This portable Coffee Maker’s nesting design is the ultimate travel companion!

As I prepared for my first camping trip, coffee was the only thing on my mind. I thought my worries were solved once I packed my stovetop coffeemaker and portable propane stove, but then the propane ran out, so my first cup of coffee had to wait. Situations like these are exactly why the Nesting Cafe, designed by Songhwa Park, was created. Whether you’re at a sporting event or on a camping trip, the Nesting Cafe will make sure you stay caffeinated no matter what.

Nesting Cafe’s design reinterprets the iconic Matryoshka doll by attaching a capsule coffee maker to the inside of its steel tumbler and removable wooden cup. The bottom of the wooden cup utilizes a magnet in order to securely attach to the coffee maker so that you can bring it everywhere you go. Once the coffee is finished brewing, then the user can decide whether they’d like to sip it straight from the tumbler, where the coffee from the capsule is poured into, or drink some out of the accompanying wooden mug. The product is comprised of three main parts: its carrying case, which includes a leather strap for easy transportation and the compartment for pods to brew your coffee, a tumbler, which fills up with coffee once brewed, and lastly, the removable wooden mug which provides an additional option from which to drink. Nesting Cafe was also designed in an assortment of different tones and shades so that no matter where you might find yourself, coffee will always follow.

Upon first glance, Nesting Cafe might look like a really slick, modern take on the Russian doll we’ve come to cherish. While that would be an accurate assumption, it’s also so much more. Opening the product’s front door, the user sees all that comprises the portable coffee maker. Just like the beloved Russian doll, Nesting Cafe brings new life to an otherwise timeless appliance.

Justice League Nesting Dolls: Flash Is Fast, Flash Is Cool, Flash Is Tiny

Justice League hits theaters this Friday, and while it sounds like it’s far from perfect, early reviews are that it’s a step in the right direction for the dark and dreary Snyder-verse take on DC Comics’ superheroes. I sure hope it has more humor than Batman v. Superman. I felt like I needed to knock back a couple of Prozac after watching that one.

For me, the Justice League was a lighthearted Saturday morning cartoon back during my childhood, so there’s a pretty dramatic divide between those two worlds for me. If you prefer the bright and colorful cartoon version of the Justice League, then check out these fun collectibles that recently turned up at ThinkGeek.

This set of Russian-style nesting dolls includes likenesses of the five original members of the Justice League: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and The Flash, with sizes ranging from 6″ tall down to 1-3/4″ tall. I guess their sizes sort of correspond to their popularity in the DC universe, though I was always more of a Batman guy than a Superman guy. Regardless, it’s a fun addition to any toy collection, and barely takes up any space when they’re all stacked inside of each other.

You can grab the set over at ThinkGeek for just $25, which is cheaper than a ticket to the theater with popcorn and a drink these days.

’60s Batman Nesting Dolls: Holy Matryoshka Batman!

A couple of years ago we checked out artist Andy Stattmiller’s Star Wars nesting dolls. He’s made more pop culture nesting dolls since then, the latest being this set based on the Batman TV series from the sixties.

The dolls are of Batman, Robin, the Joker, Batgirl, the Riddler, Commissioner Gordon, Catwoman and the Penguin. As with the Star Wars dolls, Andy made these using wood and acrylic paint. The largest doll is 8″ tall and the smallest one is just 0.75″ tall.

If you’re in Los Angeles, you can see the dolls in person – and perhaps purchase the set – at Gallery 1988’s Idiot Box 2 art show from 5/1 to 5/16.

These figures are going to look awesome in your collection. Hopefully you already own a hamburger restaurant diorama to display them in. Bob is about 4″ tall and they go down in size to Louise, who is about 1″ tall. Now make like Linda Belcher and put your hands in the air and say, “Alriggght! Oh they’re so cute! Can we get these Bobby? Bobby? Bob-o?”

This set will cost you $50(USD), but you can’t put a price on bringing your favorite cartoon family into your home.

Adventure Time Nesting Dolls: Mathematical Matryoshka

Nesting dolls are very cool; they originated in the 1890s in Russia. Later, they would turn up on someone’s grandma’s knick-knack table, and the rest is history. Usually a set of nesting dolls look like boring people, but not this set. They look like the characters from Adventure Time. If you have never watched Adventure Time, you are missing some truly algebraic action.

These wooden nesting dolls include Finn as the largest, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, The Ice King, and BMO. I think Jake should have been the largest of the nesting dolls. After all, he can make himself as gigantic as he wants.

The only nesting doll that doesn’t open up is BMO. Jake is 5.75″ tall and the size goes down for each one, with BMO measuring just 1.6″. You can pick up a set for $24.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

Star Wars Nesting Dolls: May the Force Be with You. And You. And You. and You. And You.

These are the dolls you’re looking for. Graphic designer, illustrator and disciple of the Russian side of the Force Andy Stattmiller made nesting dolls of the characters in Star Wars IV: A New Hope. Just the main ones though. Otherwise some of the dolls would be insanely small.

Andy made the dolls out of wood and acrylic paint. The dolls are separated into two groups of seven dolls each: the good guys and the bad guys. The largest dolls are 8″ tall while the smallest ones are just 0.75″.

I find their lack of limbs hilarious.
