Let’s face it. Water is good, but single-use plastic isn’t. The folks at LARQ want to bridge that gap by making hydration easy for you and the planet. After working on a “self-cleaning” pitcher and bottle in the past, the company is back with the LARQ Bottle PureVis 2, or what just happens to be the most cutting-edge bottle we’ve seen. LARQ calls it the “ultimate hydration companion — which by all accounts appears to be true, with UV purification, filtration, hydration reminders, and app connectivity all rolled up in a neat well-designed package. The larger of the two sizes of bottles holds 1 liter of water, and periodically sanitizes using a UV light built into the bottle’s cap. Dubbed the “PureVis technology”, this system eliminates up to 99.9999% of bio-contaminants. Then, proprietary Nano Zero filters remove chlorine and PFOA/PFOS from your drinking water with each sip, ensuring your water is pure and tastes great. Each bottle is also accompanied by a hydration tracking system via the LARQ app which sets reminders to help you achieve your hydration goals. It’s a complex system that’s all designed with a singular goal — to help you drink more water without any of those single-use plastics making their way into our landfills and our Earth.

The LARQ Bottle PureVis 2 is an elegant upgrade to the company’s Bottle PureVis from 2017. The bottle keeps its flagship technology, PureVis to clean drinking water by killing bacteria and microorganisms like E.coli and Salmonella in seconds. In this second iteration, LARQ has added several nifty upgrades that we’ve all been waiting for. For the first time ever, LARQ Bottle PureVis 2 now has purification and filtration in one.

The two stages include a UV-purification stage that carries over from the PureVis Pitcher, a fan favorite for the home. The UV light kicks in automatically every two hours, or can be activated simply by pressing the button on top of the bottle’s lid, giving your water (as well as the bottle itself) a round of disinfection to obliterate 99.9999% of bio-contaminants. Sure, that’s a whole lot of 9s, but any math or science buff can tell you that it’s impossible to achieve 100% certainty. Clean water, however, as LARQ founder Justin Wang will tell you, isn’t the biggest problem when it comes to drinking adequate amounts of water — it’s that people simply forget to drink water. This handsome flask concept will help you get that water habit down

Everyone knows we need water to survive. Some are even aware that we need a certain amount of water each day to stay healthy. Few, however, boast that they are able to meet the minimum amount that their bodies need, often drinking only during meals or when they’re already feeling thirsty due to dehydration. Most of the time, it’s mostly due to being too busy to even remember to drink, and not many people make an effort to set regular reminders to do so every day. Of course, we now have technologies that can make that a thing of the past, like this smart bottle that reminds you to drink up while looking stylish on your desk.

It’s still an extremely small and niche market, but there are already a number of water bottles that are adding a few tricks to get people to drink more and stay healthy. Almost all of these come in a typical water bottle shape, that is, a large cylinder with a small mouthpiece. Some add colors and patterns to add a bit of variety and life, but that’s not the only design possible for this kind of container.

WATR takes its form after a hip flask, one that’s completely flat rather than curved. It’s a shape that most will probably associate more closely with alcoholic drinks, but there are water bottles that do have this kind of design. While some might argue that it is less efficient in terms of the volume it can hold, it’s hard to argue that its unconventional shape makes it eye-catching, especially when done in a very distinctive style such as this.

The smart water bottle’s absence of curves, save for the bottle cap, gives it an industrial aesthetic, while the thin bar of light at the top makes it feel almost futuristic. That light bar indicates the amount of water you have consumed, which can be set through a mobile app, as well as the bottle’s battery level. All the action, however, happens on that mobile app, particularly when it comes to reminding you to take a gulp.

The WATR design also takes a few steps toward sustainability, particularly in how easy it would be to replace parts as well as the use of recycled aluminum for the main body. All the electronics are crammed into a module that can be swapped easily with a replacement. Whether that’s the best place for such electronics, however, will probably depend on how waterproof it will be. There’s still some room left for improvement, particularly with the smartness of the water bottle. It can, perhaps, be made to detect how much water is actually left inside to warn the owner that it’s time to fill it up again. Nonetheless, it’s a refreshing take on the standard smart water bottle design, one that could stand proudly on your desk even when you’re not actually using it.

I keep three bottles around the house. Whenever I see them, I just go ahead and have a sip of water. It’s a strangely effective way of keeping myself hydrated… but that isn’t everyone’s story. Staying hydrated is a key to maintaining peak health and energy levels, but chances are you won’t drink water ‘until’ you feel thirsty. The Ghydion Gallon is a smart gallon water bottle that tracks your daily hydration by prompting you to drink water at regular intervals. It internally tracks how much water you’ve consumed each day, with the goal of getting you to drink a gallon of water every day. The bottle also lets you mix in powders to make protein shakes, electrolyte drinks, or infused waters, and Ghydion’s app also gives you exercise recommendations to put you on the path to a healthy life.

