Satechi Mini NVMe SSD Enclosure is a pocket-friendly storage solution for power users

Tech and lifestyle brand Satechi has just announced new gadgets for content creators and power users who need something more than a USB drive. These include the Mini NVMe SSD and a couple of Mobile XR Hubs to solve your portable storage and power requirements.

The Mobile XR Hub with Audio and the Mobile XR Hub with microSD are compatible with iPhone, laptop and Switch. This saves the user from straining about battery drain. These gadgets come with the option of choosing between 3.5mm audio support or a microSD port for importing files.

Designer: Satechi

Our main focus is the Mini NVMe SSD which is no bigger than a matchbox. The compact little gadget makes use of Gen 2 USB-C technology for a seamless data transfer speed compared to a SATA SSD. There’s an option to choose your preferred storage with the swappable SSD design that accepts 2TB of storage capacity. The enclosure comes with a write lock to prevent any accidental deletion of data. This maintains the data integrity during transfers and also protects against malware. For iPhone users, it has an interesting feature of capturing Apple ProRes Log files straight onto your iPhone 15 or higher version.

The essential accessory for content creators and geeky nerds comes in an aluminum frame which is lightweight, scratch-resistant courtesy tempered glass plus protection and has chamfered edges. It has a braided USB-C lanyard cable to hook onto your backpack or keychain. Another added feature important for power users is the built-in cooling fan.

This utilitarian pocket-friendly storage tool has excellent build quality and is very convenient to use. Perhaps a very nice gift for your geeky pal this holiday season coming in at $60.  The Mobile XR Hub with Audio and the Mobile XR Hub with microSD priced at $50 each are also good options if your budget is a little strained.

Pocket-sized 2TB SSD offers new age EDC-style data storage for creative professionals and vloggers

Current-day gadgets bring limitless possibilities for creatives and professionals, be a photographer, videographer or audio engineer. The only thing that can be a hurdle is the amount of storage you have at hand. Portable hard drives are a good solution but there’s always scope for better. The size of HHDs and SSDs has reduced significantly in the last few years and this cool EDC for your data storage requirements is a game changer.

Meet Speekeys, a portable SSD enclosure that measures half that of a credit card and has a thickness comparable to a GoPro. The lightweight gadget weighing just 48 grams challenges the status quo of a standard EDC that can be carried in a pocket. Yes, this high-speed data hub keeps your data safe on the go and can be stuffed in your pocket or simply hooked to a backpack with a standard lanyard. The drop-proof hub has a water-resistance rating of IP54, making it ideal for content creators who travel a lot.

The M.2 NVMe SSD enclosure comes with USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C connectivity enabling high transfer speeds of up to 1000MB/s. So, you won’t have to wait for a long time to transfer big files back and forth. Speekeys has a maximum storage capacity of 2TB which should suffice all your storage needs. Just for comparison, 2TB is enough to store more than a 100 PC games, over 500 HD movies, 100 hours of 4K footage (at 60fps), or if you’re the corporate kind, 13 million documents. It is fitted with a built-in cooling solution to maintain optimal temperature for optimal performance. The maker provides the cute little accessory with a data cable lanyard for plug-and-play convenience across all your devices.

The entire device measures 58mm x 41mm (2.2 inches x 1.6 inches) and weighs a paltry 48 grams. Contrast this with what most 2TB storage solutions would weigh just a few years back and you realize how far we’ve come. The Speekey itself is just an enclosure, which means you have the choice of which SSD to mount inside. More than happy with just 500GB? Or maybe your budget permits just 1TB of storage – buy the M.2 SSD and insert it into the Speekey and you’ve now got yourself the most portable high-capacity hard drive ever.

