual metaphor of connecting the egg, the bird, and the water is just perfect)! Immerse the Egguins into a saucepan of boiling water using the handle above, and just lift them out when you’re done boiling them to the softness or hardness of your choice. More of an omelet or a sunny-side-up kind of guy? You can use the Egguins to innovatively (and adorably) store your eggs in your fridge. Penguins do enjoy the cold, don’t they?

Shaped like a stainless steel handbag, Jacqueline is an electric tea kettle that comes with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to monitor and set the perfect heating conditions for boiling water. Unlike typical electric tea kettles that require just a measly flip of a switch, Jacqueline is laden with smart technology to assure users that a flavorful, hot cup of tea is always just a few moments away. Ditching the light switch, for a smart handle, Jacqueline comes with an interactive, digital display screen that indicates each brew’s water temperature and level as well as a signal that shows whether or not the kettle’s been turned on. In addition to this display screen, Bugatti boasts that Jacqueline can pair with your smartphone or tablet through Bluetooth, allowing users to operate Jacqueline from a distance through Bugatti’s accompanying app, Bugatti B Chef. Whether you’re reading for hours on end in bed or heading home from a day spent in the cold, with Jacqueline a hot cup of tea can always be waiting for you.

Designed with flexible catering in mind, Multiplug brings a new and welcomed element to social dining! Whilst one day we might just be cooking for ourselves and our partner, the next may see the entire family coming together for an occasion, at which point just the one hot plate doesn’t stretch very far! Multipleplug’s flexible design allows for up to five of the devices to be connected together at any one time! Daisy-chaining the hotplates means that the food is within reaching distance of everyone on the table… perfect for those large social gatherings that we love!

Foods spoil/age either by being exposed to bacteria in the air or by oxidizing in the presence of, well, oxygen. By eliminating air out of the equation, the Freshy! vacuum lids help significantly slow that process down. The Freshy! vacuum lids are a set of universally fitting circular lids that turn any regular bowl, mug, can, or container into a vacuum-sealed one. Armed with a handy pump that can create a vacuum within the container in just 5 seconds, Freshy’s glass lids sport a silicone-sealant that helps keep food fresher for longer by increasing their shelf life by as much as 700%! This means cooked meals and leftovers can last as long as 10 days, fruits as long as 2 weeks, cheeses for nearly two months, and your favorite coffee grounds for as long as an entire year. The lids sit flat on any container/vessel with a smooth circular rim, and the pump immediately creates an impermeable seal while removing all the air from inside the container.

I can’t begin to tell you how stressful poaching an egg is to the amateur cook. Every chef has their own technique which requires a fair amount of expertise. Some do it in a microwave, some swirl the water before they put the egg in, and some use tea strainers or cups to introduce the cracked egg to boiling water… and while each chef has their own poaching lifehack, none are as easy (and easy-looking) as using OTOTO’s Eggland poacher. Designed as a pool-tube that floats in water, this food-grade silicone device makes poaching eggs absolutely stress-free. Just place the Eggland in almost-boiling water, add a few drops of oil, and crack the egg right into its cavity. The egg looks like it’s lounging away, while the hot water below it cooks it to oozy-yolk perfection. Pull the device out by the handle that’s modeled after an inflatable palm tree, and flip the egg over your ham and cheese sandwich to upgrade it to an absolutely divine Croque Madame sandwich. Now THAT’s what I call a breakfast of champions!

crunch_cup_1

crunch_cup_2

The Crunch Cup is just the kind of invention I’d expect from a mad scientist who wanted to have a wholesome breakfast while rushing to work. For years we’ve been able to carry coffee, tea, juices, and milkshakes around with us in flasks, but having cereal on the go has always been that elusive concept that nobody bothered to crack… until now. That’s where the Crunch Cup is trying to change the game. The first cup that’s designed to have cereals while on the move, the Crunch Cup comes with double-wall construction and a double-mouthed lid to match. Made of an inner and outer container, the Crunch Cup holds both parts of the milk-and-cereal combo separately, keeping them away from each other so you’re not left with a soggy mess. The inner container holds the cereal of your choice, while the outer container is for the milk of your choice. A two-piece, double-mouthed lid sits on top, allowing you to take a sip of your milk and a crunch of your cereal at the same time. The cereal remains crunchy because it isn’t soaked in the milk until it reaches inside your mouth, and the lid itself can be closed so that you can take your breakfast with you on the go, taking a sip/crunch every 5-10 minutes whenever you feel like.

