Kermit and Miss Piggy Desktop Figures Makes it Easy to Take Your Green

A big staple of my childhood was the Muppets, be it on Sesame Street or The Muppet Show. The stalkerish Miss Piggy used to creep me out; I just wanted her to leave my bro Kermit alone. It probably would have been easier being green if Piggy wasn’t in the picture.

Fans can soon get their hands on these UDF mini-figures from Medicom to celebrate their love for the Muppets. Piggy is up and walking around, decked out in pearls and hot for Froggy. Our green pal Kermit the Frog (Hi Ho Everyone!) is sitting on a box, legs crossed hoping to avoid the pig.

Shipping for the figures is a long way off in November 2019, but you can pre-order on Entertainment Earth now for just $11.99 each.

Ever Wonder How Big Bird Works?

I watched a lot of Sesame Street when I was really young. It was like the only thing that the babysitter would let us watch. I liked it ok, but honestly puppets like the ones on the show gave me the willies. I had a love-hate relationship with Big Bird. He was nice and taught me shit and all, but he was also creepy and looked like he might eat you instead of a worm.

While the smaller puppets were easy to figure out, I always wondered how they made Big Bird work, and thanks to this video now we know. The video comes from the I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story documentary. The video shows all the details on how puppeteer Caroll Spinney and the folks from Jim Henson’s team brought this giant yellow bird to life.

The part that is so weird is that the puppeteer had to walk around with his arm way up in the air using his hand to control the eyes and mouth. I never would have thought that was how they did it.

Tickle Me Elmo with Its Fur Removed Will Haunt Your Nightmares

What in the unholy hell of puppetry!? I won’t be getting any sleep tonight after seeing this bit of nightmare fuel – and neither will you. To prepare for their upcoming summer camp, the Canada Science and Technology Museum Science Mobile team removed a Tickle Me Elmo doll’s red fur and proceeded to tickle it.

What sick bastards! So they skinned a helpless Sesame Street animal and then tickled it’s skeleton. Did they know it would be this creepy and weird? Did they know that they would be responsible for millions of nightmares worldwide? I’m pretty sure they did.

Warning, this can’t be unseen, so keep that in mind before you hit play:

I have no idea. I just know that watching his plastic skeleton uncontrollably giggle and wiggle around is something I need to wash from my brain. And it just gets worse, as skinless Elmo has now been joined by skinless Cookie Monster:

Labyrinth Firey Plush Wants Your Head

Labyrinth is one of those movies that you had to watch growing up in the 1980s. It creeped me out more than a little, but it wasn’t just the puppets that gave me nightmares, David Bowie did too. Fans of the flick might remember Firey. You know, the weird, fuzzy puppet that wanted to lop off Sarah’s head and play basketball with it?

You can get your own Firey plush, complete with its own removable limbs and head. The plush measures 12″ x 12″ x 6″, and while it’s not a dead ringer for the Fireys in the film, it’s just as creepy.

Get your own Firey for $34.99(USD) at ThinkGeek. Just don’t let it get anywhere near your head.

Pigs in Space Alien Parody: In Space, No One Can Hear You Oink

Growing up, I loved the Muppets, I thought they were awesome. I hated Piggy though because she was kind of a dick and always messing with Kermit. For some reason though, I have no recollection at all of Pigs in Space. Maybe it was my hatred for Piggy that caused me to block it out.

Apparently, it was a thing back in the day. That segment has been revived on YouTube and it’s awesome. The first episode is an Alien parody where rather than an acid bleeding alien popping out of the infected Captain’s chest, it’s Pepe the King Prawn.

It will make you wonder “What the Actual F?” and laugh at the same time. It’s great TV. I hope they keep making more episodes.