The gadget EDC is made of an aluminum shell that comes with a silicone case for maximum protection. The USB-C connection means your SSD can be used with a whole range of devices, from phones and tablets to laptops, gaming consoles, drones, and even handheld cameras. Its compact design means carrying it is a breeze, and unlike with cloud storage (that you can access on multiple devices), you ACTUALLY own your data instead of having it on a cloud server somewhere. Oh, and a built-in magnetic design means your Speekey can attach to the back of your iPhone or any metallic object, making carrying it a breeze.

The SSD enclosure starts at a mere $29, which means you can then invest in a high-end SSD to mount on the inside. Each Speekey includes a data cable that transforms into a lanyard for easy carrying, and you’ve got as many as 5 colors to choose from including, obviously, an all-transparent version!

Muji’s latest set of multifunctional storage solutions are designed to declutter your tiny living space!

Currently on display at Milan Design Week, ‘Compact Life’ is a line of home storage products from Muji designed in collaboration with industrial design students inspired by today’s movement to downsize and declutter living spaces at home.

For those of us who’ve been living tiny before it was popular, we know the right home accessories for storage make all the difference between a cluttered and clutter-free home. Today, majorly in response to the raging climate crisis, people are incorporating aspects of tiny living into their home spaces to dampen their overall climate footprint. Providing the means to do so, Japanese household goods supplier Muji released a collection of storage accessories called ‘Compact Life’ that makes tiny living seem a lot more attainable for all of us.

Documenting and taking note of their own living spaces, the students worked closely with Muji designers and the Swiss designer Michel Charlot to finalize an array of twelve home products that optimize storage space to make tiny living a lot more comfortable. Each product stays true to Muji’s minimalist personality and humanistic approach to design, keeping geometric shapes and multifunctional builds.

Amidst the catalog of accessories is a basket storage system that doubles as a wood-and-crate step ladder, ideal for the kitchen space or bathroom to store toiletries and reach taller heights. Then, there’s a series of photo frames that can store paper goods like notes and business cards in an integrated slot that traces the perimeter of each frame. Using their own homes and colleagues’ homes as their main source of inspiration, the design students even made niche items like an insect house made from wire and hollow bamboo that could be hung outside an apartment window for hummingbirds and honeybees to drop by and visit.

Each one of the twelve designs is on display at Milan Fashion Week and the home accessories that comprise the Compact Life collection span from a modest corner shelf designed for the shower to a mirror medicine cabinet that also functions as a whiteboard. Product designs like a valet stand for hanging clothing items and a pole storage system with compartments tailor-made for umbrellas would help organize home spaces like the entryway for a clutter-free welcome.

Then, there are products designed for office spaces, like a paper wall pocket that functions as a filing system for narrow office items such as notebooks and stationery and a folding chair that transforms into a small side table for impromptu lunch meetings. A steel-wire basket trolley tucks under the bed and stores clothing items to take some of the load off the closet. Finally, a bedside table with a concealed compartment for charging smartphones takes focus away from technology and brings us closer to a restful night’s sleep.

Entryway products like the multipurpose coat rack help declutter the home’s foyer.

An under-the-bed steel-wire basket trolley takes some of the load out of the closet.

The Stepladder Basket is a stepladder that also functions as a storage basket for smaller household items.

The Valet Stand is another entryway product that could help declutter crowded spaces.

Clip Hanging Frames allow for ways to hang your photos and also store paper goods.

A mirrored medicine cabinet also functions as a whiteboard for notetaking.

Kitchen Storage Solutions designed to keep your kitchen organised + Marie Kondo approved!

Maintaining a neat and tidy kitchen comes in pretty handy when you’re cooking, and you actually know where everything is! Or else a therapeutic cooking session can turn into a mini-mental breakdown. And to help you keep your kitchen organized and spick and span, we’ve curated a collection of super handy storage products. From a storage system that operates with suction and can be used on any surface to a smart food storage device, these innovative kitchen organizers are the ideal storage solutions that your kitchen needs! Utilize them to organize your kitchen in a way that would make Marie Kondo proud!

