Sharknado Jumps the Shark (Again) with a VR Video Game

Can you believe that there have been SIX Sharknado movies already? Count ’em! Six terrible movies. They’re all about being completely terrible with over-the-top shark action and horrible CGI. But for some reason that I will never understand, they are modern cult classics. But guess what? Sharknado has a VR video game too.

No joke. It’s called Sharknado VR: Eye of the Storm and is developed and published by Autumn VR. The game was actually announced back in August at the premiere of Sharknado 6 in LA. It’s a first-person shooter where you get to use a bunch of cool weapons like chainsaws in order to kick some shark butt.

“In ‘Sharknado VR: Eye of the Storm,’ players find themselves in the middle of the gory action as they battle freak, fin-filled weather phenomena…players fight through familiar scenarios and scenes from the “Sharknado” movies, in locales from LA to NYC to Kansas and more. “Sharknado” wranglers will save soaking-wet bystanders while dodging and clashing with sharks, jellyfish and barracudas, and even come across awesome Easter eggs along the way.”

The game actually looks better than the movies. Sharknado VR: Eye of the Storm is available right now on Steam if you need some shark killing action in your life. It will cost you $18.99, and will be coming to PSVR later in the year.

Sharknado: The Board Game: Roll Your Dice, Move Your Ass

Sometimes movies are so cheesy and terrible that they end up being cult classics. This is exactly what happened with Sharknado. I watched that movie with my daughter one night because she is both afraid and interested in both sharks and tornados. The combo was a perfect fit. The movie was terrible in all senses of the word, but we loved it. Things only got cheesier with the sequels. Now, you can back a Sharknado board game on Kickstarter.

The officially-licensed board game is a cooperative game that has you hunting down the Boss Shark and working together to survive the sharkpocalypse. Players scavenge the city for weapons and equipment.

Designed for 2 to 4 players, the game is packed with crazy combinations of survival and fighting tactics, which when combined create all kinds of crazy and memorable scenarios.

So far, the game has raised nearly half of its goal with 22 days to go, so it seems likely that the goal will be met. A pledge of $54 or more will get you a game by April 2017, assuming it meets the funding goal.

Sharknado 3 Bobbleheads Are Coming to Get You

My daughter and I were looking for something to watch the other day and we landed on the original Sharknado. I don’t remember that blonde dude’s name off the top of my head, but I remember him as the dude who drove a Corvette ZR1 in 90210 back in the day.

Sharknado may be the cheesiest movie I have ever seen, but it was surprisingly entertaining. Anytime sharks fly out of the sky to eat people a movie can’t be all bad. I laughed a lot, which made my daughter mad because the movie was “dramatic not funny.” If you follow the franchise, you know they also produced two sequels.

These Sharknado 3 bobbleheads each have a shark’s head along with its fins sticking out of a tornado. The heads bobble up and down and will cost you $17.99(USD) each at ThinkGeek. They are as cheesy as the movies, and like the movies, they are still pretty cool.
