Real-Life SpongeBob and Patrick Should Never Leave Bikini Bottom

I always thought that the characters on Spongebob Squarepants were weird to begin with, but 3D character artist Miguel Vasquez has used his skills to create real life versions of SpongeBob and Patrick Star, and now they are truly nightmare fuel. I wouldn’t want to run into these guys in a dark alley. Or anywhere.

Patrick is working on some serious moobs here. You can see more images of these guys on Miguel’s ArtStation page. He is in the process of making a real-life version of Squidward too and I can’t wait to see it, just so my nightmares can be complete.

It’s gonna be a while until I can unsee this.

Playing Real Life Space Invaders with Drones

If you have ever dreamed of battling Space Invaders in real life, here’s one unique way to do it. For GeekCon 2016, a team led by Tomer Daniel created a game of Space Invaders that can be played for real.

There are some computers involved, but the gameplay itself all takes place in real life. The targets are Arduino-enabled drones with LEDs, and you shoot a laser that turns itself off momentarily after firing, the gunner slides back and forth on a twenty-foot rail underneath the player’s seat, and the drones turn out their lights when they get “hit.”

It’s a pretty cool idea. They should up the excitement with more drones, and have them move faster and faster as they approach your recliner.

Sonic the Hedgehog in Real Life

Watch as an actual hedgehog navigates a “high-budget replica” of a Sonic the Hedgehog stage. He may not have the speed of the real Sonic, but he has the heart and the drive. He will eventually make it to the end of the game. In his own sweet time.

This recent episode of the Mashable series The Watercooler shows what it would be like if Sonic the Hedgehog existed in real life.

Conclusion: The real Sonic takes his own sweet time. With this guy, it’s more about the journey than the destination. Why rush? The bad guy isn’t going anywhere. And being blue is way overrated. This is a nice calm game for a leisurely afternoon.

Playing Pac-Man with a Top-down View in Real Life

If you are a fan of Pac-Man, you need to check out this video of a basic Pac-Man level recreated in real life. The idea is to find out what would happen if a guy ran around the maze in real life while watching the traditional top-down perspective you see while playing in the arcade.

In this video from Rooster Teeth, this guy has to try to avoid ghosts and beat the level, all while wearing video goggles that only display a top-down view of the maze. Imagine how messed up you would get. Spoiler alert! He kinda sucks at it. Granted, the maze is kind of small and not totally accurate. He also can’t send the ghosts back to the middle when he eats them, so…

We are basically years away from an authentic experiment. We just don’t have the ghost or power pellet or even maze technology, but it is still fun to watch.

Mario Is Destroying This Guy’s House

If you have ever wondered what it would be like if Mario jumped out of your console and ran around your house, check out the video below. It is just as cool as you thought it would be. Just be prepared for some damage to your home.

This video by YouTuber Jhoofnail shows us what it would be like, and also that you really don’t want to unleash Big Bullet Bill in the real world. That guy can cause some serious mayhem if he gets out of the house.

If this ever happens to you, just remember, it could have been worse. Bowser could have shown up and completely wrecked your house just by moving his tail trying to hit Mario.