If Tupperware completely revolutionized how we stored food in rigid containers, the Silicone Zip Top completely revolutionizes how we store… period. The flexible design of the Silicone Zip Top comes with a flat base, allowing it to stand on tables and other surfaces, and has the signature zip-to-seal band running across the top. The thick silicone construction and reliable zip/clip mechanism at the top make it much more secure than regular zip-lock bags, and the fact that it doesn’t come without a lid (which just might get lost) gives it an edge over plastic containers. The platinum silicone used to build the Silicone Zip Top bags make them infinitely reusable, practically indestructible, unstainable too, impervious to heat or cold, dishwashable, and most importantly, food-grade.

Let your OCD run wild with the SOUL Kitchen by SVOYA Studio! This modular design is an organizer’s wet dream. It allows for an open kitchen layout with detachable units that anyone can transform to their liking. A variety of unique shelving units can be combined in any order to hold glasses, organize dinnerware, store wine, and more. Better yet, as your needs and style change over time, so can your kitchen! “The design of SOUL Kitchen operates on the principle of “nothing more” without sacrificing on functionality. All within a single kitchen, one can create a combination of units or separate them into groups according to the preference of each family member. With this total kitchen concept, individuality can be maximized. Since starting from a clean slate is always possible, one can also change the spatial interpretation of the kitchen as his or her life philosophy evolves,” explained SVOYA Studio.

Gabriel Steinmann created P0 (pronounced pio like the letter and number) which stands for ‘project zero’  – a storage and shopping solution for food that aims to reduce consumption emissions. P0 helps us to switch to and maintain a plant-based diet and reduce the amount of food waste. The design blends organic and sustainable materials with an earthy aesthetic to invoke warmth and a more personal relationship with the items we use. Its ceramic body and textile lining help encourage a deeper appreciation for the food we consume and make us more aware of how much food we actually need to minimize wasting it. It is also a practical and attractive utensil in your kitchen – “a symbol of change, of becoming a little bit more human,” as rightly described by Steinmann.

Building on a concept that’s done the rounds for quite a while now (and has even seen success in 2008 at the Electrolux Design Lab), Samsung’s Cube Refrigerator takes a modular approach to cold-preservation. Quite like the Flatshare Fridge that secured the winning position at the Electrolux Design Lab more than a decade ago, Samsung’s Cube fridge is stackable and allows you to add carious units together to create the fridge of your choice. With its minimal styling, the Cube can be placed anywhere, from your kitchen countertop, to even right beside your couch in the living room, or even in your workshop, where you’d possibly like to keep a couple of brewski’s to sip on when you’re working on your DIY projects.

There is a Korean practice of covering food with a cloth (Sang bo) which has been a tradition for centuries and has worked well – a ramie or silk fabric covering keeps it ventilated in the summers while a thicker fabric keeps it insulated in the winters. Inspired by this, the Mother’s Heart was designed to keep food fresh and retain its original nutrient quality. It is a simple device that is crafted like a dome food covering and an accompanying base plate. The covering has a dial on top and that lets you adjust the settings based on the food you’ve cooked. You can select between refrigeration or warmth and there is a timer feature that lets you select for how long you want to keep it running.

Slock’s designer, Minki Kim, viewed the area from a different viewpoint and identified that common food storage systems focused primarily on functionality and overlooked the usability, making the containers difficult to carry around, especially multiple at a time. Slock’s design allows three containers to be carried using a curved, comfortable handle. When the user arrives at the table, the rather clever, sliding structure allows the three containers to lie horizontally on the table with ease, avoiding accidents and unwanted spillages. The combination of curved glass, unusual round form, and pared-back color options allow for Slock to seamlessly integrate into the kitchen’s interior décor.

