Compact Little Home Makes Up For Limited Footprint With A Flexible Swiss Army Knife-Style Living Room

Modern Tiny Living recently designed the Cerceaux tiny home, and it packs a punch with its unique storage-packed interior, and an impressive “Swiss Army Knife” living room. It features a length of 20 feet, but its innovative and flexible layout truly makes it stand apart. It is based on a double-axle trailer and features a finish in engineered wood. The wood finishing is topped by a steel roof, and complemented by an exterior storage box. It is designed to be a good home for the weekend, but may not be a great full-time residence since it has a compact footprint.

As you enter the home, you are welcomed by a living area or the ‘MTL Social Area’. This section is raised and can seat around six people, in a U shape. It also contains generous glazing, ensuring the space is quite light-filled. Since this space is raised, it includes a load of storage areas, such as pull-out drawers and bookshelves. The sofa can be converted into a bed for the guests if they decide to sleep over. The kitchen is located nearby, and it contains a breakfast bar for two people, a propane-powered four-burner cooktop with an electric oven, a steel sink, a washer/dryer, and a fridge/freezer. It is also equipped with loads of cabinetry, and in-ceiling drop-down cabinets which are suitable for spices. The bathroom is located next to the kitchen and can be entered via a sliding barn-style door. The bathroom is pretty small, and it includes a composting toilet, shower, and sink.

The Cerceaux tiny home only contains one bedroom, which can be accessed through a storage-integrated staircase. This bedroom is much like the bedrooms typically seen in tiny homes. It features a loft-like style, and a low ceiling, as well as a double bed, and space for more storage. The home is powered by a roof-based solar panel and battery setup, making it an excellent fit for some off-the-gird adventures. At the moment, we aren’t aware of the tiny home’s pricing.

It is founded on a triple-axle trailer and is accentuated by fiber cement board siding as finishing, an engineered wood trim, a charcoal-colored steel roof, and a custom cedar door.

The Sangja House Perfectly Combines Portability & Comfort To Create The Ultimate Tiny Home

In all honesty, tiny homes don’t seem to be oh-so-tiny lately. They’re getting to be bigger and bigger, as people want to downsize, but without having to cramp themselves up in completely uncomfortable homes. Modern Tiny Living is one of the tiny home builders on the market who manage to create homes that are a good mix of portability and comfort, and one such tiny home by them is Sangja. Measuring 28 feet, Sangja is a cozy home with a master bedroom with sufficient standing space, a well-designed living room, and a bathtub!

Designer: Modern Tiny Living

Based on a triple-axle trailer, the Sangja’s exterior is finished in engineered wood with a smooth cedar accenting. The Sangja also features massive windows and a skylight which maximize daylight within the home, creating a well-lit and free-flowing living space. Although Sangja has a modest length, it is not the smallest tiny home on the market, but it is tinier than the North American towable homes we usually see.

As visitors enter the home, they are welcomed by a living room equipped with a large sofa and some functional integrated storage, as well as a custom maple vertical slat wall. Besides the maple slat wall, the rest of the interior is finished in some soothing plywood. Next to the living room is a kitchen, which features a breakfast bar with stool seating, a fridge/freezer, a propane-powered stove, and an oven, as well as some shelving and butcher block countertops. As you walk further into the home, there is a bathroom opposite the living room. You can access this space via a sliding door, and it includes a washer/dryer, composting toilet, bathtub, and a built-in shower.

The Sangja includes two bedrooms – a master bedroom downstairs, and a second bedroom placed directly above the master bedroom. The master bedroom is placed on the side of the home that is opposite the bathroom. It includes a double bed with built-in storage and has plenty of headroom allowing visitors to stand upright. This space also contains shelving and a bedside cabinet. The second bedroom above the master bedroom can be accessed via a ladder.

The Buttercup Tiny Home Lets You Host A Mean Dinner Party In Micro-Living Style

As adorable as it sounds, the Buttercup tiny home is also just that capable and functional! Occupying 24 feet, this compact little home can easily seat six people, and sleep up to four, although it may be a bit of a tight fit. In a world where tiny homes don’t usually support hosting, the Buttercup tiny home does have enough space to have a couple of your friends over, and host a quaint dinner party – micro-living style!

