This robot is an autonomous product designed for enhancing digital interactions like a modern R2-D2!

Imagine if R2-D2 got a 2021 makeover? Well, BEBOP Design did something like that…they took the concept and gave it a sleek makeover to give us all Information Robot! This is an autonomous robot designed specifically for the Korean startup Zetabank that aims to make human lives safer and healthier with the help of robots.

Zetabank has a range of robots and this is their second collaboration with BEBOP. The company’s mission is to imrpove our lives using artificial intelligence. Their Disinfectant Robot, Hospitality Robot, and Untact Robot are all designed keeping in mind how they can maximize utility and bring practicality to make our day-to-day more efficient. Continuing that legacy is Information Robot which is created as a service platform for digital interactions building upon the Hospitality Robot’s intelligence. These digital interactions are enhanced by the robot’s autonomous movement in various commercial and residential spaces.

Information Robot not only takes the best from its hospitality counterpart but also includes the best from the Disinfectant Robots. It features tech that enables it to purify the air and it becomes more efficient due to its ability to move around smoothly in large environments so it hits two targets with one arrow! Information Robot maintains a coherent design language while accommodating its unique functional purpose. It presents a friendly and approachable personality while its large display is the focal point that invites people to interact with it. R2-D2 would certainly be envious of the minimal aesthetic and the tech upgrade!

Beauty with a Reason

blossom_speaker_layout

The appropriately named Blossom Speaker takes inspiration from a blossomed flower and adapts it into a geometric and simplified form. The primary focus behind its design is to create an immersing sound experience for the user without relying on complex engineering and technology, but instead the form of the device.

The audio is projected upwards away from the base of the speaker, the cone shape then projects the sounds in all directions creating a 360-degree listening experience. This audio-dispersing cone that protrudes out of the top of the device retracts into the cylindrical body, this increases its portability while it simultaneously protects the delicate speaker cover.

The minimalistic approach to the design allows for it to suit any style of interior design, and the compact size combined with the absence of wires makes it a very portable speaker! We believe that it would be a beautiful and welcomed addition to any room.

Virtual Reality at your Fingertips

zerokey_glove_layout

It will probably come as no surprise to you that the Virtual Reality market is growing rapidly; partially due to an increased interest in the field and products becoming more accessible. Zerokey, a Canadian Start-up, are developing a special technology that enables millimetre-level digital interaction, by using your fingers. This technology is being brought to life in the form of the sleek and advanced Zerokey VR Glove.

The complex, technological inner workings of Zerokey are covered by a carefully considered and sleek design. The monochromatic colour scheme allows for a professional aesthetic, while pops of vibrant blue colour give the sense of advanced, intricate technology. The blue elements are actually conductive fibres, they act as wires for sensors that feed the main module.

The core material of the glove is a highly-breathable and elastic microfiber to ensure that the user will remain comfortable during long gaming sessions!

Lightsaber, meet the earphone

Music can be heard… and it can be felt. But seldom can it be seen. The Glow headphones bring the sensory element of sight to the music listening experience. Much like the way an equalizer helps people “see” music, the Glow earphones contain special cables that light up and pulsate with your audio.

Bringing innovation to the portable audio industry the way JBL did with the Pulse Bluetooth speaker back in 2013, Glow makes use of an innovative material called Fibrance. Developed by Corning (the people behind GorillaGlass), Fibrance is a fiber optic cable that instead of conducting light through it, dissipates it evenly across the length of the cable, allowing it to illuminate brightly and evenly by scattering a laser light. The Fibrance material doesn’t give off heat either, making it the perfect choice for the Glow.

Controlled by an app, the light can be made to remain static, or pulsate in sync with the music. The app also controls the intensity of the laser light (which shines well even in broad daylight). The laser cables in their sense become the branding for the Glow earphones. While most companies struggle with putting their logos on the tiny earpieces, the Glow earphones are a complete winner because not only are they a great sounding pair of phones (they are), the entire product in itself is a work of branding and iconic industrial design!

The slimmest VR Headset ever made

figment_vr_1

Where there is VR, there will be a screen, and what better than your phone screen? They’re beautifully hi-res, come with rich colors, and most importantly, they’re always with you. However, carrying a VR headset with you seems like too much of a hassle. That’s unless you’ve got the Figment VR case snapped around your phone.

In a trend to put more and more into or around one’s phones, the Figment headset is almost as wild as the Selfly that literally put a drone onto the back pf your smartphone. Super-thin for the competition in its category (not counting the Google Cardboard, because the cardboard only comes flat packed. It doesn’t go back to a flat design once it’s assembled) the Figment snaps the VR eyepiece to the back of your phone and with the simple click of a switch, makes it spring forward and into place, allowing you to use your phone as a VR headset.

The design is a true champion of innovative thinking. Imagine allowing the billions of smartphone users to have instant access to VR content at the press of a switch. There are obviously some caveats to the Figment. For starters, the wall that separates the left-eye content from the right-eye content is absent in the design. Plus, given that those lenses sit on the back of you’re phone, they would probably have to be made out of some incredibly resilient tempered glass. However I believe the Figment has opened the floodgates for making similar products that make VR incredibly accessible, because until we actually start getting a taste of Augmented Reality, VR is the most obvious future!

Twofold Torchlight

muji_aluminium_lamp_1

In terms of philosophy, people draw a lot of parallels between Muji and Apple. Both create products that are worth worshiping, and that celebrate minimalism and the removal of all clutter. The Muji Aluminum light draws one more parallel, being crafted out of aircraft grade aluminum with the anodized finish we’re so familiar with.

The light’s unique design allows it to be used as a torch as well as a lamp, by virtue of a simple sliding sleeve that converts the light from a point-source to an area light. The product even comes with a fabric hoop making it easy to suspend as well as carry around. Everything about the product has a twofold purpose, which I absolutely love. The Muji LED Aluminum light works great both ways, and that’s what makes it such an elegant design solution!

Equating A Cleanup

The Equate is a vacuum cleaner for table crumbs and has been designed with the purpose of celebrating its form rather than hiding it. Most often we tend to find a cozy nook for such appliances, but designer Rich Park feels that we need to set this artistic work on a proud pedestal. It’s one of the rare examples where form, function and art are fine-tuned. Essentially, a very conceptual aerodynamic vacuum sits on a chrome cone-shaped charger.

Equate’s purpose is to be set on a table almost as a piece of artwork, while offering a casual function of cleaning up tiny crumbs or dust on tables and flat surfaces. The dual function of small and big suctions allows users to clean in a very natural way, without having to fuss with accessories. Also, the simple touch button interface is easy to understand. The vent holes are hidden inside the belly of the vacuum where it does not interfere with the main concept of clean and conceptual aesthetic look. The dustbin is also located on the belly; where with a simple push of a button will unlock and release the bin.
