Elecom ESD-EA USB 3.0 Portable SSDs Announced

Elecom is pleased to announce their newest line of USB 3.0 portable SSDs, the ESD-EA. Coming in three different storage capacities: 120GB, 240GB and 480GB (Black, White & Red color options), these business card sized SSDs are equipped with TLC NAND Flash memory chips, a USB 3.0 connection interface and LED lights to indicate the access state.

Measuring W93mm x D54mm x H9mm and weighing 35 grams, these compact and lightweight SSDs promise to deliver read and write speeds of up to 350MB/s and 60MB/s (120GB model), 350MB/s and 80MB/s (240GB model), and 350MB/s and 100MB/s (480GB model), respectively.

In addition, the ESD-EA SSDs comes with a free to download security software with password auto authentication PASS (Password Authentication Security System). The Elecom ESD-EA SSDs will be available from mid-September for around $95 (120GB model), $174 (240GB model) and $310 (480GB model), respectively. [Product Page]

BIWIN hits back by unveiling their newest USB 3.0 portable SSD, the P10. Coming in 128GB of capacity, this ultra-thin portable SSD (2.2mm thick) is built with the System In Package (SIP) technology which ensures better waterproof, shockproof, more delicate and fashionable appearance, a USB 3.0 connection interface (inside interface SATA 3.0 6Gbps) and an operational temperature of -25-degree C to 85-degree C.

Coming in both 240GB and 480GB sizes, these fanless SSDs are equipped with an anodized aluminum enclosure, a USB 3.0 connection interface, Synchronous NAND Flash memory chips and capable of delivering read and write speeds of up to 436MB/s and 429MB/s, respectively. Coming in both 128GB and 256GB sizes, these SSDs are equipped with a USB 3.0 connection interface, a one-touch backup button, a built-in ECC function and promise to deliver read and write speeds of up to 260MB/s and 225MB/s, respectively. I-O Data is preparing to release a new line of USB 3.0 portable SSDs namely the HDPX-UTSS. Coming in 60GB, 120GB and 240GB capacities, these ultra-thin SSDs (9mm thick) feature an aluminum enclosure, a USB 3.0 connection interface and are backed by a one-year warranty. The 60GB, 120GB and 240GB models will start shipping from early December for 10,920 Yen (about $137), 16,485 Yen (about $207) and 31,080 Yen (about $390), respectively. [I-O Data]