Created by Jorge Álvarez, with NOS Design, Wholeder’s storage system uses suction so that it can optimize storage space in every room (plus it has a pretty clever-sounding name too). The suctioned lid allows for easy application on any wall or flat surface, making it functional in not just the kitchen, but practically any room. Whatever might need to be stowed away for later use can be stored with Wholeder. These minuscule storage bins also work for traveling as they come in varying sizes in order to store the ideal amount of anything you like. Something to keep in mind about storage systems is that they still have to be maintained. Silverware trays easily fill up with food crumbs and mason jars should be sanitized when used to store hygienic products.

Meet the Chef Caddy. It is to a chef what a well-organized CD rack is to a deejay. Designed to be modular, the Chef Caddy holds spices, curry-pastes, pre-mixes, dried herbs, seasonings, and oils in its magnetic body that allows you to snap elements together. Designed by Casey Moulton, a speed-chef in his own right, Chef Caddy uses a system he developed years ago, to make food preparation blitzing-fast by simply organizing your seasoning by cuisine. Clubbing seasonings and oils into cuisines like French, Thai, Mexican, Indian, or Italian, Casey found it was much easier to sift through spices without having to dig around in a cluttered spice rack for that one badly labeled bottle.

This modular kit for building and customizing bottles allows you to use multiple members to create storage that suits your needs. With different modules that thread/screw into one another, you can build long or short bottles, and even bottles with divisions in them, giving you the ability to practically create the container you need from the ground up. The Stackup containers come with threading on both ends, allowing multiple modules to fasten to each other. Modules come in different colors, allowing you to create a colorful food-storage totem-pole of your choice, and some modules come with bases while others don’t, letting you either create a stacked set of containers, or an extendable single container, depending on what you’re storing.

Designed for Hans Thyge and Co, Hexagon is a modular shelving unit inspired by one of my favorite geometric shapes, you guessed it…the Hexagon! Hexagon is a system of organizers that is mounted upon a magnetic rail. Created entirely from metal and accompanied by multiple organizers in various shapes and colors, the layout can be customized according to your personal preference and wherever you decide to position it! Placed in the kitchen, it becomes a perfect vestibule for kitchen storage. The hooks can be used for holding dish towels and spatulas, whereas the magnetized panels can be used for storing knives.

This adaptable furniture system uses modular design to let you customize your storage and aesthetic

We bring home new furniture pieces and desk accessories all the time and as our rooms fill up, the less storage space we have for new furniture. As we live in our homes, we want to buy furniture and appliances to help make our everyday life more efficient, but the more stuff we buy, the less space we have for actual living. In collaboration with Illumika, a team of designers based in Moscow created Furnicloud, a furniture system that helps to declutter busy living spaces through a modular and vertical design.

Furnicloud essentially functions as a system of aluminum rods that can be configured to attach different container modules and create more storage space. Composed primarily of boxes that come with lids and doors, the rods can be vertically placed in varying shapes for the boxes to attach to and fill. The boxes that come with Furnicloud come with drawers, doors, and shelves to optimize their storage capabilities. In addition to storage boxes, Furnicloud includes mirrors, lights, hangars, and other accessory-sized storage containers that can be strewn from the aluminum rods, stabilizing the furniture system as a whole. Constructed entirely from aluminum, Furnicloud comes in different shades, coats, and finishes, ensuring that each furniture system can be customized for each given living space.

As we move towards a more modernist, if not futurist, tomorrow, the world of design is taking cue with industrial and even brutalist design elements. Furnicloud wears an aluminum finish to adapt to any living space and the durable, stable quality of the furniture system adds to its industrial appeal.

Designer: Illumika

Furnicloud is built on a modular system made up of aluminum rods that carry different container modules.

The box modules can either come as closed boxes, or with drawers and doors.

Each module mounts onto the aluminum rods with ease following a simple latch and screw method.

The connection between rods and boxes is seamless.

Furnicloud also comes equipped with magnetized modules that can hold your keys and smaller accessories.

Small storage plates fill up the rod system with tiny storage options.

Made from aluminum, Furnicloud comes in array of different finishes and coats.

Furnicloud can be customized for any living space.