tb3

TidyBoard was designed to encourage healthy eating and turn it into a sustainable lifestyle change instead of a trend (looking at you, juice cleanse!). It streamlines your prep with strategically placed strainers, catches, and containers on the end of the cutting board so there is more to eat and less to clean. It keeps food and scraps separate and allows you to strain hands-free. When you are done with the chopping and cutting, one swipe of your hand will clear it all. TidyBoard is constructed from bamboo which is antibacterial and durable enough to last for years making the wear and tear worth the effort. Bamboo also makes it lightweight and eco-friendly. “The TidyBoard was mindfully influenced by math and physics. Our board is engineered as a lever to stay steady even with a heavy load in the containers,” says the team. It makes your morning meal-prep routine swift, efficient and hassle-free!

ordine_cooking_hub_02

haier_4

Gotta love this twist on the rice cooker! Called the Haier Multipurpose Cooker, it takes the versatility of this popular appliance and multiplies it times 3! Instead of one unit for steaming, it features three cooking hubs with containers of different sizes. Better yet, each container can be removed, taken “to-go” and even washed independently, so you can avoid using plastic or disposable containers.

Pretend to knock out some blues solos while you’re chopping up your greens, because Etsy seller CuttingBoredom’s created some really cool looking wooden chopping boards inspired by two of rock music’s most iconic guitars, the Fender Stratocaster and the Gibson Les Paul. Available in Cherry, Mahogany, and Walnut, these cutting boards come made to perfection with wooden inlays that make them look just like the real deal.

The Samsung Dual Cook Flex is equipped with a flexible dual door system, enabling you to cook two dishes at the same time. However, you can customize their temperatures and cook both dishes at their unique requirements! How does it do that? grundig_01

The Grundig Exclusive line consists of common kitchen products that aim to free up counter and storage space so you have more room to live! The two parts in the series each serve distinct purposes. The central unit marries the functionality of a kettle and a coffee maker – a simple and natural combination. The same water that’s boiled for tea can be used in the coffee filtration process, eliminating the need for a stovetop kettle.

Mimicking a waffle maker, the Mitsubishi Bread Oven looks like it’s come straight out of the ’80s with its retro-esque veneer brown look. Built with a sealed thermal-insulated structure, it can toast your bread without releasing any moisture, ensuring the bread is soft, fluffy and far from being dry. Arc by Kim Seungwoo is a faucet with a twist…or an arc! It’s a far cry from the conventional drinking faucet available today, boasting a refreshing form. The arc-like shape represents the free-flowing and dynamic nature of water. An under the sink filtration system ensures purified and clean water is easily accessible to you!

Peleg Design’s pelican is the only bird allowed in your kitchen!

I love to cook, but I hate to do the dishes after. The soaking dishes, the wet cloth, the soapy sponge – it is all so damp! Designer Gil Cohen has created Pelix for Peleg Design, a cute kitchen companion that will reduce your internal shrieks and actually lift your mood while doing dishes. This little pelican shaped cloth and sponge holder will be perched on your counter and the only thing that will fly is the time taken to do chores.

Pelix’s bright break is actually a cloth holder, so hang up that dishcloth while the body of the pelican is a cup for your sponge. Pelix makes it easy to keep dish cleaning essentials right where they are needed with its suction cup bottom, but unlike Ross Geller, it can pivot and make your life easier! Usually, we always look for a blind spot in our kitchen that guests cannot see to keep dishcloths and sponges because having them dry right there can ruin the interior aesthetics of your space, however, this handy pelican will fetch many compliments for its form while being super functional.

That is why it is called a pelican, not a pelicant – get it!?
