Worknic is a portable work station if you need outdoor inspiration

Ever since employees discovered that they didn’t always have to be in the office to still be productive, there has been an increase in people who prefer working in another space instead of their cubicle. That also means there are more product designers thinking of furniture, tools, and accessories that would cater to this segment of digital nomads.

Designers: Seokoo Yeo, Woojin Jang, and Dowan Kim

Worknic is a portable desk that was developed through the Samsung Design membership program that is sponsored by Samsung Electronics. It lets you roll out and put up your desk in any space and change your working environment in case the walls of an office or your room are not doing it for you anymore. It also comes with a power source so you don’t always need to be beside a wall socket.

It’s a pretty big contraption to carry around but it comes equipped with wheels so you can roll it to wherever you plan to work. Once you’ve chosen your space, you just park it and pull out various bells and whistles to set up your desk, including stands, a worktable, and a power source. There also seems to have a stool that you can pull out to complete your office in the wilds.

There doesn’t seem to be much information about how long the power source will last or what are the other features of the work table or how heavy or light it will be. Design-wise however, it seems to be a pretty solid option for those who want to work in the park, at the beach, or wherever brings them more inspiration.

Worx’ portable work table is sturdy enough for your handy projects

If you’re the type of person that likes to do handy projects every once in a while and outside your home or workstation, then a portable work table is probably a necessity. Not all tables or surfaces can be sturdy enough to do some sawing, hammering, or other tool-related activities. Not all work tables though are easy to assemble or to carry around or those that are portable may not be that strong to handle all the activities you need to do.

Designer: Worx

Tool brand Worx has come up with the Sidekick Work Bench, a “handy, compact, portable worktable”. When not assembled, it’s a weird-looking, toolbox-like contraption that a handyman carries around but once unfolded, it’s actually a 2-foot-square table. The collapsible design but easy to assemble tool gives the user maximum portability and versatility as well.

The table has metal legs that can withstand soft ground but also not slip on hard or smooth surfaces. The worksurface has different sections that can be used for whatever project it is that you’re working on, whether it’s indoors or outdoors. At the corners, you’ll see things that look like the infinity symbol but are connectors that you can use to connect to other Sidekicks in case you need a bigger work area or to other Worx products that can be connected.

Reviews say that this seemingly DIY-looking contraption is actually very stable and sturdy, perfect for whatever project you’re working on that needs a work table. The fact that it’s also pretty easy to set up adds to the good feedback from users.

Herman Miller’s OE1 furniture adapts to the hybrid working lifestyle

Because of the pandemic, working conditions for most companies have changed. If before we were “forced” to have 5-day 8-hour work weeks, people and companies realized that there are some jobs that can actually be done remotely or you can have a hybrid kind of arrangement. This means also that work furniture will eventually evolve because of these options. The OE1 line which was initially launched in 2021 now has some new additions that have adapted to this new working lifestyle.

Designer: Herman Miller and Industrial Facility

One of the new pieces of furniture added to the OE1 line is a working table that you can use whether you’re sitting or standing. The height can be adjusted with a pedal so you don’t go through the hassle of manually adjusting it if you decide to switch environments while working. The sit-stand table is actually also pretty light so you can move it around your working space. This is one thing common with the new additions. They’re portable, aesthetically pleasing, but also doesn’t demand attention as it is simple and minimalist in design.

Another addition is the Powerbox which lets you charge multiple devices. Basically it’s a portable trolley that can house four batteries that can hold around 1,000 watt-hours and is made from post-consumer plastic. The collection also has a freestanding curtain which can be used as a divider in case you need a physical division between your work space and your living space. There’s a more sturdy version called the curved screen. If you need something more portable, there’s the laptop hoodie which you can bring around with you so you get privacy when working in a public area.

The OE1 line now also has a work box where you can put your office supplies like pens and even keyboards and bring them around with you to wherever you are working. There is also a bigger version of the easel which was previously released. All of these will be useful for people who are working with a hybrid lifestyle now.

Replace your swanky work desk with this inventive ping pong table and never look back

Arguably, tables are an integral part of home furnishing. Dining tables, coffee tables, nightstands, low tables, and even work tables; each of them has its own layout, requirement and usefulness. Presenting a modern dimension to the work table, Strol x cloudandco –studios brainchild of designers Yeo Junyoung and Yeongkyu Yoo respectively – have designed a ping pong table that can also facilitate work from home.

Rightfully called the Play Table, it is categorically designed for a home than a recreational space. To ensure it finds a rightful place at home where stylish and contemporary tables rule the roost, the ping pong table does a multipurpose gimmick in a modern design outfit. Kicking back the tradition of a single-purpose table, the Play Table gears up for a game of tennis and in an instant transforms into a work table complete with wireless charging and storage for your stationery and supplies.

Designer: Strol x cloudandco

At first sight, it’s a simple table. Behind the sliding genius, however, lies an entertainment table. Its top is made from high-density HPL coated solid birch wood while the slides are finished with an intricate 8mm cut of maple. The table legs are made from aluminum with steel castors that make it effortless to move the table, in case you choose to relocate its position.

The interactive table is ready for a ping pong game as soon as a provided magnetic rope net is installed. Post the game, the net is easily removed and along with the rackets and the ball is popped into the storage opened up by sliding apart the two halves of the tabletop. When closed, the table instantly because a space for focus. The surface is provided with a wireless charger and the hidden compartments also stores all the cables, power strip, and still have space for other supplies you’d want to keep safe. Interestingly, when you have co-workers home, you can also sectionalize the table with supplied partitions and your little office table is ready for a work desk for a small team.

