Watch as a Nintendo Wii Melts: Catastroph-Wii

The other day we showed you the soothing and seductive way that the folks at Let’s Melt This burned down their PS3. Technically it was more melting than burning, but that is the name of their channel after all. It was beautiful chaos. For their next melting video they choose to sear a Nintendo Wii. Now that is a console I can cheer about being melted. Not a big fan. But it is fun to watch it burn.

Watching this Wii melt seems even better than the PS3. Seeing that Nintendo logo on fire is as good as any special effect. Nintendo needs to use that for one of their promotions.

By the end of the video, when you see the console’s face melting, this thing almost looks like it is in agony. But it sure is lovely to watch. I wish we could say that no consoles were harmed but… oh well.

Working iPhone 6s Boiled in Melted Crayons

Taras Maksimuk wanted to see what would happen if he boiled a working iPhone 6s in melted blue crayons. Naturally. I mean, who hasn’t wondered what would happen if you boiled an iPhone in a bunch of crayons? Uh.

So what happens when you drop your phone into a waxy blue volcano? Well, first, the color of the wax is pretty cool. It looks really good on the phone – like a vintage car color. It’s very calming. Enjoy the zen that is this tranquil video. At least until the phone basically blows up, sending wax everywhere and catching on fire.

Thank you Taras, for risking your own life so that we can watch this kind of crazy stuff from the safety of our own devices.

Samsung finds exploding Galaxy S III was due to ‘external source’, owner says it was a ‘mistake’

Remember the melted Samsung Galaxy S III that surfaced in an Irish forum a few weeks ago? Samsung said they were looking into it and, along with a third party investigation, have decided it occurred as a result of "external energy" being applied to the device, not anything from within the phone itself. The damage is apparently consistent with the phone going in the microwave. The original poster dillo2k10 has posted an update on Boards.ie, indicating it was a mistake by someone else in an attempt to recover the phone after it got wet. The Samsung Tomorrow post linked cites a report from Fire Investigations UK finding that the phone itself was not responsible for generating the heat that caused the damage, so GSIII owners (and the pockets of their skinny jeans) should be able to breathe easier.