Unlike the water bottles you may have around at home, in your gym bag, or at work, the Ghydion Gallon is a water bottle that’s designed with a focus around healthy living. The bottle tracks how many times you drink and how much water you drink, displaying your hydration journey on a small screen at the bottom. An alert light ring around the base of the Gallon lets you know that it’s been a while since you drank water, and the bottle’s dual lid gives you a sipper as well as a wide-mouth opening to drink however you want to.

The Ghydion Gallon sports an all-metal design, with a stainless steel body featuring a clear window to see your bottle’s water level, and a base that houses the display along with a built-in power bank that lets you recharge your phone while you recharge yourself with H2O. The base is entirely removable too, making your Gallon easy to clean and maintain. The top of the bottle features a lid with a dual mouthpiece and even supports the addition of pods like Ghydion’s infusion pod for infusing your water with natural flavors, or a shutter pod, which can be used to add a protein powder to your water with a simple twist.

The bottle is also accompanied by the Ghydion Pulse app, which lets you compare hydration goals with other people in your friend group, view local leaderboards, and even tap into Ghydion Coach, an app-based personalized trainer that syncs with the bottle to make sure you’re hydrated while exercising. A portal within the app also allows you to access health and fitness-related information, with the option of being able to generate workout plans, meal plans, and weight loss tips.

The Ghydion Gallon was envisioned by Donovan Stewart, a fitness enthusiast and US veteran who wanted to create a way to consistently stay hydrated. This Nike-inspired integrated smart fitness system gives at-home gym workouts the boost it needs!

There have been some pretty innovative design solutions for home gyms in the age of COVID-19, ranging from adaptive gym modules that utilize smart technology for instruction to more discreet gym equipment that disguises as home furniture. While most of us are staying at home for these workouts, ensuring we all have the equipment needed can still get messy and some of us have neighbors living below and next to us, so we have to compromise when it comes to how loud we get. Swift Creatives, a Scandinavian design studio located in Aarhus, Denmark, recently debuted Smart Fitness, an integrated smart workout system that equips your home workout with all the gym-related accessories you might need.

The team at Swift Creatives got inspired by Nike and designed Smart Fitness for athletes at every level of any given sport to have a single system supplied with five smart workout accessories: a foam roller that doubles as a speaker, weighted jump rope, headphones, and water bottle. Foam rollers are a Godsend and essential for use following a heavy workout. Designed to help relieve muscle tension, increase your joint range of motion, and promote blood flow – foam rolling is an athlete’s bread and butter. Since foam rollers are supposed to be firm for purpose and by design, Swift Creatives took the opportunity to enclose a speaker inside the heavy-duty foam so that music can play while rolling.

The included jump rope is balanced and customizable for different workout weights and athlete heights. The jump rope’s cables can be switched out to either lighten the lift or load it on. Additionally, a built-in counter and timer keep track of every rope session so you won’t ever lose count. With integrated music connectivity, Smart Fitness can link up each workout accessory, like the breathable smart headphones, to your smartphone or smartwatch so that you can easily play music from your preferred streaming platform. Bringing its own unique edge to the workout, Smart Fitness’s magnetic water bottle also comes equipped with smart control switches that activate a UV-C LED light cleaning cycle so you can keep your focus on the workout.

Staying hydrated is definitely one of my New Year resolutions for 2020! And it should be one of yours as well. However, remembering to drink water consecutively after an allotted number of hours can be difficult with our busy day-to-day schedules. This is where product designer Yoonjae Song provided us with a solution, the ‘G Flask’. As cool as its name sounds, the G flask is an even cooler smart water bottle, here to meet all your aqua related needs!

Designed to enhance the user’s lifestyle, the G flask is a pure white cylinder with a rounded cap, ensuring a perfect hand grip. Shaped like a capsule, the clean aesthetics of the G flask instantly soothe you down. Devoid of any digital screens or lighting, sipping from it should be a pretty calm experience. Crafted from durable stainless steel, the flask guarantees to keep your water fresh at all times, as it is incapable of retaining any odors or flavors.

Accompanied by an app, utilizing the flask couldn’t get any easier! It not only tracks your daily water intake, and how much water you’ve consumed so far, but you can also use it to set goals and compete with your friends, to see who reaches their intake for the day first! You can replace the dead battery within minutes! And did I mention it is pretty easy to carry around as well? A long magnetic strip allows you to attach the flask onto any magnetic surface. Keeping yourself hydrated has never been this fun and easy!
