This multifunctional desk features entertainment and work modules to help you switch off from work mode

The Layout desk is a multifunctional workspace that comes with various entertainment and work modules to blur the line between WFH and play.

WFH has transformed our desks into micro versions of our homes. Blurring the line between work and play, spending so much time at home has made our desks representative entertainment systems, craft stations, and storage bins all in addition to first functioning as our workspaces. With so many WFH-inspired desk concepts coming out, a team of designers aimed to build the Layout, a modular desk that can do it all, and then some.

Inspired by the blurring of work and play in WFH spaces, Juwon Kim, Jiwon Song, and Eunsang Lee framed Layout with a translucent, corrugated exterior finish that immediately catches the eye. Wrapped in sea green, the Layout desk is modular by design to incorporate a plethora of different work and entertainment features. The Layout desk is topped off with an upper cover that’s designed to conceal the workspace after the workday’s done.

When you’re still getting in those hours, though, the Layout desk’s upper cover folds up and functions as a partition to create some privacy and a sense of spatial boundaries for the workspace. When closed, the desk features a front display panel, similar to the Mac’s Touch Bar, where users can add widgets to play with after work. The widgets range from a music player, clock, and micro-control grid. But all the fun is also kept underneath the desk’s cover.

Different modules outfit the inside of the Layout desk, bringing a mix of practical and leisure modules. The light controller and paperclip modules, for example, operate the desk’s interior glow light and create storage space for small stationery items respectively. Phone charging and calendar modules make it easy to stay connected and on top of your schedule while working and a pencil holder creates some more storage space.

Then, the desk’s music modules take the form of a CD player and accompanying speaker for slow jam, ambient music while you work. Finally, an electronic memo pad is also worked into the desk’s modular interior, so you can always keep note of your day-to-day.

Layout’s team of designers took the traditional desk form and topped it off with a lid to incorporate entertainment and work modules.

The translucent, corrugated cover for the Layout desk speaks to the designers’ inspiration in blurring the line between WFH and play.

The Layout desk’s top lid draws back like an awning to provide a partition.

Inside the desk’s storage space, an integrated glowing light keeps the workspace bright.

When closed, users can enjoy the desk’s touch bar control panel, which comes with default clock and music widgets.

Users can add their own widgets to the control panel to optimize its usability.

The integrated memo pad module allows users to keep notes of their daily goings-on.

The light dimmer adjusts the desk’s interior light, while a paperclip storage bin provides space to store small stationery items.

Content creation is a task that is more difficult than it looks. You may think creating content is simple, but expressing yourself successfully and meeting the demands of your fans is a challenging task requiring TONS of focus. And what is the first step to focusing correctly – your workspace. Everything right from the ambient light setting to the ergonomic desk setup plays a part in their work. Desk space is sacred, be it the animation master Miyazaki’s cluttered organization or the clean and organized setup of your favorite Instagram influencer. Among the limitless options for home office desk setups, design student Alphee Grand from Paris, France, has come up with a refreshing solution that makes complete sense in current pandemic stricken times.

Named the “Program” this modular desk is ideal for creative individuals who love the freedom of organizing their desk as per their needs. Depending on the task at hand or the kind of tools required, the desk comes equipped with various cubbyholes and hanging spaces for you to get creative, literally! The different storage modules can be suitable for storing files, documents, or even your favorite magazines or sketches. In addition, the desk has a large storage box and a two-part table to further extend the modularity aspect. I find the design an eclectic mix of structure yet chaos – it has enough options to create an organized workspace or to embrace the chaos – it gives you the freedom to make your desk setup work for you.

The most fun aspect of this modular furniture design is the air of openness to it. The side section of the desk has stepped storage modules which feel more like an extended “me space.” We can hang headphones on it or favorite novels displayed on the compact metal storage elements – always in the purview of the peripheral vision. We can tweak the central section of the Program desk for artistic chores like sketching, which is another significant advantage, especially for artists. Finally, when you want to close up for the day, we can collapse the Program’s desk section and make it a display for all your hanged memorabilia, courtesy of the wheels on the underside!

This intelligent standing desk adjusts to any angle to meet all your work from home requirements!

It’s been three months into 2021, and I’ve honestly pretty much gotten used to working from home. At this point in time, the work from home routine suits me just fine, except for the fact that constantly sitting around on a desk can turn out to be problematic for my back and posture. The knots on my shoulder are at an all-time high, and I’m always on the lookout for ergonomically designed work desks and chairs, that can allow me to work for hours on end, without sacrificing my back to Satan! During one of my hunts for home office furniture, I came across the UFOU UPON Intelligent Sit-to-Stand Desk. UPON is supposed to be the world’s 1st e-desk with three-axis adjustments! What this basically means, is that it’s a lifting table that is adaptable to various height adjustments.

Designed by UFOU Design Inc, the height of the desk can be freely adjusted from 650mm to 1300m, so it’s suitable for everyone, whether child or adult! It doesn’t matter how tall you are, you can easily customize the modular desk to suit your height and posture. No more straining your neck, because a desk is too short for you (I’m 5’11 and I struggle with this ALL the time). The tray can be extended up to 150mm, and the flip angle lockable from 0 to 35 degrees. All these intriguing features let you work while sitting or standing and make it suitable for a variety of activities from reading, writing, drawing to working on your laptop. The three-axis adjustment allows the table to be extended upwards, downwards, forward, backward, and at multiple tilted angles. You can do this via the patented ‘Joy-Con’ controller, which is quite similar to a Joystick. The controller comes equipped with a sedentary reminder, lock, and memory button. Additionally, an intelligent anti-pinch function prevents the desk from getting jammed up or trapped.