This home office desk comes with hidden storage systems to keep your desk setup organized!

If we’re not careful, desks can quickly turn into pileup zones of scrap paper, binders, books, and stationery. Speaking from experience, without enough storage space, all of our work-related paraphernalia might end up in disorganized, scattered jumbles of mess. Designed specifically to declutter desktops and streamline the workday through integrated storage systems, the Omni Desk from Husarska Studio features hinged apparatuses and storage modules.

The designers behind Omni wanted to create a desk that could fit into any office space and provide enough storage options to keep the top of the desk free of mess. With rounded oak legs and additional wood accents, Omni is minimal and sophisticated by design, sporting an optic white desktop surface. The results of a social media survey given by Husarska Studio revealed that most desk users prefer desks with integrated storage that can open and close like a cabinet. Sure to weave lockable storage options into the desk, the makers behind Omni looked to hinged cabinets to store devices’ power supplies and wires, as well as users’ work-related material.

Traced along the desk’s topmost side, a hinged cabinet opens up to reveal stored-away cords and power strips for workdays that call for a laptop. Box modules also fill out Omni so users can still keep their work material hidden from view, but the module’s lids can lift, and inside, users can store smaller items like stationery. Placed on the right-hand side of Omni, the location of the pull-out drawer was specifically chosen to remain out of the way when users are working at their desks. A wooden stationery holder also helps organize pens, pencils, Post-it Notes, and other items that could remain at the ready for use during the workday.

Designer: Husarska Studio

Omni keeps a sophisticated and minimal design to fit into any office space.

Box modules punctuate Omni’s desktop to reveal hidden storage options.

A stationery holder can keep loose writing tools and smaller work-related paraphernalia.

The pull-out drawer is located just to the right of the user to stay out of the way.

Hinged cabinets can pop up to reveal more storage options and hide bulkier items like power strips and cord tangles.

This modular bike storage solution is customizable and versatile fit for every city apartment!

Owning a bike in a busy city brings with it its own set of responsibilities. You’ve got to have the best lock for street parking, learn the different traffic rules, and keep up with the maintenance of the bike to ensure its ride-ability. Owning a bike in a busy city is a dance you have to learn, but once you do it’ll be smooth riding ahead. The designers at Riders Gonna Ride know the dance well and have created Bike Box, a storage solution for bikes and their cyclists, to help make the ride that much smoother.

While Riders Gonna Ride is a lifestyle brand whose roots come from mountain biking, Bike Box is a storage solution designed for bikers everywhere– from the mountains to the city streets. Bike Box is modular by design and built from black CDF and beech wood to ensure a versatile, yet durable storage unit. Constructed like a storage unit for a professional locker room, Bike Box’s frame is built from CDF, or Compact Density Fibreboards, a highly compressed material often chosen for its water-resistant and long-lasting nature. The storage found on each Bike Box is made available through a peg and socket system of wooden pegs and accompanying sockets. When customized to hang your bike or orient shelving units, the pegs can be positioned however each bike owner sees fit.

There are currently five different storage units available from Riders Gonna Ride, each varying in size and storage capabilities. While the bike mount can either be mounted onto the Bike Box itself, it also can function as a wall mount to keep the Bike Box open to store supplementary bike accessories like helmets, sports gear, and carrying cases on the shelves that can be made through Bike Box’s modular setup.

Designer: Riders Gonna Ride

Following a peg-and-socket hanging method, bike owners can customize the storage unit’s configuration to hang all their gear.

By configuring the wooden pegs, bike owners can hang everything from helmets to their bikes, to street clothes.

With different sizes available, the Bike Box can fit into any city space.

While the larger units might take up more physical space, their storage capacity increases with size.

The bike mounts can either be installed right onto the Bike Box or the wall.

Small units come with enough room to store your bike and draw in most of its frame, while not taking up too much space in your apartment.

Shelving units can be configured through the bike’s modular design.