Designer: Modern Tiny Living

Designed by Modern Tiny Living, the Buttercup is quite small for a North American tiny home, and hence it is aimed to be a weekender/vacation home, rather than a full-time home. However, the space could function as a full-time home if the owners like. The house is founded on a double-axle trailer, and is clad in engineered wood, and topped with a metallic roof. The home is powered by a standard RV-style hookup.

As visitors enter the home, they find themselves right next to the living room. The living room is light-filled and finished in PVC paneling with vinyl flooring. The living room isn’t super spacious, but it is quite generous for a tiny home. It is adorned with bookshelves and a massive U-shaped sofa that can seat six people. The sofa also includes integrated storage space and can be converted into a bed for guests. Next to the living room is the kitchen, which has custom cabinetry and Corian countertops, as well as a dining table fitted underneath the staircase.

The kitchen also includes a sink, and a washer/dryer. The owner will also install their own fridge, oven, and any other appliances he may need. You can access the bathroom from the kitchen through a sliding barn-style door. The bathroom is quite tiny, and it includes a shower, flushing toilet, sink, and shelving. The Buttercup only includes one bedroom which can be accessed via a storage-integrated staircase. The bedroom is like a typical loft-style sleeping space as seen in most tiny homes. It has a low ceiling, a double bed, as well as some storage space, which can offer privacy by functioning as a dividing wall.

Modern Tiny Home Features A Rooftop Deck & Space-Saving Interior With A Pulley Operated Ladder

I love a good tiny home! They are a space-saving and eco-friendly living solution that reduces the load on Mother Earth. They’re simple and minimal alternatives to the imposing, materialistic dwellings that seem to have taken over. And they’re also notable for their ability and gift to maximize the use of limited space.  And this compact tiny home by Modern Tiny Living checks all the right boxes for me! Dubbed the Pathway, this latest model by MTL is an excellent effort on their part to maximize limited space. MTL is known for its clever and ingenious tiny home designs, that tend to take the micro-living world by storm.

The minimal and chic towable home has a length of 8 feet and a couple of star features such as a rooftop deck, and a smart space-saving interior accentuated with a pulley-operated ladder. It isn’t one of the tiniest tiny homes on the market, but it’s definitely half the length of most North American models, and smaller than the petite French tiny homes you may have come across.

Pros:

  • Features a rooftop desk, which is the first of its kind from MTL
  • The rooftop deck area is equipped with collapsible security railings for safety
  • Equipped with a generous amount of storage space

Cons:

  • Not the smallest tiny home on the market, you can find more compact options
  • The bedroom is only accessible via a pulley-operated ladder, which isn’t the most inclusive design, and could be uncomfortable for some to climb

Designer: Modern Tiny Living

The compact home is supported by a double-axle trailer and finished in engineered wood. The aforementioned rooftop deck area is a brilliant space to host guests, which was a priority for the homeowner, and has been equipped with a collapsible security railing for safety. The deck area is accessible via an exterior spiral staircase that is yet to be installed by the owner. The home is intended to be located on a plot of land with stunning views of the San Juan Mountains in Colorado, so the rooftop deck will be an excellent location to enjoy the panoramic vistas. The interior also features generous glazing to showcase the exquisite views as well.

The main living area of the Pathway is occupied by a large L-shaped sofa bed that sleeps two people, and some smart integrated storage space. The kitchen is closely located, and houses custom cabinetry, a pantry area, a fridge/freezer, a three-burner propane-powered stove, and a sink. It also includes a drop-down dining area for two people and ample storage space with integrated shelving. The tiny home’s bathroom is compact but adequately equipped with a shower and flushing toilet.

Another key feature of the home is the pulley-operated wooden steps that provide access to the only bedroom in the tiny home, which is a loft-style cozy space with a low ceiling and a double bed. The stairs can be raised to the ceiling by simply pulling up a hand crank, which clears up the floor space below.
