Stargate Lamps Open a Portal to Another World on Your Desk

Do you want to travel to strange and exotic places across the universe? Then you need something more than your mom’s old station wagon to get you around. What you need is some kind of transportation portal. While Rick and Morty’s portal gun would be my personal preference due to its portability, a Stargate should do the trick.

These sweet accent lamp come from Etsy seller CraftyPics, who makes both a Stargate Atlantis version and a Stargate SG-1 model.

They’re substantial too, measuring in at over 9″ tall. Each one is made from a combination of laser cut and engraved wood, along with an acrylic diffuser in the middle, illuminated by a circle of electric blue LEDs. I just love that ripple effect the light and texture create. They also have LEDs to light up the chevrons around the perimeter.

Each lamp costs about $92 USD based on current exchange rates, and is made to order, plus it ships from the UK, so it could take as much as a month to get yours. So if you want to give one as a gift for the holidays, there’s no better time to order. Drop by the CraftyPics shop to spin up your own personal Stargate today.

Full-size 3D Printed Stargate Will Take You to a Museum

The Musée royal de Mariemont in Belgium is holding an exhibition called “From Stargate to Comics: Egyptian Gods In Geek Culture”. Sounds pretty cool no? And you can travel there by Stargate.

Okay, you can’t get there by Stargate, but they do have one on site. One of the center pieces of the exhibition is a 3D printed 20-foot tall replica of a Stargate from the show and movie of the same name. The gate is made up of over 2,000 parts featuring 10,000 cuttings.

This project may have taken the team over 1,000 hours to complete, but it takes just one second to walk through it and go somewhere else in the universe: the other side.

Roland Emmerich Drops Stargate Reboot Hints

I am a huge Stargate fan. The first date with my wife of 20 years was to see the original Stargate movie. I loved just about every episode of SG-1, and watched all the spin offs. I’ve missed me some Stargate over the last few years, with nothing in that universe to watch. That is going to change with Roland Emmerich now dropping little tidbits about the franchise’s future.

We’ve known since 2014 that more movies were coming, and the question in my mind was were they to be sequels or reboots. Apparently, the franchise will be rebooted, ignoring the original movies and TV series. That’s not a bad thing mind you. Emmerich dropped hints about the reboot while schilling for Independence Day: Resurgence.

Producer Dean Devlin is also on board, and James A. Woods and Nicolas Wright, the same duo who wrote Resurgence, will pen the new Stargate flick. Devlin says that the story isn’t something that can take place 20 years later so they will go back and start the story over. I’m certainly going to see the film.

Stargate Cufflinks: Travel with the Flick of Your Wrist

Stargates can transport you from one planet to another planet on the other side of the galaxy and now it looks like this technology has finally been shrunken down to cufflink size.

These cool Stargate cufflinks are from Etsy seller CufflinksForMen and they look like they are active and ready to go. If you wear these, you will not only be the sharpest dressed in the room, but you’ll also be able to do cool tricks like transport small objects from one wrist to another.

Hey, I think I just discovered how magicians do their magic tricks, which probably means that some magician’s guild wants me dead now.
