Alien Xenomorph Head Letter Opener

Because nothing says I’m the boss around here like an over-the-top letter opener, this is the Alien Xenomorph Letter Opener from Diamond Select Toys and available on Amazon (affiliate link). I think it goes without saying it’s the perfect letter opener for playing the knife game (aka five-finger filet) like Bishop in the original Alien movie.

The 10″ long unit features a heavy base resembling the head of a xenomorph warrior, with the actual letter opener being a removable model of the alien’s inner jaw. Remember the first time you saw that in the original movie? It still gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Does anybody even use letter openers anymore? I just assumed they were a way to keep a weapon at your desk in the event your coworkers turn on you. I mean it’s not that hard to open an envelope, especially if you don’t care about what’s inside. ‘Probably just another past-due bill’ I exclaimed while accidentally ripping my second COVID stimulus check to shreds.

These Samurai Sword Letter Openers Are Ready to Take Down Tiny Zombies

If you’ve ever visited Japan, you might have come across some tiny samurai swords being sold as souvenirs. It turns out that some of these are actually designed to be letter openers. Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly reduced tourism throughout the country, so fewer people can get their hands on these tiny katanas. So Japanese scissor company Nikken has decided to start a crowdfunding campaign to sell them online.

These samurai sword letter openers are hand-sharpened by Seki craftsmen and feature a curved blade just like the real deal. However, these katanas are designed to be sharp enough only to open mail, and not to slice your skin.

These special edition swords come with a custom engraving on their blades, with any message you’d like – the only limit being eight kanji, hiragana, or katakana characters, or 15 Roman letters and numbers. They come in three different color schemes, and each one includes a handsome display stand.

The miniature katana letter openers are up for sale on Japanese crowdfunding site Makuake, with prices starting at just ¥4000 (~$37 USD), but it’s unclear if they can be shipped outside of Japan.

Walking Dead Zombie & Sword Letter Opener Set

One of my favorite characters on The Walking Dead is Michonne. I like her because she uses a sword to slice and dice zombies rather than a gun. If you are besieged with a bunch of slow zombies, I think a sharp Katana sword might be the best way to kill a hoard. I would want guns too though.

This is an official Walking Dead letter opener that opens sealed envelopes much in the same way Michonne dispatches the undead. While it doesn’t quite look like Michonne’s katana, it does look like a sword, and it’s sharp enough to use to open letters. That probably means the blade is completely dull and you simply use it to rip open the top of a letter.

The sword sticks into the rotting skull of a walker and looks awesome. I particularly like that you can see the sword in the mouth of the zombie. The sword is 11.5″ long and the zombie base is 13″ (H) x 4.5″ (W) x 3.5″ (D). You can get your letter opener for $89.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

Klingon D’k tahg Letter Opener Slices Envelopes Where they Stand

I always thought the Klingon language was made up of sounds that were invented while people were clearing their throats. My favorite Klingon was Worf from The Next Generation and if you want to be a little more like Worf, you need this letter opener.

You can prove that your electric bill has no honor by slicing it open with the D’k tahg letter opener that looks like a little version of Worf’s own knife. The opener is perfect for hand-to-hand combat with pesky envelopes.

The D’k tahg letter opener is made from a zinc alloy. It measures 8″ x 3″ x 4″ and weighs about five ounces. Sadly, the secondary blades don’t spring open like the one from series – they’re fixed. It is an officially licensed Star Trek collectable and you can pick one up for $24.99 from ThinkGeek.

Useful Carbon Fiber Artwork

We often associate carbon fiber with things like wild sports cars and supersonic jets, but what if this modern material was applied to an everyday object… say… like a letter opener?! In a seriously limited edition of just 15 pieces, the Purisme is one example of the high tech material’s limitless uses and technical perfection. It’s a distinct, dynamic, designer, desktop object that’s sure to let everyone know who’s boss.