With a standing desk like UPON you can almost never get bored! You never have to work in the same old position for long hours. You can adjust the desk according to your moods and comfort, allowing you to truly focus on your work, letting your creativity flow, and in turn, increasing your productivity. UPON is not limited to a single user, it can in fact cater to the needs of multiple users. It can adapt to the requirements of various people from different age groups, heights, and fields of work. If you do install such a desk in your home office, it can be utilized by all the working members of your family, irrespective of how they choose to use it. UPON’s various configurations make it compatible with all sorts of methods of applications, so each user can make the most of the desk, in their own style! UPON is a modern, modular, and intelligent desk whose applications and possibilities are endless!

This modular desk lets you design every element to create the perfect work setup that meets your changing needs!

The right desk is arguably the most important addition to every workspace. They set the tone and pace for organization, creativity, and productivity for each workday. Over time, desks somehow end up personifying the people sitting behind them, becoming either messy with miscellaneous paper scraps for the scatter-brained creative or tidier than ever with only a laptop and calculator for the organized, Type A worker bee. What if we were able to design our desks before they defined us? That might turn out to be the last desk we’d ever need.

Frame CPH, a design team based in Copenhagen, recently debuted LastDesk, a modular desk that you can design yourself to unlock your ideal workspace. The aim was to create a desk that can easily adapt to today’s ever-changing technological and remote working developments. The desk itself is a classic interpretation of Scandinavian design, but it offers a more accessible approach to minimalism through the desk’s modular features. While the frame of LastDesk is as simple a frame as they come, the desktop comes equipped with changeable wooden trays and flat, slate gray slabs that can either provide extra storage for your workspace, a wireless charging station, or a means to rid your workspace of any unnecessary clutter.

Wooden trays with minimalist-approved, shallow pockets can be added to your desktop in either the top left or right corner in case any additional room for storage is needed. Then, if you prefer a more open, tidy desktop, flip the wooden trays over and expand the deskspace for more working room. Finally, if your smartphone or other wireless electronic device needs some battery juice, pick the wireless charging base and turn your desk into a power-charging station. LastDesk’s legs are also adjustable so, if you’re looking for a stand-up desk or a traditional sit-down desk, then LastDesk can adapt to your changing mind and workload. LastDesk also offers a next-generation wireless charging module, an intelligent sit-to-stand OLED controller, and a built-in, high-speed 60W USB charging slot located on one of the desk’s side panels.

Together with Søren Rose Studio, Frame CPH, and the Danish furniture brand, Stykka have designed a desk, produced with responsibility-sourced material for longevity, that is meant to be disassembled and reconstructed again and again to roll with the ever-changing world around us – they’ve designed the ultimate desk that will always work for you, the ultimate user.

LastDesk interprets Scandinavian design by embracing a pure, clean, and focused overall aesthetic, while also offering additional desktop designs through modularity. By integrating an unassuming, smooth wire slot for your laptop chargers or desktop wires, it’s easy to keep LastDesk organized and tidy.

Other modular trays include additional workspace accessories, such as task lamps, which are available for users to attach to LastDesk. By integrating changeable parts with which users can attach accessories, the creators at Frame CPH further enhance LastDesk’s adaptive qualities.

If necessary, a slot specifically meant for monitor mount insertions can be incorporated onto LastDesk’s top piece, so that users can optimize the desk’s working area and also securely attach their hardware to LastDesk’s modular structure.

In addition to the task lamp, a Sonos speaker comes attached to one of the slate gray, modular trays and can be chosen as one of the ways to personalize your unique LastDesk configuration. The Sonos speakers addition is an ideal companion for phone meetings or conference calls that can take place at a desk.

Finally, LastDesk comes equipped with another modular tray that doubles as a wireless charging station for your smartphone or accompanying, chargeable device. For the long workdays that turn into longer work nights, this charging station will be sure to keep your phone charged up and ready (even when you might not be).

Lie down and work from home without compromising on your productivity!

At first glance, the Altwork mechanical desk can remind you of the dentist’s work station but this is actually the craziest desk I have seen since I started looking for things that can up my work-from-home game. This desk is designed to suit your every need and really just whim at this point. Stand up desk? Yes! Lie down desk? Also, yes! As outrageous as it might be to spend close to $8000 on a work desk, I will admit that it would be nice to have one of these Altwork stations.

The Altwork desk claims to be the ultimate in productivity and ergonomics….and I agree, I have never seen a desk so flexible that it is practically a gymnast who also cares about your posture. This desk encourages productivity by molding itself to any position that you feel your best in. I personally love to stand and work but I don’t like being stuck in the same place, I work best when I move around and this desk allows me the freedom to do both! There is a demographic that may have health problems which makes it hard for them to sit at a conventional desk and chair in an office. This causes them to lose out on many job opportunities that they might excel at simply because there wasn’t a solution for “How will they sit in the office?” but, thankfully, technology today has given us the ability to work from anywhere and this desk’s shape-shifting form makes it a part of the inclusive design world which caters to the needs of differently-abled. Productivity and health is a universal right.

It is also healthy to keep changing our work positions throughout the day, so alternate between the usual reclining, standing and sitting but also come up with some innovative positions. Like can you do a yoga pose that is good for your back while sitting on this? Probably, yes. With the comfortable headrest and footrest, you can also nap right after your work is done. This desk is work-from-home furniture goals.
