‘Mr. Robot’ creator turns sci-fi legend ‘Metropolis’ into a series
Alien Robot Costume Transports You Back to the 1920s
If you never saw Fritz Lang’s classic science 1927 fiction film Metropolis, you owe it to yourself to watch this early bit of cinematic history, with its view of a dystopian future, dramatic costumes, sets and cinematography. While this costume isn’t pulled directly from that film, its style sure seems like something that could have fit right into the 1920s period of science fiction films.
This “alien robot” costume was handmade using needle-felting and wire by Brooklyn textile artist Rae Stimson, and I have to say it’s quite spectacular. It looks especially great in these black and white photos, with the model all made up to look the part. The costume includes the helmet, collar, top, the skirt and a pair of matching shoe covers to complete the look.
It’s available for $800(USD) over on Etsy now. If you’ve got a petite figure, and think you can pull off the look, you could be wearing this thing in time for Comic Con this year.
