The Whopper Air Freshener
Think of the Whopper Air Freshener as the ‘reverse freshener’. When most people buy these things to get the fast food smell out of the car, Burger King Brazil would like to help you do the opposite; this freshener smells just like the burger that inspired it. As crazy as it may sound, we’re convinced there’s a market for this. Considering things like Bacon Lube exist, it’s not much of a stretch of the imagination to conceive of hungry gluttons wanting their car to smell like one of the best tasting burgers on the market (yes, we said it).
Much as it would be great to buy this for yourself (or get it free, right? I mean, it’s not like someone would pay for this…), it appears to have been part of a publicity campaign where taxi drivers would hang it on their mirrors and pick up drunk clubgoers. The smell would of course overwhelm their already uninhibited senses and cause them to re-route their trip to the closest Burger King. Genius.

KFC Makes Nail Polish That Tastes Like Chicken
Their slogan is “Finger Lickin’ Good”, so it sort of makes sense, doesn’t it? See, as part of a promotional effort in Hong Kong, the local KFC office has apparently created nail polish that looks just like regular nail color, but happens to taste of delicious fried chicken. That way, well, you can spend your days looking entirely normal with your fingers in your mouth. They come in two flavours: Hot & Spicy, and Original Recipe. They were conceived and developed by McCormick, the spice company behind KFC’s secret spice and herb mix, and are allegedly completely safe to consume. The polishes are not being mass produced yet; the company is showing early prototypes off in promotional pics and asking fans to vote on which flavour they’d actually like to see being made. Whether it does ever make it into the wild, let alone stateside, is anyone’s guess.

Hear The Ocean? Pff, This Seashell Lets You Hear The Radio
In an effort to celebrate 90 years of radio in Japan, and presumably to promote their own existence, Japanese radio station BayFM collected 100 Sazae Shells (also known as Turban shells) and outfitted them with radio equipment. So when you hold one of these up to your ear, as people seem to always do with seashells, you won’t hear the soothing sounds of the ocean but rather the soothing sounds of Justin Bieber or freaking Selena Gomez or some other equally not-irritating melody. They only made 100 of them, which they’re distributing through a raffle system where each winner gets to buy them for 3,980 yen (about $36). They appear to be fully functional, can be recharged through USB, and well, that’s it.

Submarine Rises through Milan Streets
While the images below might look like some sort of horrible, but unlikely disaster, what you’re looking at is the result of an art project on the streets of Milan, Italy.
As part of an ad campaign for European insurance companies Europ Assistance IT and Genertel, ad agency M&C Saatchi Milano installed a full-size submarine in the ground in the center of Milan. Think of it like one of those Allstate Mayhem commercials on steroids.
There was even a live performance to go along with it to help convince bystanders that a submarine had actually crashed through the street, complete with emergency personnel, and a submarine crew:
You can check out more images of the chaos over on designboom.
Why does it seem like awesome ad campaigns like these always happen too far away from me to go see them in person?

Yawn In Front Of It, and this Coffee Machine Will Give You a Free Cup of Joe
This coffee machine, aptly called “Bye Bye Red Eye”, doesn’t want your money. Instead, it wants to give you a cup of coffee – provided you prove that you really need it, that is. How? By yawning in front of it.
Most people drink coffee as a perk-me-up and to vanquish sleepiness, so the folks behind Douwe Egberts’s are using that with their latest marketing campaign. The coffee machine was set up at the O.R. Tambo International Airport in South Africa, where facial recognition software has been installed in place of a regular slot for bills and change.
All people had to do to get a cup of coffee was stand in front of the machine and yawn. The machine dispensed a steaming cup of coffee for their enjoyment.
During the course of the campaign, over 210 yawns were each rewarded with a cup of delicious joe.

Microsoft reveals new logo after 25 years, proves that it’s (still) okay to be square
Remember that time Microsoft teased what most sane humans thought were new logos? That was right around two years ago, but the branding you see above is no mistake -- that's the new Microsoft logo, landing just months after Windows 8's new flag and merely weeks before the aforesaid operating system takes the planet by storm. Astoundingly, it has been a full quarter-century since Microsoft gave itself a new logo, and while we're sure pundits will jump all over it just because "dealing with change is hard," there's no doubt that the outfit's new face is bold in its simplicity. Care to learn more? There's a happy-go-lucky video waiting just after the break.

If -- for some outlandish reason -- you were still doubting the imminent release of the Galaxy Note 10.1, let us invite you to have a peek at the video just after the break. Sure enough, it's an official Samsung teaser showcasing some of the more seductive features of its forthcoming Android slate -- the slate that appeared for but a moment on Amazon. If you're looking for a brief update on how we got here, you may recall us first touching the 10.1-inch Note back at Mobile World Congress in February, with the device caught on camera elsewhere as recently as last month. There's still no definitive ship date to grab hold of, but it's probably time you asked yourself: is okay to yearn after something that an honorable judge has deemed "not as cool" as some other tablet? Decision 2012 -- we report, you decide.
Update: This post originally and erroneously made a connection between the Note 10.1 and the Judge Koh ruling on the Galaxy Tab 10.1. It has been updated.

Cellular promos come and go. Rogers, however, wants to make sure that its 6GB Super Plan is one to remember: the carrier is offering the 6GB of monthly data that has become its summer tradition, only this time as part of a bigger plan that tucks in 200 minutes, unlimited messaging and the usual evening and favorites perks for voice calls. At $60, the combo isn't just a better deal than usual, it's impossible to build otherwise -- the closest that exists is a $73 monthly plan that tops out at 3GB. The promo's August 8th cutoff date doesn't afford much breathing room for would-be adopters, but it should let new Galaxy S III buyers milk that LTE for all it's worth.

It’s no secret that companies who come up with the most creative ads are the ones that get the most attention, therefore, achieving their goal. Procter & Gamble decided to go the unusual route recently, and drummed up a lot of publicity when they launched their QR truck store on the road.
It’s basically a regular old truck that invites people to buy some of P&G’s basic household stuff simply by pointing their smartphones at the QR codes beside the pictured goods. No details on how the P&G will deliver the items to the customer, although it’ll probably be shipped over to their home. While a fairly novel idea, we’ve seen something like this before with the virtual grocery store over in Korea.
The downside is that it’s probably not the greatest thing for the environment, with all the gas it’ll consume while making the rounds in the city.
P&G’s trucks were only deployed until June 27th as part of a promotional campaign. There’s no word on whether this is something they’ll be doing on a regular basis.