Eleven isn’t just a number or that fictional character from a TV series. Eleven can soon be known as a special desk designed to make working from home more fun and productive.

Work desks are a dime a dozen, but there won’t be an end to searching for the best one. Remote work and schooling are still recommended simply because the pandemic isn’t over yet. Many companies and schools have seen the convenience online work and school offer. The challenge is really having the best work-from-home setup.

Eleven Desk Creation

The Eleven Desk designed by Alberto Monteón can be a godsend. The industrial designer has considered his experience and needs as a creative professional. The desk is ideal for those who have a lot of stuff and needs some organizing to help them finish tasks on time.

The desk looks sturdy with the table top’s thickness and the legs. It has enough areas for everything you need for work. The table surface can accommodate your laptop, keyboard, monitor, and mouse. In addition, there is ample area for your books, documents, pens, and a mug. Underneath, there are hooks where you can hang your bag and headphones, plus another level for more stuff.

The table is made of maple wood and carbon steel plus sustainable finishes. The table is buildable, which means you can quickly assemble this thing. It’s also portable so it’s easy to move to a different location.

The silhouette of the work desk is simple. This is a potential winner because it’s compact yet has enough space for all the essential stuff. Out of the box, only a few parts are included, including the bolts and screws. There are planks included for additional support that you need to attach to a pair of legs.

Eleven Desk Prototype

On his Instagram, Alberto Monteón shared the Eleven as his workspace, where he spends most of his time. His desk has improved over a couple of years, and he’s now sharing how it looks. He’s a designer, so he recognizes the needs of most creative professionals. From an ordinary foldable plastic table, the designer switched to a wooden version that he created.

Eleven Desk Design Concept

The Eleven Desk is still a prototype, but we can see its potential. For example, the parts can be placed in a flat pack for easier transport. Hopefully, a manufacturer will see this design and be willing to help produce and sell the designer’s idea.

This flexible workspace was designed to function for introverts and extroverts alike!

Segment is a conceptual workspace designed to make group work efficient while still giving each user a fair amount of personal space. If you have ever worked on a group project you know that having your space is as essential as not having five tangled chargers cluttering up the desk. The minimal form of the agile workspace masks the detailed research conducted by Hoare that takes into account the users’ needs, mindset, and work ethic based on their personality type in a group.

Hoare chose the CMF that can create a welcoming and accomodating environment without compromising on the aesthetics or functionality. The dividers create four work zones on the 2-meter wide desk and each zone comes with their own set of wireless charging points and cable management ports. “The partitions also bring another benefit with them alongside privacy; the upholstered finish introduces an element of acoustic dampening, reducing the noise levels in the room allowing the user to achieve a higher level of focus,” says Hoare on his thought process behind choosing the divider and its material. To keep the desk free of wires, there are channels on the underside of the surface that provide routing for the cables from the wireless tabletop chargers.

Created specifically for students pursuing higher education, it is ideal for any individual and also provides them with their own zone with unobtrusive dividers when working with multiple people so that they can continue to focus. Using ethnographic research methods, focus groups, direct interviews, and task-analysis were carried on to determine how Segment can provide a collaborative space while also taking the environment and user behavior into account. The desk works for introverts and extroverts while solving common issues like bag storage, noise, enough power sockets, and more that make it suited to a flexible modern lifestyle.

Your leftover food powers this smart WFH desk!

Furniture ideas are really evolving during quarantine and I am loving that a table brings a lot more to the table than being a table. Never did I think I would come across a clock that was also a table but the world of design always surprises us! Functional furniture is an essential as our lifestyles become more flexible, especially after the pandemic that has taught us to optimize our resources to serve more than one purpose – just like this conceptual work station.

This table is called a Clock and I want you to keep that in mind for the rest of this story. Clock was designed to be compact and fit in the growing trend of smaller living spaces. The designer wanted to create something that seamlessly blended into our workdays (especially when working from home!) without disrupting our office hours or eating habits. The hybrid station converts food waste into energy to power itself wirelessly but also includes the systems to be plugged into a wall if needed. It is an innovative product that combines technology and functionality to sustainably manage waste and encourage more people to shift to natural/renewable energy sources.

When you aren’t working, simply slide the parts back and close the product into a slim bench. In its closed state, only the power icon and energy levels are visible, simply tap the power icon to light up the panel. The smart furniture appliance also has defined heating and cooling areas that are touch-controlled. You can sync your phone with Clock to receive all the important updates and statistics about your hi-tech table. This is an award-winning project that gives us a glimpse of a better future where multi-functional, sustainably powered, and aesthetically sleek products give us the flexible life we crave.

Convertible Celerina Table

celerina_cover

With as many opportunities to work from home now a days, there are so many pros, and very few cons that come along with that. However, the biggest con is space. It’s hard to find a home or apartment that offers enough room to live and work.

The Celerina Table, designed by Damien Regamey for Reinhard AG Sachseln, was designed just for that. At first glance, you see a beautifully designed, solid oak dining table with beautiful details that is mounted on either still or wood tilted legs – perfect for entertaining or a nice meal at home. What’s hidden underneath is the gem of the table.

Once you release the leather security strap, the hydraulic system opens the top of the table, transforming it into a beautiful, modern office desk with storage, optional magnetic boards and a cable management system. A perfect solution to keep your workspace hidden and out of the way, once you finish work for the day.

Celerina Table also won an A’Design Award for 2016. What a perfect addition to any modern home.
