Keyboard for the key-god
I have more respect for Razer than I do for Apple because they never put their personal agenda on a higher priority than that of their fan-base. From the very beginning, they’ve been the dedicated source for high-quality gear for gamers and computer geeks.
Catering to gamers is harder than you’d think because their demands are usually the highest, which makes Razer’s products pretty state-of-the-art. We saw their power bank earlier last week which could charge not just your phone, but even your laptop! Following that philosophy of empowering the user is the Razer Turret, a completely wireless Keyboard and Mouse kit that sits vertically on your desk or table and unfolds on your lap when you want it to.
The Turret was built for a specific scenario. Couch Gaming. Designed to wirelessly connect to your device via Bluetooth (preferably to your TV), the Turret is a full scale keyboard, built in with a smooth mousepad to run your wireless mouse across. Packaged in an unbelievably sleek and light framework (with a mouse that boasts of ergonomics that make hours of gaming a breeze), the keyboard can run on a single charge for 4 months, while the mouse gives you 40 hours of battery life on a single charge. Let those gaming marathons begin!

DIY Color-sensing Nerf Turret Sees Red, Green, Blue…
A couple of years ago, we featured the Pixy, a compact image sensor that can tag hundreds of objects based on their color. Electronics company RobotGeek combined Pixy with a couple of its robot kits to create a small turret that automatically follows and shoots at its targets.
The turret is a combination of the Pixy and the RobotGeek Desktop Robo Turret with the Foam Dart Gun (i.e. Nerf pistol) attachment. You’ll need to connect the Pixy to the turret’s Geekduino microcontroller via RobotGeek’s Sensor Shield. You can teach it to track certain colors using RobotGeek’s Arduino sketch. It will automatically follow objects that bear the target colors and shoot them if they stay still for a few seconds.
Head to RobotGeek’s Instructables page for the full guide. It’s an expensive toy, but at least you can expand its capabilities and use its parts for other projects.

3D Printed Portal Turret Moves and Tracks Targets: I’m Not Defective!
The first time we featured Instructables member Yvo de Haas aka Dragonator, we checked out his GLaDOS lamp. Now he’s back with another Portal-themed creation, a life-sized replica of the game’s robotic turret. It has moveable parts, emits lights and sound effects and can even track a moving target.
As with his GLaDOS lamp, Yvo used a 3D printer to make the turret’s body parts. He then used an Arduino to control the turret’s light and movement. He can make the turret’s guns move using a joystick. The turret’s targeting and sound effects will only work if it’s connected to a PC though.
Yeah! Let’s do this! Shoot a portal to Instructables to find out how Yvo made the turret.

Team Fortress 2 Sentry Gun Miniature: Ain’t That a Cute Little Gun?
Valve has a life-size model of the Sentry Gun from Team Fortress 2 to guard their office. Programmer and 3D artist Jeff Wong may not be a big shot like Gabe Newell and his employees, but he has a turret manning his house too. You just have to look closely to see it.
Jeff engineered his turret using 3D Studio Max and Photoshop…
…then sent his 3D file to Shapeways to have it printed.
Orderin’ a sentry! You too can get Jeff’s miniature Sentry Gun from Shapeways for about $24 (USD). You should also check out Jeff’s time-lapse video if you know your way around 3ds Max.

ThinkGeek Portal 2 Turret Vibrates, Talks and Doesn’t Hate You
If you’re a fan of the video game Portal 2, ThinkGeek has a new USB powered toy just in time for the holiday shopping season that you will love. The USB gadget is called the Portal 2 Sentry Turret USB Desk Defender. This little turret doesn’t actually shoot bullets, but it does activate when it senses motion.
When the turret senses motion, the side pods open revealing tiny faux guns. It also says memorable quotes from the video game, including “target acquired,” “there you are,” “I see you,” ‘preparing to dispense product,” and “activated.” If you can’t imagine for yourself what that looks and sounds like, here’s a demo video:
The toy also says other quips from the game if you move it or knock it over along with vibrating. If you knock the device over it will say things like “critical error,” “shutting down,” “I don’t hate you,” “hey hey hey,” and “malfunctioning.” If it doesn’t sense motion for 30 seconds it will say “are you still there?” This is an officially licensed Portal 2 collectible and is available now for $39.99(USD) over at ThinkGeek.

Portal 2 Sentry Turret USB Desk Defender
We don’t know what you are doing at your desk that you need yet another desktop sentry (remember the Yoda sentry?) but now the Portal 2 Sentry Turret USB Desk Defender is here to guard against intruders. This motion detecting turret opens up and plays sound effects when anyone approaches your workstation,
The turret plugs into your USB jack. It has five sayings taken right from the game for when motion is detected but wait, that’s not all. If a careless desk thief or office cat knocks it over, it squirms around on it’s side and has 5 other sayings it will speak. Measures 7.5″ tall and is officially licensed. But seriously, what are you hiding there at your desk?

Valve Portal Turret Replica Not a Lie, Not for Sale Either.
We finally have more details on the extremely faithful Portal turret replica that Valve showed off last week. It turns out that it was commissioned by Valve from Weta Workshop, the award-winning special effects, design and prop makers known for their work in The Lord of the Rings.
The replica even came in a crate marked with Aperture Science Labs’ logo, adding to its slick presentation and pants-wetting geekiness. Aside from the light-up eye, sound effects and the protracting guns, Valve also mentioned that the turret is indeed life-sized and has a motion sensor.
Some of you may remember that this is not the first time that Weta Workshop made a replica for Valve; they also made the replica of the Team Fortress 2 Sentry Gun that now guards the entrance to Valve’s headquarters. While you may never have a chance to own these one-offs, Weta is selling licensed Valve collectibles based on DOTA 2.
