Power Under Water!

ameo

Look at the snorkel design and you’ll realize one thing. There’s just one pipe that serves as an inlet as well as outlet. In most situations this wouldn’t be a problem, but in high-performance sports you’d face one nagging problem. A combined inlet-outlet means that there’s always residual air in the tube, and after a few breaths, you end up breathing primarily residual exhaled air. This air is CO2 rich and deficient in Oxygen, causing fatigue, and a lowered performance. The Ameo Powerbreather ditches the old design for something radically effective. First off, it provides a single path for air. Air intake take place through the tube. All exhaled air is expelled into the water, so you’re not breathing recycled air. To make the Powerbreather even better, the design incorporates two inlet tubes instead of one, allowing you to breathe faster. The tubes travel around the side of the head, so they don’t obstruct your vision. The inlets also prevent water seepage, allowing seasoned swimmers to even perform flips while swimming. A lock at the back ensures the Powerbreather stays strapped to your head comfortably yet securely. What say, water-freaks??

The Sweet Spot Between Snorkel and Scuba

Even if you’ve mastered the “duck dive”, that average snorkel’s major limitation is that you can’t stay deep for very long to experience what’s underwater. Until now! STEPDive is a revolutionary design that allows users to stay many feet under the water as long as they’d like without coming up for air. The system uses a floating buoy in which hoses attached to the snorkel are tethered. Divers using STEPDive can go as deep as the hose allows and stay there to explore! Better yet, multiple users can tether to the buoy so you and friends or loved ones can experience underwater together. Intuitive to use and even easier to tote around, it’s a great first step toward true scuba diving!

One Breath

m_01

“M1″ doesn’t aim to redefine the scuba or reinvent the snorkel. It’s something entirely new and unlike any other underwater breathing apparatus! The design allows users to take one additional breath when diving, extending their time underwater by one minute. That may not seem like a lot, but it’s plenty of time to go places and see things users might not have been able to experience before! Using refillable cartridges, there are also expansions as users stretch their underwater breathing ability to extend their time to as much as two additional minutes. Do want!

Scuba(ish)

TIO_1

Every snorkeler wants the opportunity to go just a little deeper for an even better view of what they can see from the surface! The problem is, not every snorkeler wants to gets their scuba certification. If only there was an intermediary option… like TIO by designer Ivo Wawer. It’s a diving system that combines the simplicity of snorkeling and the advantages of under water breathing while diving. A small compressed air cylinder allows for a few minutes of breathing under water, while extending the snorkeling experience. It’s the best of both worlds! Using this unique system, snorkelers have the opportunity to observe corals and shoals of fish, shoot photos under water, dive on kayak adventure tours or to simply enjoy the experience of breathing under water without all the diving equipment. It’s the best companion for snorkelers and novice divers everywhere!

Snorkel Allows To Breathe Underwater Through Your Nose

easy-breathing-snorkel

This is a little gizmo for those of us that would rather use our noses to breathe, even when underwater: don’t let technicalities stop you from scuba-diving!

easy-breathing-snorkel

This contraption is called the Easybreath Snorkeling Mask, and it’s easy indeed! Basically, it’s a snorkel that eliminates the awkward breathing through your mouth only and lets you enjoy life under the water breathing just as you do in the surface. We bet it’s still a bit weird, though. Now, off you go, mermaid hunter! Bring us presents from the coral reefs!

Google Street View gets its first underwater panoramic images, ready for desk-based scuba expeditions

After working on its sea legs for some time, Google Street View is ready to take users on virtual scuba expeditions through six living coral reefs with the first underwater panoramic images to hit the service. In partnership with The Catlin Seaview Survey, Mountain View created the on-rails snorkeling experiences using undersea pictures from Heron, Lady Elliot and Wilson Islands at the Great Barrier Reef, Molokini Crater and Hanauma Bay in Hawaii and the Apo Islands in the Philippines. Combined with views from Chichen Itza and Teotihuacan, the new underwater tours might make for a respectable, desk-based vacation. Interested in paddling through the briny depths? Head past the break for a short preview or hit the source links below to dive right in.

Powerbreather Sealed Snorkel Optimizes Swimming

This device might look a bit odd, but I wonder why no one created it before now. It basically allows swimmers to stay completely submerged during their laps, which is pretty cool. With the Powerbreather, you don’t strain your neck or come up for air at all.

The Powerbreather seeks to improve your swimming efficiency, and reduce pressure on your neck caused by turning side to side to breathe. Using the Sealed Snorkel, fresh air is inhaled through a valve that’s located behind the head. There’s a second valve near the mouth which pushes out exhaled air.

It’s supposed to make learning how to swim easier for children, and basically anyone who’s had problems with neck strain no longer will have any thanks to its centralized breathing system. While I wouldn’t say it’s fashionable, it’s definitely an intriguing device if you love swimming.
