OCZ hits back with a new line of SATA 6.0 Gbps SSDs, the TL100. Coming in two different storage capacities: 120GB and 240GB, these slim 2.5-inch SSDs (7mm thick) are built with Toshiba TLC NAND Flash memory chips, a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, a Toshiba controller, SMART support, TRIM support, DevSleep support and an MTBF of 1.5 million hours.

Providing an immediate and noticeable increase in system speed and responsiveness, the TL100 SSDs promise to deliver read and write speeds of up to 550MB/s and 530MB/s (120GB model) and 550MB/s and 530MB/s (240GB model), respectively.

OCZ VX500 SATA 6.0 Gbps SSDs Launched

Here comes a new line of SATA 6.0 Gbps SSDs from OCZ, the VX500. Available in four different storage capacities: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, these 2.5-inch SSDs are built with Toshiba 15nm MLC NAND Flash memory chips, a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface and a Toshiba TC358790 controller.

In terms of performance, the VX500 SSDs promise to deliver read and write speeds of up to 550MB/s and 485MB/s (128GB model), 550MB/s and 510MB/s (256GB model), 550MB/s and 515MB/s (512GB model) and 550MB/s and 515MB/s (1TB model), respectively.

Backed by a 5-year warranty, the VX500 SSDs are available now for $63.99 (128GB model), $92.79 (256GB model), $152.52 (512GB model) and $337.06 (1TB model), respectively. [OCZ]

Coming in 100GB, 200GB, 400GB and 800GB capacities, these 2.5-inch SSDs are packed with 19nm MLC NAND Flash memory chips, a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, a Marvell 88SS9187 controller, a MTBF of 2.0 million hours, 256-bit AES-compliant and can deliver read/write speeds of up to 510/300 MB/s (100GB), 540/440 MB/s (200GB), 540/490 MB/s (400GB) and 540/485 MB/s (800GB), respectively. OCZ declares bankruptcy, may sell its assets to Toshiba

OCZ dropped off the radar shortly into 2013 as it struggled to correct dodgy accounting and stem ongoing losses. Unfortunately, it couldn't turn things around quickly enough -- the one-time legend in memory technology has declared bankruptcy. That isn't necessarily the end of the story, though. Toshiba has offered to buy all of OCZ's assets as long as the ailing company maintains its value. The bankruptcy represents a sad (potential) end for a firm that was once synonymous with speedy RAM and SSDs, but there's a good chance that its work will live on in future products.
